If you go through life taking everything someone says at face value it will be easy to point out their contradictions. You need to learn to read between the lines. Stop 'complaining' about these guys, they are the most legit voice in gaming right now and they are helping to create a positive manifesto for gamers to adhere to. Without being taught how to think you reduce yourself to a life full of rules, regulations, and programs that are destructive to human relationships.
@smurfydoodle We're not "bitching" about anything. We are stating our opinions. There's a major difference. And if we did complain or bitch, that isn't related to hostility.
@woolysheepelectriced Like I said before, we are saying what we think is wrong with the game and pretty much reviewing sections of it. How can reviewing the game be complaining and hostile? It seems to me it's players who hold Reach as "best game evar" not wanting to hear negative things about their wonderful game.
@GamersForChange Perhaps check the definition of complaining, pointing out percieved 'flaws' in reach, as was done within the video, comes under complaining. I'm not saying that in itself is hostile, though it will be greeted with hostility. And as to your personal belief, that's yet another opinion that can be replied to with hostility, possibly the use of 'evar' suggests those that enjoy the game can only speak in the language of cheezburgers, A hostile presumption, or demeaning at the least.
The needle rifle doesn't feel natural because of the stupid sound it makes and the fact it shoots pink crystals instead of actual needles (which would be awesome). And halo 3 was more slow paced because people would always hop around you when you're shooting them.
"When you're in armor lock, it's not like your getting kills you aren't supposed to." Hell yes they are! When he EMP's my shields and then hits me, while at the same time, his shields have recharged from the 4 shots I put into him before he went into armor lock, then he is getting a kill he definitely didn't deserve. I hate it when I encounter entire teams using Armor Lock because you can almost never kill them unless you can get your hands on the power weapons for long enough.
@bpk428 Don't stand right next to him. When they armor lock back off get another team mate, and double dmr him when he gets out, [they're no shield when they get out of armor lock. [:
@ATreeFairy Problem is, they don't have empty shields when they break it, which is something I would love to see changed. All you would have to do is make Armor Lock EMP their own shields, and they become an easy pummel/assassination if they don't have a teammate to back them up.
Halo shouldn't use anything from any other games. That is why Reach is not considered a Halo game to so many people, because instead of bungie doing what's been working and what the Halo community loves they looked at other games that are doing well and said wow that's a good idea and added it into Reach. Reach would have been IMO so much better with fixed cross hairs and no perks or loadouts you know like Halo :-) DMR would even be okay just add it as a new weapon. Just my opinion.
Heres something funny im a kid thats 11 years old but i really enjoy m rated games. its that fun of teamwork, success, and failure. this is a great game i also play borderlands, black ops, and more. i like halo because its how you wanna play. you make your own match you get your own type of fun. halo 3 was my first halo and halo 2 was the first halo i was interested in. and halo c.e. is a game im hoping to get later this year so i can play halo on my pc. nice to see this channel growing.
I just dont take Reach as a Halo game. If I want to Play Halo, I'll pop in Halo 3. If I want to play Reach, I pop in Reach. Reach just doesnt FEEL like a Halo game. It feels like a completely diffrent game with a Halo lable on the disk.
Lol to be honest I miss the AR monstrosity as you guys like to call it, it sure is a beast at close range in Halo 3 >:] but, yeah you guys make a lot of good points. Armor abilities really do slow down game play. However, I think if all of the armor abilities were just taken away there would be more complaints then reliefs.
if they removed bloom took out armor abilites and remade some maps from past halo games reach would be amazing but until than i just cant have fun with it so i'll stick to halo 3 for now
@planters92892 if they did that you would end up with halo 3 with better graphics. all they need to change is they need to calm down armor lock. and if your any good with the forge YOU can remake the old maps lol
@techepix Health not important? My good sir, if you are down to just 3 of those health things, even if you have full shields, all somebody has to do is take down the shields and shoot you with a DMR ANYWHERE and you are dead. I'd say that makes it important to make sure you don't go that low.
Great vid guys. With a SOLID DMR you can kill 2 players with one clip. Which I have done quite a bit but not all the time. Other than that me and my friends pretty much say the exact same thing you guys were talking about and that's why we just hardly do anything competitive anymore in Reach until an update.
I really get annoyed with armour lock. So many times I've had Double Triple Kill and then some noob goes into armour lock. I kill him anyway when he comes out of armour lock. It does just slow down the game.
@silverwolf098 lol, I haven't really played BTB or any other playlists like that, but that is a good reason to keep it. It should only be in certain playlists because it's helllllla annoying in other stuff. Ehh, but Reach isn't really a game I like...H3 was much better :'( Also, Feraligatr! My all-time favorite Pokemon bro! :D
