It would seem that Pierce needs to learn how to do interviews with people who need to translate at the same time. Clearly, Meryl has done this before. She did it seamlessly.

Sometimes Americans are so clueless when dealing with natives of another country.

they did good. they spoke a little, waited for him to finish translating, then spoke some more.

no one was rude, or snobby or impatient. they seemed to be enjoying it.
