To the people comparing this with the video....SERIOUSLY??? You do know the video was dubbed, right? There's also several different versions of this song, and who sings it. The video is not the definitive version. You can like it, or not like it, but stop fussing about it and move on.
I like this video, and the Mungo and Rumple. I think a few of us are too used to the video version and keep comparing lives to that. xD This version is very good I think, but the heavier accents on the video allow for more projection. The lyrics sound clearer there because "Weath-ah!" rings better than "Weath-err" and is more sonically pleasing. Can't criticize singing because I probably couldn't do better XD, but the choreography seems rushed, but at the same time, so do the lyrics sometimes?

I don't see why people are giving bad comments...you shouldnt compare every Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer to Drew Varley and Jo Gibb, every performer is different...I like this pair, they're quite good!! And they're not out of the breath, they just take quick breaths between, Michael Gruber does that in the film version as well...
@jmj23435 She's still wearing a unitard. But, in live versions, Rumpleteazer puts tiger printed leotard, arm, and leg ensemble, as Mungojerrie puts on the baggy shirt. They actually do this in the movie as well. If you look closely, you can see it on Teazer. Ever notice how she's lighter for all the other numbers before, puts on the tiger stripes to look like Mungo, and then is light again?

Dancing was great. Singing was... Er... My favorite part was 2:53 to 3:00 when Mungo was acting all innocent. But before that when they were laughing they sounded and acted like apes.

In the original broadway version mungojerrie and rumpleteazer were enchanted clowns to entertain bustopher jones, they were played by etcetera and carbucketty. That's why they are different in both costume and personality. They still have those old roots. After the change they just got rid of etcetera and carbucketty and made mungo and rumple full-characters of the show.

Okay, did anyone else notice that they were COMPLETELY out of breath? I mean, don't get me wrong, anybody who does this number gets a little wheezy at the end, but these guys couldn't breathe the whole song! Plus, I really don't like it when they bring the "lingere" style out with a bang on Rumpleteazer's costume. I like it better when it's more hidden.

NICE JOB! I LOVE this show. such a shame lots of things got cut out of the show but i've noticed not just the National Tour doing the cutting. (i've seen Regionals cut stuff too,heck Sacramento Music circus cut everything the tour cut as well as the "memory" curtain call music
the reason is (i know because the show i'm in has done a lot of cutting) most of the people that aren't fans of CATS say that there is no story line, and some songs are irrelevant to the story line, so it makes it seem more like it is just a bunch of random songs (for example Battle of the Peeks and the Pollicles or Battle of Billy Mcawl) and the finale might as well be Act 3 of the show so that is why they cut Memory plus it slows the momentum of everything.

I understand why Cats is such a hated show around the world... I am in it right now and our director made some changes that make it more cat-like, funnier, understandable... but the original videos and versions such as this really make me cringe. Really.

When I asked around to see if people would like to see the show, I got replies such as "Oh, it's the one that makes no sense?" or "The boring one, right? No." and those replies came more often than not. It has a bad reputation, overall, and I have read many harsh critiques about it.
I know a lot of people complain that it has "no plot", but that doesn't really matter so much. It's still a masterpiece. Too bad more people don't appreciate it.
The only reason people don't see it is because the tour has butchered it. And Yes, I have seen it on tour. I saw it in Feburary, and I was incredibly disappointed. Only three of the actors had ANY dance training at all. I could've gone up there and replaced any character except Victoria and Misto. THe singing was awful. Thats why it has a bad reputation.
While I like the film production of Cats, Drew and Jo were voiced over by Paul Baker and Vicky Coote, so I don't think its fair to compare this performance to that one.

Holy crap! They are AMAZING dancers! Everything just flowed perfectly. I loved the garter stockings. That was cute and it made her girly. But she was trying a bit too hard. Overacting a bit, I guess.
This is my favorite song from Cats!! I think this version is better than the London version overall, but you can understand the words better in the London version.
It seems a little like they're rushing it way too much. It was very cute, it just seemed too fast. Like they'd take too much time doing part of the dance then they'd try to make it all up in 3 seconds.

This is my favorite song from Cats!! I think this version is better than the London version overall, but you can understand the words better in the London version.

It seems a little like they're rushing it way too much. It was very cute, it just seemed too fast. Like they'd take too much time doing part of the dance then they'd try to make it all up in 3 seconds.

Personally, I'd love to see the original preformance but seeing as I am not Doctor Who that will probably never happen. Ive become acquainted with the OBC album, but Im glad M&R sing their own song now. I am also too well acquainted with the video preformance. *le sigh*

They don't use it anymore because of the timing of the show. It needs to be a slightly shorter show for the tour.

OMG I love them! They're so adorable! I AM used to hearing their voices with Cockney accents, like Jo Gibb and Drew Varley. They will always be my favorite Mungo and Teazer. <3

This Rumpleteazer sounds a little odd with the level of vibratto she uses in comparison to her Mungojerrie. Eh, might be just me, though.

I saw the US tour in 2006 as well but I saw it in London Ontario. Did anyone notice that they spelled Rumpelteazer wrong as the title?!