@techepix mb i meant odst. I didnt like reach. it was so fuckin slow! I got like 40 bucks for it nd just used the rest on something else. Yeah trading reach for just halo 3 would be retarded. Halo odst with the multiplayer disc and 20 bucks is not a bad deal for someone that didnt like reach :P
To me, it seemed like you just bashed reach in its entirety, and its weird, because it seems like you guys really enjoy it because you're playing it. I disagree with the notion that gameplay is slower, since armor abilities add extra advantages which make the gameplay just a bit better, like sprint, it makes you go faster, which allows the player to make a more aggressive push against the other team or something like that. Dont say the shotgun is overpowered, cuz its obviously not
I disagree with most of what you say. I felt Halo 3 was tired, and a less balanced retread of Halo 2. Reach, with bloom and armor abilities, rewards intelligence and strategy, far greater traits than the ability to twitch fire. Sure, Armor Lock is broken (and you have to know its glitches), but planning ahead and waiting for someone to come out of it, or killing someone who attempts to save the armor locker, makes the kill feel that much greater.
@Praise4GamerZ Maybe they don't wanna chat with people that are douche bags like so many players are? Also being forced into game chat in MW2 was criticized quite a bit from people I believe, so I don't think they were going to put that in here
2) I have to disagree with the statement that none of the armor abilities are broken. Armor Lock is broken. It is like One Man Army in MW2; an excellent idea, but put into the game in a way that makes it too easy to abuse. It needs to be removed.
3) Sprint slows down gameplay? Watching this, I felt like I was suddenly on crack. Sprint is largely responsible...
4) I agree with the map thing though. The maps in Reach aren't that good. The map pack helps.
i disagree with what you said about sprint because it really made no sense. in part 2 of this video you say halo reach is slow paced because people run too slow, but in this you say its slow paced because people run too fast? well which is it? running too slow or too fast? in my opinion sprint increases the pace of the game. every time i spawn i can sprint back to where the action is much faster than i could in halo 3.
i agree with what you said about armor lock. it is easily my least favorite thing about the game. armor lock's niche was supposed to be deflecting heavy weapons and countering vehicle splatters. but its used in DMR fights and it slows down the gameplay. armor lock in DMR fights either gives the guy another chance to kill you because he wasnt good enough the first time, or gives the guy enough time for his friends to come in and finish you off because he couldnt do it himself.
i disagree with armor lock you are clearly not using it like u can. Armor lock does actually give u kills u shudnt get. Essentially armor lock allows you to spawn with a Mauler because it is a close range weapon that can get rid of your shields and immediately allow for a bash
@TheUnbeatableSpartan All it does is exposde you as a target. Having the higher ground (or air, in their case) is not necessarily better. It's even dumber in multi team where you have almost everyone attacking you.
All I hear is two guys complaining because they were probably better at previous Halo games and now they want to whine about it. Everything new to Reach makes the game more balanced. The DMR takes more skill than the BR and it's nice that every gun in the game now has a purpose instead of everyone just picking up a BR and spamming it.
@beaver6613 I'd have to respectfully disagree with that. They're not whining about it, they just explain why they don't like certain aspects of the game, and I definitely disagree that everything new to Reach makes the game more balanced. Certain Armor abilities are favored for certain maps (unbalanced), and if you have a good doubles teammate and you both have armor lock you can be literally unstoppable.
Well that's where we disagree, yeah you can pick up the DMR and spam it (and I see people doing that) but if you do, you turn a 5 shot kill into a 9 or 10 shot kill and by that time a skilled player as already put you down. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.
@beaver6613 I don't think the DMR takes more skill than the BR at all. The BR had a spread you had to master, the fact that it wasn't hitscan like the DMR made people have to perfect adjustment of their reticules to have their bullets connect. You're right about every gun having a purpose, with the bloom Bungie attempted to put it into a niche, but IMO you have it backwards. People pick up the DMR and spam close range all the time, and if you attempt to spam a BR you won't be very successful.
i find it amazing how when the video game companies find out there are glitches that help players enjoy the battle or give them advantages, within a week or 2 they will have a patch to fix it. yet when the community as a whole have a problem with the game in general. the video game companies care little to change it. they could create a patch to fix the bloom or take away armor lock cant they?
@Gods0n1 If you don't like armor lock, try the MLG playlist. There's no armor lock there. As for the bloom, pretty much the only weapons that have it are automatic & precision weapons. With sniper rifles, bloom doesn't matter. By the time you can shoot again, the bloom is gone. Bloom is there to encourage timing your shots well instead of just spamming your shots. As for automatic weapons, the bloom is too slight to affect your aim. Remember: Short, controlled bursts. Been that way since Halo 1.
