Anybody know what would make all my receivers break off their routes and come back to the ball, every time? It's causing interceptions, losses, I can't figure it. I reboot, got new disk, still the break off their route.

The thing I hate about Madden is the Defense is wayyyyy to strict. Every time I try to put it up top to the sideline it either gets picked cuz its underthrown (due to not having time) or its batted. even tho my recievers r faster than the corners. and the 3 step drop works only if you're not looking from near side to far side for your wideouts. then you get dumped.

good advice only sometimes you throw the ball to the reciever too soon. I however can't hear the video i am in school~ Throw "outs" as a release valve if under quick pressure, you will get a reciever to block and can gain 5-10 yards everytime against cover 2 (Most Commonly run play in Madden)

this is why I play 2k football. . .the plays are designed with the drops already in it. . .& the 3-5-7 step drops coincide with routes & the blocking scheme. . .you know like REAL football!

What do the letters and numbers in the play names mean?

50= QB takes a 5-step drop before passing

90= QB takes a 3-step drop

PA= play action- QB fakes a handoff to a back

RO= QB runs to one side of the field before passing

Hey I just played a good game but lost because my opponent kept doing a deep pass to Randy Moss. He was getting 57 yards each deep pass. It seemed like he was able to do it every time. I get a similar situation against Terell Owens too. How do you defend against it and how do you use it?

You have to 'User Defend' any deep ball attempts. A couple of quick steps to practice.

1) When ball is in the air, switch to CB or Safety.

2) Run and get body position on the WR without bumping him (no PI flag)

3) Use the Left-Trigger to stay in good placement infront of the WR and a tad bit infront of catching cirlce.

4) Before the WR attempts catch, press the A-Button to SWAT down the ball. The timing must be on point. If no SWAT happens, an In-Air collision might prevent the catch.

Watch Part IV...Recongize The "D".

After the snap, I look at the LBs/DownField. When a blitz comes, it's usually from LBs unless they're in a Nickel/Dime/Dollar and then it can be from LBs/Nickel CBs. In both cases it come from the front lines and rarely from Safeties, the #1 or #2 CB. If you smell blitz, set Hot Routes to the areas where the blitz is coming from. Throw short and quick. If you have set up better blocking, then you may be able to aim long.

The AI in Madden 06 is not the same AI that is in Madden 08. The AI in 08 is much smarter and way more difficult. What works in 08 may not work in 06. However, it was much easier to pass in 06 than it is in 08.

If you're a beginner then what you have to do is get used to the playbook that you choose to run. Make sure to use Practice Mode. Go through each formation and play and see what you like and what fits your style of play. Getting comfortable with your playbook makes it that much easier to adjust if need be.

Run "west coast"? Not necessarily. In real life, if a QB doesnt get the ball out of his hands within a 5 step drop, he's sacked, hurried, or missed his receievers. This video helps people recognize the options within a 3-5 step drop because receivers are frequently open within timeframe. Using a 3-5 step drop allows you to throw short, mid, and long and helps you survey the entire field. If pressure comes, then adjust but receivers will be open within that initial step drop.

That wheel route you ran was key BECAUSE a regular pass to the flats sucks in the game because the runningbacks keep going back to catch it. It's worse if you have a slow runningback because once they get ahold of the ball the defense already gets there.

There's a ton that can be said about this. I dont know your style of play but can suggest things.....

1) Set the FB or RB to block

2) Get in 2TE sets for more blocker

3) Quick/Short Passes - Use the 3-5 Step Drop & Throw. Dont run out of the pocket too much

4) Dont run plays that take too long to develop. Doing this gives the blitz time to get to you.
