Anyone else find it strange that Jacob visited Kate while committing a crime, Hurley when he was told he didn't commit a crime, Jack when he saved a life, Locke when he is badly hurt, Sun and Jin's wedding, and Sawyer's parent's funeral? Opposites for all of them. Just an observation
Jacob is such a badass in The Incident, he conveys such empathy and yet is mysterious so you don't know if he's good or bad till midway through the last season.
that dosent make sense though...1: it would be going against their own saying "dead is dead....."
and 2. if locke died, how is it he told ben he FELT his back break? this would have ben insant death, a death you die before you can even get the chance of feeling.
im not trying to be right i just dont fully know what direction they took this
Well Mr. Hanzo, I think I can help you out. I think that Jacob was able to revive Locke because he was a candidate. I wondered the same thing when Nadia was hit. But Nadia getting killed was a sacrifice that the island demanded so that Sayid could return to the island. Of course Sayid wasn't willing to go back, so Jacob had to send ilana to do it.
this is why they had to change how locke got paralyzed in the flash sideways, if he fell out of the window then jacob wouldnt've been there to revive him! so they made up that whole "plane crash" thing
@lukevalmurray jacob needs to die, in order for the monster to get free. other wise the monster would have left the island by water or somthing years ago. he cant though, so he trys killing jacob numerous times by manipulating people to do it for him. THEN he can leave
@AlvarHanso84 If you watch the scene, after Richard says he wants his wife back, you can see he thinks about for a second contemplating whether or not to do it. I assume it's because the Island is a place where people need to learn to redeem themselves, so Jacob thinks Richard needs to learn to let go of his wife.
@GrinningTurtle42 It is plausible since Jacob didn't explicitly say he didn't have that power - he merely said "I can't do that". That could have been because of moral reasons, lies or just doing what was best for Richard. Good theory.
Perhaps the reason why pregnant women die on the island is because of JUGHEAD. And the radio-activity it emits. Mutating the zygote. I think it happens during the conception. That's why Claire didn't die: She was already pregnant before she crashed on the Island.
The major mysteries i want to see unfolded in season 6;
Who is Jacob? Who is his nemesis? Why do they hate eachother? Why is there a statue on the island? Who made it? What happend to the rest of it? What is the black smoke? Is the black smoke really Jacobs nemisis (that was a theory from millions of viewers Lol)? What was the hurley bird? Who was the figure in jacobs cabin (it is not Jacob just by looking at him, he looked alot older)? What are the whisperes? What are Walts powers?
Why do pregnant women die on the Island? When did the medical complications of pregnancy first occur on the Island? How does the cabin change locations? Why was Claire in the cabin? When did Jacob stop using the cabin? As Ben admitted to having never met Jacob, who did they see in the cabin?
Why have the supply drops continued after the Purge? Who is making the drops? Are additional drops being made for other DHARMA stations and facilities?
Suther23- The cabin might be some sort of prison for souls/hell as somebody asked locke for help in the cabin. The ash surrounding the cabin seems to be somesort of barrier for those inside. When the newcomers find the cabin empty, the camera focuses on a gap in the ash. Perhaps there is also a connection when jacob says they're coming. Jacob and his nemesis could be the Egyptian gods Osiris and Set. Perhaps those in the cabin are other trapped spirits/gods.
yes, I really hope they revisit Walt and his apparent powers. & I know many of the characters on LOST have had devastating storylines (Locke especially) but I think Walt got dealt the the absolute worst set of life-cards
did anyone notice that everyone touched by jacob travelled to 1977, except for locke because he's dead? maybe this is somehow significant. locke was suppossed to be in 1977 too. just my thoughts...
I do think it's significant, yes. Also very interesting is that he visited Kate & Sawyer when they were young children. Whereas, he didn't meet with Jack, Locke, Sayid and Hurley until they were full grown adults
has anyone else noticed that in all the flashbacks during the season 5 finale, jacob makes physical contact with all of the living survivors. Is he maybe blessing them, like he did to richard?
Ilana and her people who carries box with Locke's bodye on the said that they are good guys and that thay are on the side which is gonna win. Widmore said Locke that if he won't back on iceland, the wrong side will win. Ilana and her people are on the side of right, real Lock and he is gonna win. I beleive in right Locke who was always right and forgiving person. Just what this iceland need - the persone who won't cheat, kill or take a revenge
The ease with which Ben was able to stab Jacob makes be believe that Jacob is two steps ahead of Smokie/Mr. X, and allowed himself to appear to be killed as part of his plan (whatever the hell that is :)
I was thinking that same thing. He obviously knew that Ben was there to kill him but he didn't once mention to ben that Lock wasn't really Lock, he pretty much just let it happen which makes me think that this was the way Jacob wanted things to go down. Now with that said, I think Jacob is really dead but I'm hoping his death might bring the real lock back as Lock is Mr. Destiny and I think they know they'd piss off way to many fans of the show by ending his character the way they did.
Through irony, the blindness and ignorance of the characters are exposed. The title Everything That Rises Must Converge refers to an underlying religious message central to her work: aiming to expose the sinful nature of humanity that often goes unrecognized in the modern, secular world.
The book he's reading according to wikipedia: In the story, human weaknesses are exposed and important moral questions are explored through everyday situations. Critics view the story as a prime example of OConnors literary skills and moral views. In the story an arrogant young man takes a fateful bus trip with his bigoted mother. The mother doesnt like to ride the recently racially integrated bus alone. Their relationship shows tensions when a black mother and son enters the bus.
If you look closely, each scene Jacob is in: He touches the character. In this scene, John Locke falls to the ground after being pushed out the eighth story window by Anthony Cooper. He appears to have died on impact, but after Jacob touches his shoulder, Locke gasps and opens his eyes. Jacob tells him everything will be fine and he is sorry this has happened to him. each character he touches, ends up on the island. he helps them on their paths in life.
When I watched this scene, I was like WOW! What a revelation! :D...I just love it how Jacob is all casual about it, reading a book on a bench, anticipating Lockes fall. And the look of him when he hits the ground "aaaaaand there it is..." lol. Awesome finale and one of the best Lost episodes to date, I wonder if the book Jacob was reading has any significance to Jacobs character. DAMN this is such a good show, I dont want it to end XD
so thats how locke got his legs back...