@SpeedPacer oh no dont get me wrong. im fine with halo reach. i understand you can change playlists to the ones you want. bloom only adds to the skill required and you can easily get good at it by going to game types with 1 shot kills. i honestly think reach is way better than halo 3. in terms of campaign, and customizations. we will just have to wait untill people adapt to the game style.
I agree with alot of what these guys are saying. I mean fundamentally, the sprint(which I ALWAYS use) counter-intuitively slows the game down! You have a second's delay after sprinting to shoot or turn or avoid a grenade, it just doesnt have the same flow as the other titles. You have to think ahead in a different way than b4 and it's a much less enjoyable way, like if I sprint there I might have to do a 180 if someones behind me and that might take over a second to do(I play sense 3).
Sure, Bungie could of made it like ODST, with just the story but the multiplayer of Halo 3, that would of been cool, Halo 3 with updated graphics and a story of Halo Reach.
I played Halo 2, it was the game that got me onto Xbox Live, and the melee system was very underpowered, but with the BxB glitch it was sorta ignored, but still present in a way. Halo 3 felt right in terms of the bleed over system, so I see where you guys are getting at.
I agree with your points. Halo Reach is slower and more cumbersome, especially with armor abilities. While the points you prove do make sense, you forgot one thing to add.
Halo Reach was before Halo.
What I mean is that we(as the players)are not a bunch of Master Chief's with perfect aim, hence the bloom. We are not as fast or as strong, hence the movement and shield bleeding issues (which I totally hate). If Bungie made Halo Reach multiplayer like the Halo 2 or 3, it wouldn't make any sense
@DudeitsLandon Dude the bloom needs to be slowed. I fire a DMR shot every second to be accurate. I fire the Needle Rifle at the same rate but the bloom gets HUGE after 2 seconds
@TheendlessHell1 I meant to say that they should make it expand faster and not neccesarily bigger, if they did this then if you time your shots correctly like every one second perhaps, the bloom will have a 1 second calm down rate, so if your spam it then the bloom will expand hella fast. Understand that? I think tis a good idea.
i think your description is a little off, "pointing out what they did right as much as possible" as has been said, its more admirable to just take a balanced look, but thats extremely minor. I do dislike the slowness, I havent played 3 since reach but its noticably slower and the gap between the best and worst has certainly dropped off. One thing not many people have picked up on though is that tight teamwork and positioning has a greater effect. Teamwork > skill now I think
6:01 "It's not like you're getting kills you're not supposed to, you're just prolonging your death."
Yes, but in certain TS situations I have almost killed player X, and player X's teammate Y comes up and finishes the what player X started. Player X is able to get a free pass, and I am killed when before player X is, and it shouldn't have happened. Wow, I just realized it's really hard to describe Halo situations through text.
All of the weapons and the bloom is fair, armor lock is not really over powered, just really annoying. The bloom could be a little better. Most of the people spam me at mid range, while I am the one trying to get my shots right, and they always win. I hate spamming, unless I am like 2 feet away from them. So I don't know what they should really do with the game, but for me it is just getting a little boring. I have been playing Oblivion and Gears of War 2 now.
The only complaint I have for the game is the game play. Sure this is a great game, but I am at the point where the game is boring for me. I like how most of the weapons are balanced, and most of the games you get in are fair. Not all, but most. The only thing that I really don't like is the grenades. I think they are way over powered, and that really kills the game play. I think if they were to make the grenades like halo 3, the game will be balanced.
come on guys this is too complainy- if you dont like reach dont make videos on it for people who like it like me, becuase its just annoying and close-minded. not really gamers for change if you ask me.
@TH3USUALSUSP3CTS Wouldn't it be closed minded to not allow discussion about glaring flaws with a game? And if no one ever complained nothing would ever change. I don't want to see halo die in this current state, that's why I am so vocal about getting this game patched.
This pretty much nails exactly my thoughts on Halo Reach. Another issue I have is that power weapons are now entirely what wins you games rather than in halo 3 where if someone had a snipe or rockets they could be taken down. Armour ability + power weapon = beast and the DMR being such a weak weapon means they're so much worse relative to power weapons than halo 3.
@hazeandguitar because people who play halo 3 actually care about winning and people who play halo reach are new to the halo series and dont really care about winning and communicating.. since win and loss doesnt really matter as compared to halo 3, its more of a individual rank
That's bullshit. Halo 3 was the game that spawned so many new "Halo" fans, but they weren't even Halo fans...they were strictly Halo 3 fans. Therefore, no matter how Reach would have turned out, those Halo 3 fan boys would not have been happy with it.
Your totally right, i only got into Halo from number 3, and although i bought reach, all i really wanted from bungie was a Halo 3 with a better matchmaking system that was faster, and dealed with lag better. I admit i'm not a 'halo' fan, but i'm a 'halo 3' fan, i've had no interest in any of the other games in the halo series.
@hazeandguitar Who knows. People for some reason change their behavior(not strategy, their overall behavior/personality) depending on the game they are playing sometimes
I think it's more about how you play the game, than the game itself. You can't "prefer" a loadout, you should pick it depending on the map your on. Depending on how people play the game, it can be just as fast, if not faster, than Halo 3. Teamwork and strategy is key in Halo Reach, 1v1 battles in team games are just not going to cut it anymore, and that's what competitive play is all about. People just got too hooked on Halo 3 in my opinion, they wouldn't be happy no matter how the game came out
i hate armor lock. it just shows how big of a scrub you are. cant win in a dmr battle? use armor lock because you have no skill whatsoever. and then there are the kids who camp the whole damn game with invis: also extremely bad. drop shield is unfair in some game types, but it's only really in team objective. the other AAs like sprint, evade, hologram are fine IMO.
@M0NK3YK1Dlol Just a question: Do you have any problem with people who use invis but DON'T camp, but instead only use it when trying to sneak up on somebody?
@aauron34 well, i dont really have a problem with that, no. but i think it kind of defeats the purpose of invis. at least for someone trying to sneak up on me. i'd see the radar jammer and think to look around, and since camo only completely works when you're still, i'd see the person coming from behind. i'd probably hear them too, with my headset.
but no, i have no problem with what you suggested.
ok, the point of reticle bloom is to balance the melee and the guns. In Halo 3, It was all melee oriented. You couldn't succeed with just a BR and an AR, with no melee. In Reach, It balances both the melee system and the DMR because now the game is not melee oriented, its gun oriented. And the DMR can't be spammed so The DMR has both strengths and weaknesses. Try slowing down, and sniping from a ways away. You'll see your deaths go down, and games end faster, usually in your favor
Only two complaints I have for the game are abilities and bloom, If they were able to make a game setting to set bloom off in game settings and take away armour abilities in a play list, id love it. I still love the game, I just think it'd have more players and be more enjoyable for the competitive community.
@FBWalshyFTW Hey, do you think they will ever patch Reach to fulfill the more skill-intensive Halo-loving players? I want to know whether I should sell Reach or just wait it out.
@Halo12396 Yep. But MLG starts with Needle Rifles and DMR, which are both affected by bloom. The whole game is a coin toss when it comes to aiming, and you still start off with Sprint, which is detrimental to fun, fast paced gameplay, in my honest opinion. I just watched a game of MLG pros win a game of MLG 50-0. Not once did anyone time their shots. Bloom is seriously hurting this game pretty badly.
If your good though, you can control your bloom, and the pace you shoot. Therefore, if you have a good pace, you can continuously kill opponents, and that's not luck. It's skill. Halo 3 was luck, considering host was way more advantageous than in Reach.
@rapmetaldemon09 That is what bloom is designed to do, but sadly it DOESN'T do that. 1v1 me. You time your shots, I'll spam. (I will win, regardless of our skill levels). Halo 3's host wasn't that dominant either, I'll add, but much worse than Reach's.
@Zomechin Not true, I used to tie people, or lose by spamming every time, regardless of distance. If you pace your shots steadily the gun actually does MORE damage, than if u spam.give it a try, ever sense I started pacing ive gotten 3x better at reach.
I can definitely see the difference between spamming and pacing, Idk about you, but I do. And Halo 3 host destroyed me, I would put like, 3 shots into them and it won't even hurt them, they'll turn and four shot me. I'll snipe them in the head, and blood will fly everywhere but they won't die...also, in Reach, I know it's hitscan, but it still makes me lead most of the time, which is weird.
2:02 if you DIDN'T spam mid-range, you would've killed him a lot faster. i have no idea why people are complaining so much about such little aspects in the game.
@Halo12396 bc halo is based off of little aspects that can make or break the game or kill or kills. it's important to not have non-reliable aspects in a supposedly reliable and even game.
Well, the bloom is still a matter of chance so its possible that I could have killed him much faster than if I had paced my shots. That just happened to be one of the extremes.
@FBWalshyFTW Well, I guess, but it's hard to deny that pacing your shots mid-range makes a lot more difference than spamming. Though, close range, it's usually luck.
@iReflexXD Sprint also makes it much easier to run away when you put yourself into a bad position, something you couldn't do in the other Halos. Also sprint when coupled with the stupid no bleedthrough melee system makes shooting less rewarding. Just look at the most recent video on my channel and you'll see a perfect example of this.
@iReflexXD Sprint is fine in games with quick killing guns, like CoD, because you can't run away. If you tried to run away in Call of Duty you'd be dead by the time you were turned around. But with how long it takes to kill with a blooming DMR, it becomes way too easy for a player to run away from a battle he knew he'd lose by just turning around ducking his head and sprinting to the safety of his teammates, healthpack or base. This is one of the big reasons why the pace of reach is so slow.
My thoughts on Reach comparing to Halo 3. It had a lot more tweaking to be done. The bloom needs to be reduced. Sure you can say skill is a factor. But look at H3. (OBV NOT THE BEST Halo). But my thoughts is that Reach is a downgrade. I mean you just don't see double kills like Halo. IF you spot two guys, chances are extremely slim on outgunning them. In Halo 3, I think it was very fast paced and the maps were very good. Reach should've had the BR, but Bungie was too worried about changing stuff