He touch Locke so shouldn't Locke have the "gift" that Richard has? It looks like Locke is dead and Jacob's touch makes him rise.
ThatwasTERRIBLE 2 years ago
Richard said Jacob touched him AND gave him a gift. Perhaps they are two separate things.
He touched every castaway that is now on the island, therefore marking them as candidates, for whatever reason he had.
Some of the castaways received stuff from Jacob, though . . . so perhaps that's significant? Or not, lol.

"Everything that Rises Must Converse" Hilarious and almost insensitive book to breading when this happens. LOL

it's *CONVERGE.
Lost inserts books all the time as a way of leaving clues for its viewers.
before calling it "hilarious" or "insensitive," perhaps you should give it a read, so you can recognize the symbolism.
i'm just sayin'.

The whispers are the dead people from the purge, in the first iteration of time. They're trying to communicate.
i think Michael is special because he is from the future.
Weedmate420 2 years ago
The reason why pregnant women could not have kids on the island is because it was not in the present.
the time were constantly being looped every 108min.
You cannot go back in time and have a kid.
Fate will not allow an entity to exist in a past where it never did.
So it will kill the child, the mother, or both.
The only exeption would be if fate needs the baby/mother to replace someone in the current timeline.
Weedmate420 2 years ago
After seeing this again Locke falling down is sort of comical in a Monty Pythonish way.

I really want to agree with you. Locke deserves retribution.
The only problem I see with that theory is that Locke already killed someone: he backstabbed Naomi.
It should be noted that Terry O'Quinn strongly opposed this, he thought it was WAY out of character.