@GBVendettaGB No, the story had to make sense. The BR wasn't found or put into action until it was first used on Onyx, years after the loss at Reach. Everything had to be downgraded because the story was going back in time.
@Halo12396 *facepalm* The BR was actually used on Harvest in 2525 and caused the first Covenant death by a human. Also, Reach fell in 2552, and the war between the Humans and Covenant was officially over in early 2553.
That's because it's 2 vs 1....your argument is making you sound like one of those people who pick on guests and new players by going into level 20 team slayer. Your not supposed to outgun 2 people that are of your skill level, or better.
@rapmetaldemon09 obviously not. you're not supposed to. but facing two guys is almost near impossible outgunning them. in halo. level 40+ in mlg. sure you'd get in 1v2 br fights. and sure most of the time you would die. but i would come up with sick nasty doubles, triples, or overkills. my point. reach is not as good. the pace of the game is going to me much slower in competitive play.
I have out DMR'd good kids with no shield, just strafe like hell, crouch, and ghandi hop, slam down on the trigger for the first 3 or 4 shots, then switch up your strafe, pace your shots, and you might come out on top. I also like to pick up the pistol and embarrass kids. The BR is easier to use, so I guess you might get luckier more often. And the new pace, for me is refreshing. It's been the same game with updated graphics and new maps for so long.
@EVLDNA Also, i dont get it. Why are you here if you say Reach has fallen, that Bungie let you down? If you dont like the game why bother watching videos about that game?
@alex117100 If you hadn't figured i out yet, there are a lot of clips that people have made saying reach is is shit and stressing its bad points, I find it funny to listen to what others have to say on the topic... do you have a problem with that?
This only applies to DMR's, with needle rifles, fire as fast as you want, the accuracy isn't significantly reduced - in close (not ridiculously close) to medium range, if you time your shots until the bloom is at least 1/3 the way inside your reticule, you will allways win against someone who's just firing shots off as fast as you can, especially if you're both moving about. With regards to long range, i recommend always crouching and wait for the bloom to almost completely close.
I play Halo since Halo:Combat Evolved..and to this day,it's still my favorite Halo Game, in terms of Campaign AND Multiplayer(even if it didnt have XBL[console BTW]). To me REACH is actually a good change in Multiplayer. In my opinion, everything Bungie added doesnt slow anything down,it actually makes you more alert on how you play. The bloom isnt half bad,you might not have the "ammo wasting" we had in Halo3,but each shot feels like a kick to the -blam!- ;D
Bungie fucked up. They did a good job on balancing the weapons power, but the bloom on the DMR simply slows down too much, i see what Bungie tried to do, they tried to make something that need skill to use, but it turned out to slow down the game. The Armor Abilities also slowed down too much the game.
ALL BUNGIE NEEDED WAS A RE-MAKE OF HALO 2 (OR 3) WITH BALANCED WEPONS AND FAIR MAPS NOT THIS.
<3 Bungie for all the years of making this game. Now I'm cod =[ (notice my Youtube Username ]= )
The thing about the DMR, is even when the bloom is at it's largest, accuracy is still rewarded with a higher change to hit the shot, no matter what range you're at. And don't act like everyone has perfect accuracy all the time. The DMR isn't pefect, but the better player still wins battles 99% of the time. Compare that to the Halo 3 BR on XBL and it's a pretty good primary...
No bleed through sucks. Armor lock is does slow the game down. Camo loadouts in competitive atmosphere is worse though. Anyone who played a lot of games in doubles season 2 knows exactly what I mean.
Countdown and Zealot are great maps on MLG settings. I like Boardwalk as well. Pinnacle has the most unbalanced starting spawns out of any map, and isn't that good of a map to begin with.
@DZ252 Ya, season 2 with invis was terrible. But be honest, on pinnacle when you spawn next to the rocket launcher you took it every time, lol, but your right.season 2 was terrible for team doubles.
@rapmetaldemon09 Ya, I honestly dont have a problem with a lot of armor abilities, except when someone hovers right above you with jetpack, or the invis.
I agree with alot of what these guys are saying. I mean fundamentally, the sprint(which I ALWAYS use) counter-intuitively slows the game down! You have a second's delay after sprinting to shoot or turn or avoid a grenade, it just doesnt have the same flow as the other titles. You have to think ahead in a different way than b4 and it's a much less enjoyable way, like if I sprint there I might have to do a 180 if someones behind me and that might take over a second to do(I play sense 3).
yeah reach is a whole new level of halo and dont get me wrong i played halo since the first one. Games change eventually yeah we all disagree or get mad at some point but we play it because it is still halo. But personally I enjoy Reach Also It seems that they took some equipment from 3 and just put it into your armor. I think its fair to a point so people arent whoring invis and shield regens overshields etc.
I think a lot of the games problems stem back to just how slow it the weapons are to kill. Five shots with a blooming DMR feels like an eternity. If the guns killed faster people sprinting away wouldn't be such and issue, and you'd be able to kill the asshole before he armor locks.

If you go through life taking everything someone says at face value it will be easy to point out their contradictions. You need to learn to read between the lines. I pray to god 343 takes out bloom and brings back the BR OR HALO MAY DIE ALL TOGETHER!!

The needle rifle doesn't feel natural because of the stupid sound it makes and the fact it shoots pink crystals instead of actual needles (which would be awesome). And halo 3 was more slow paced because people would always hop around you when you're shooting them.

they used bloom because of the frames

Hey needle rifle alien weapon doesn't matter if it is fat or something else and of course that the DMR feels natural it is a human weapon

retard, it slows the game down because you have all these abilities to escape your opponents.

ATreeFairy 1 year ago

1. remove bloom completely
2. remake halo 3 maps and release new maps, construct, valhalla, gurdian, last resort, standoff etc.

@techepix Health not important? My good sir, if you are down to just 3 of those health things, even if you have full shields, all somebody has to do is take down the shields and shoot you with a DMR ANYWHERE and you are dead. I'd say that makes it important to make sure you don't go that low.
aauron34 1 year ago
Great vid guys. With a SOLID DMR you can kill 2 players with one clip. Which I have done quite a bit but not all the time. Other than that me and my friends pretty much say the exact same thing you guys were talking about and that's why we just hardly do anything competitive anymore in Reach until an update.

I personally think Armor Lock is broken.
1. It can blow up vehicles that interact with it.
2. Make you one-shot if you beat someone down and they go into it.
3. It restores a portion of their health.
4. It lasts a while (not sure about how much time).
5. it can avoid being stuck by a grenade.
There's probably more reasons, but I can't think of any D:
They should "nerf" it like how CoD developers change gun damage, recoil, etc.

DrDuckDockin 1 year ago
To me, it seemed like you just bashed reach in its entirety, and its weird, because it seems like you guys really enjoy it because you're playing it. I disagree with the notion that gameplay is slower, since armor abilities add extra advantages which make the gameplay just a bit better, like sprint, it makes you go faster, which allows the player to make a more aggressive push against the other team or something like that. Dont say the shotgun is overpowered, cuz its obviously not
smurfydoodle 1 year ago
My main complaint is the term 'Bloom' generally relates to the an HDR effect, not the reticle. lol..
Doofunator 1 year ago
I disagree with most of what you say. I felt Halo 3 was tired, and a less balanced retread of Halo 2. Reach, with bloom and armor abilities, rewards intelligence and strategy, far greater traits than the ability to twitch fire. Sure, Armor Lock is broken (and you have to know its glitches), but planning ahead and waiting for someone to come out of it, or killing someone who attempts to save the armor locker, makes the kill feel that much greater.

aauron34 1 year ago
1) Holy shit nice gameplay.
IAmARad 1 year ago
i disagree with what you said about sprint because it really made no sense. in part 2 of this video you say halo reach is slow paced because people run too slow, but in this you say its slow paced because people run too fast? well which is it? running too slow or too fast? in my opinion sprint increases the pace of the game. every time i spawn i can sprint back to where the action is much faster than i could in halo 3.
ihmen 1 year ago
i agree with what you said about armor lock. it is easily my least favorite thing about the game. armor lock's niche was supposed to be deflecting heavy weapons and countering vehicle splatters. but its used in DMR fights and it slows down the gameplay. armor lock in DMR fights either gives the guy another chance to kill you because he wasnt good enough the first time, or gives the guy enough time for his friends to come in and finish you off because he couldnt do it himself.

@TheUnbeatableSpartan All it does is exposde you as a target. Having the higher ground (or air, in their case) is not necessarily better. It's even dumber in multi team where you have almost everyone attacking you.
ReachForTheHalo 1 year ago
All I hear is two guys complaining because they were probably better at previous Halo games and now they want to whine about it. Everything new to Reach makes the game more balanced. The DMR takes more skill than the BR and it's nice that every gun in the game now has a purpose instead of everyone just picking up a BR and spamming it.
beaver6613 1 year ago
@beaver6613 I'd have to respectfully disagree with that. They're not whining about it, they just explain why they don't like certain aspects of the game, and I definitely disagree that everything new to Reach makes the game more balanced. Certain Armor abilities are favored for certain maps (unbalanced), and if you have a good doubles teammate and you both have armor lock you can be literally unstoppable.
SelfmadeSpartan 1 year ago
@SelfmadeSpartan
Well that's where we disagree, yeah you can pick up the DMR and spam it (and I see people doing that) but if you do, you turn a 5 shot kill into a 9 or 10 shot kill and by that time a skilled player as already put you down. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.
beaver6613 1 year ago

Gods0n1 1 year ago
@Gods0n1 If you don't like armor lock, try the MLG playlist. There's no armor lock there. As for the bloom, pretty much the only weapons that have it are automatic & precision weapons. With sniper rifles, bloom doesn't matter. By the time you can shoot again, the bloom is gone. Bloom is there to encourage timing your shots well instead of just spamming your shots. As for automatic weapons, the bloom is too slight to affect your aim. Remember: Short, controlled bursts. Been that way since Halo 1.
SpeedPacer 1 year ago

You have to think ahead in a different way than b4 and it's a much less enjoyable way, like if I sprint there I might have to do a 180 if someones behind me and that might take over a second to do(I play sense 3).

in terms of the story.
Halo 3 felt right in terms of the bleed over system, so I see where you guys are getting at.
iEuRov2 1 year ago
I agree with your points. Halo Reach is slower and more cumbersome, especially with armor abilities. While the points you prove do make sense, you forgot one thing to add.
Halo Reach was before Halo.
What I mean is that we(as the players)are not a bunch of Master Chief's with perfect aim, hence the bloom. We are not as fast or as strong, hence the movement and shield bleeding issues (which I totally hate). If Bungie made Halo Reach multiplayer like the Halo 2 or 3, it wouldn't make any sense
iEuRov2 1 year ago
Armor lock is annoying. I like the bloom but they need to change it. They need to make the bloom bigger to punish spamming at medium range.
DudeitsLandon 1 year ago
@DudeitsLandon Dude the bloom needs to be slowed. I fire a DMR shot every second to be accurate. I fire the Needle Rifle at the same rate but the bloom gets HUGE after 2 seconds
TheendlessHell1 1 year ago
@TheendlessHell1 I meant to say that they should make it expand faster and not neccesarily bigger, if they did this then if you time your shots correctly like every one second perhaps, the bloom will have a 1 second calm down rate, so if your spam it then the bloom will expand hella fast. Understand that? I think tis a good idea.
DudeitsLandon 1 year ago
But what are your opinions on the MLG playlist? IMO they fixed alot.
Ins3ktz 1 year ago
i think your description is a little off, "pointing out what they did right as much as possible" as has been said, its more admirable to just take a balanced look, but thats extremely minor. I do dislike the slowness, I havent played 3 since reach but its noticably slower and the gap between the best and worst has certainly dropped off. One thing not many people have picked up on though is that tight teamwork and positioning has a greater effect. Teamwork > skill now I think

BBbloodbrotherCCCX 1 year ago
The only complaint I have for the game is the game play. Sure this is a great game, but I am at the point where the game is boring for me. I like how most of the weapons are balanced, and most of the games you get in are fair. Not all, but most. The only thing that I really don't like is the grenades. I think they are way over powered, and that really kills the game play. I think if they were to make the grenades like halo 3, the game will be balanced.

This pretty much nails exactly my thoughts on Halo Reach. Another issue I have is that power weapons are now entirely what wins you games rather than in halo 3 where if someone had a snipe or rockets they could be taken down. Armour ability + power weapon = beast and the DMR being such a weak weapon means they're so much worse relative to power weapons than halo 3.
youhalgh 1 year ago
@hazeandguitar because people who play halo 3 actually care about winning and people who play halo reach are new to the halo series and dont really care about winning and communicating.. since win and loss doesnt really matter as compared to halo 3, its more of a individual rank
AbawoyaH 1 year ago
@AbawoyaH
That's bullshit. Halo 3 was the game that spawned so many new "Halo" fans, but they weren't even Halo fans...they were strictly Halo 3 fans. Therefore, no matter how Reach would have turned out, those Halo 3 fan boys would not have been happy with it.

hazeandguitar 1 year ago
@hazeandguitar Who knows. People for some reason change their behavior(not strategy, their overall behavior/personality) depending on the game they are playing sometimes
aauron34 1 year ago
I think it's more about how you play the game, than the game itself. You can't "prefer" a loadout, you should pick it depending on the map your on. Depending on how people play the game, it can be just as fast, if not faster, than Halo 3. Teamwork and strategy is key in Halo Reach, 1v1 battles in team games are just not going to cut it anymore, and that's what competitive play is all about. People just got too hooked on Halo 3 in my opinion, they wouldn't be happy no matter how the game came out
rapmetaldemon09 1 year ago
i hate armor lock. it just shows how big of a scrub you are. cant win in a dmr battle? use armor lock because you have no skill whatsoever. and then there are the kids who camp the whole damn game with invis: also extremely bad. drop shield is unfair in some game types, but it's only really in team objective. the other AAs like sprint, evade, hologram are fine IMO.

MaxxeGaming 1 year ago
ok, the point of reticle bloom is to balance the melee and the guns.

Halo12396 1 year ago
@Halo12396 Yep. But MLG starts with Needle Rifles and DMR, which are both affected by bloom. The whole game is a coin toss when it comes to aiming, and you still start off with Sprint, which is detrimental to fun, fast paced gameplay, in my honest opinion. I just watched a game of MLG pros win a game of MLG 50-0. Not once did anyone time their shots. Bloom is seriously hurting this game pretty badly.
Zomechin 1 year ago
@Zomechin I know i have no hope of convincing people otherwise, so I'm just gonna stop talking.
Halo12396 1 year ago
@Zomechin
If your good though, you can control your bloom, and the pace you shoot. Therefore, if you have a good pace, you can continuously kill opponents, and that's not luck. It's skill. Halo 3 was luck, considering host was way more advantageous than in Reach.
rapmetaldemon09 1 year ago
@rapmetaldemon09 That is what bloom is designed to do, but sadly it DOESN'T do that. 1v1 me. You time your shots, I'll spam. (I will win, regardless of our skill levels). Halo 3's host wasn't that dominant either, I'll add, but much worse than Reach's.
Zomechin 1 year ago
@Zomechin Not true, I used to tie people, or lose by spamming every time, regardless of distance. If you pace your shots steadily the gun actually does MORE damage, than if u spam.give it a try, ever sense I started pacing ive gotten 3x better at reach.
popshufruitchu 1 year ago
@Zomechin

Well, the bloom is still a matter of chance so its possible that I could have killed him much faster than if I had paced my shots. That just happened to be one of the extremes.

The sprint is the best because it enables the move from one point to another with great rapidity ...
We agree to go from point A to point B quickly is the best tactic ...
The sprint is also a major asset in this game for tactical jumps that are tremendous advantages ...
The sprint is always a huge advantage even for a person not knowing how to jump tactics ...
Sorry for the mistakes, I'm French
iReflexXD 1 year ago
@iReflexXD Sprint also makes it much easier to run away when you put yourself into a bad position, something you couldn't do in the other Halos. Also sprint when coupled with the stupid no bleedthrough melee system makes shooting less rewarding. Just look at the most recent video on my channel and you'll see a perfect example of this.
SaustinGaming 1 year ago
@SaustinGaming Yes but with sprint I use the jumps tactics
iReflexXD 1 year ago

GBVendettaGB 1 year ago
@GBVendettaGB No, the story had to make sense. The BR wasn't found or put into action until it was first used on Onyx, years after the loss at Reach. Everything had to be downgraded because the story was going back in time.

@Halo12396 Cool. Story doesn't matter when it comes to gameplay.
Zomechin 1 year ago
@Halo12396 *facepalm* The BR was actually used on Harvest in 2525 and caused the first Covenant death by a human. Also, Reach fell in 2552, and the war between the Humans and Covenant was officially over in early 2553.

That's because it's 2 vs 1....your argument is making you sound like one of those people who pick on guests and new players by going into level 20 team slayer. Your not supposed to outgun 2 people that are of your skill level, or better.
rapmetaldemon09 1 year ago

Bungie let us down in a major way...
EVLDNA 1 year ago
@EVLDNA Also, i dont get it. Why are you here if you say Reach has fallen, that Bungie let you down? If you dont like the game why bother watching videos about that game?
alex117100 1 year ago
@alex117100 If you hadn't figured i out yet, there are a lot of clips that people have made saying reach is is shit and stressing its bad points, I find it funny to listen to what others have to say on the topic... do you have a problem with that?
EVLDNA 1 year ago
Lets face it, we're watching this clip for a reason, REACH HAS FALLEN.
EVLDNA 1 year ago

Furyan117 1 year ago
HaloAsReligion 1 year ago
I disagree with your point on armor abilities that they are not 'broken' armor lock, is broken.
Nitrozity 1 year ago

DZ252 1 year ago
@DZ252 Ya, season 2 with invis was terrible. But be honest, on pinnacle when you spawn next to the rocket launcher you took it every time, lol, but your right.season 2 was terrible for team doubles.
popshufruitchu 1 year ago
@popshufruitchu
I was Onyx in season 2 for doubles, because I knew what loadout to use for which map
rapmetaldemon09 1 year ago
@rapmetaldemon09 Ya, but I was agreeing with DZ252, a lot of kids used invisibility and crouched in a corner.
popshufruitchu 1 year ago
@popshufruitchu
Yeah it's true, alot of people abuse the armor abilities. People still abuse jet pack in doubles too, but it's not as bad as the invis was
rapmetaldemon09 1 year ago
@rapmetaldemon09 Ya, I honestly dont have a problem with a lot of armor abilities, except when someone hovers right above you with jetpack, or the invis.
popshufruitchu 1 year ago
@rapmetaldemon09 Don't forget Armor Lock

I agree with alot of what these guys are saying. I mean fundamentally, the sprint(which I ALWAYS use) counter-intuitively slows the game down! You have a second's delay after sprinting to shoot or turn or avoid a grenade, it just doesnt have the same flow as the other titles. You have to think ahead in a different way than b4 and it's a much less enjoyable way, like if I sprint there I might have to do a 180 if someones behind me and that might take over a second to do(I play sense 3).
molesticles 1 year ago 9
@molesticles what slows it down the most, is running away and avoiding death
Basu117 1 year ago
@molesticles It generally slows down slayer games. I wouldn't say it slows down objective games though.

It really annoys me when people do the little swirly circle thing while using the sniper rifle. That is so stupid. Stop.
plfish77 1 year ago
yeah reach is a whole new level of halo and dont get me wrong i played halo since the first one. Games change eventually yeah we all disagree or get mad at some point but we play it because it is still halo. But personally I enjoy Reach Also It seems that they took some equipment from 3 and just put it into your armor. I think its fair to a point so people arent whoring invis and shield regens overshields etc.
CookieGod666 1 year ago
I think a lot of the games problems stem back to just how slow it the weapons are to kill. Five shots with a blooming DMR feels like an eternity. If the guns killed faster people sprinting away wouldn't be such and issue, and you'd be able to kill the asshole before he armor locks.
