  • You remind me of whaynes world

  • Thanks.. Made my new flashback delay pedal more fun...

  • is that Nova delay? Btw i just bought DD7 and i have my old DD3 and combined it. They sounds really wide. I love it! Can you gimme any tricks to use delays? Thanks! High five from Jakarta Indonesia :)

  • Great job, if you want the perfect sound, follow this link for a deep study of edge's sound : amnesta.net

  • thank you very much sir, im soundig like the edge with de 2 in the streets preset of the guitar rig program, great lesson!!!!

  • Nothing the edge at all you are playing the intro totally wrong i know for a fact?

  • have you tried line 6 dl4, eventide time factor, tc elctronics nova? which do you recommend

  • Killer guitar secret revealed!!!! Thank you!!!!

  • can you get that sound with an analog delay like an MXR carbon copy?

  • Really helpful ! Thanks so much !

  • You've neglected to mention the fact that the delay settings need to be set to dotted 8ths.

  • @muymalmoon I didn't forget. In an effort to make the video accessible to many people, I left out those kinds of details. Plus I think the demo I gave spells it out well enough for people to create it on their own.

  • @GaragebandandBeyond So you are saying that you can set a delay pedal that is restricted repeat on quarter notes to repeat at 3/16th notes?

  • @muymalmoon ummm... no. When did I say that?

  • @GaragebandandBeyond To quote something you said earlier... "I didn't forget. ... I left out those kinds of details. Plus I think the demo I gave spells it out well enough for people to create it on their own."

Dotted 8th notes delay sets the repeat on 3/16ths. Unless I misunderstood you, you said that you told people how to set their delay for dotted 8ths without explicitly stating so. Unless you are setting the repeats for dotted 8ths, you will not sound like Dave Evans.

  • @muymalmoon If you're beginner and look to your average delay pedal for a dotted 1/8 note setting you will not find it. While using terminology like dotted 1/8 notes is accurate, it's not something that EVERYONE would understand. I try to make my videos as easy as possible for people to understand, thus I left out the gritty details.

  • @GaragebandandBeyond I'm all for simplicity, but inaccuracy not so much. I had a basic delay pedal and became frustrated when I couldn't replicate the Edge delay sound at all. Instead I bought a higher end delay pedal and the dotted 8th setting took care of the problem.

  • @muymalmoon My "re-creation" is exactly that, a RE-CREATION. I honestly think that what I played sounds right and that the instructions I gave were solid. You are one of over 67,000 people who think my video isn't right.

  • @GaragebandandBeyond 67,000 didn't vote. I can't wait to see you make a video and set your delay pedal to dotted 8ths and only 3 to 4 repeats.

  • @muymalmoon Their is NO exact preset on the DD3 for dotted 8th notes

  • Can you give the settings?

    I have a boss me 50

  • @kippenslager Hey there,

I have a video on my new channel under the same title, which gives you the exact delay setting. My new channel is Garageband and Beyond, look for it there!

  • wow dude that sounds awesome! i was really having trouble finding out his exact delay effects cuz, for me, theyre a little complicated.

  • @holyshishkibob Try a dotted 8th setting on the delay pedal.

  • Awesome!

  • crazy good.. I thank ya kindly

  • It´s realy perfect!

Thank you, now I´m still having found, what i´m looking for!

  • awesome lesson dude

  • That's a beautiful Telecaster. What kind is it?

  • This makes want to break out my guitar I haven't used in over a year

  • I use a line 6 Echo Park, all i have to do to get the delay settings right is to choose the dotted eight rythm.

  • what kind of guitar do you use in this clip?

  • I have a Boss DD-6, what would the settings be on that?

  • The delay is slightly off. Listen to the song some more. You got too much reverb or what it is that makes this very non-distinctive.

  • nice one, thanks :)

  • beautiful video!

might i inquire as to what type of telecaster you are using. is it a dean or fender?

  • @jorghad6 dean makes a telecaster or is it a copy??

  • thank you for this! ive had trouble trying to get the delay right, one question tho, about how much mix did you put into it?

  • 50/50

  • @lbarringer good job dude! u really got it!

  • Nice Guitar dude... and come on you fool!, It's hard to play with delay and It's hard to teach a song... so, both things are hard! 5/5

  • use line 6 with pod farm it comes preset

  • Make your own video and do better.

  • tanx man 5/5

  • NICE!

  • Great lesson!

  • nice job man. I tried it after I saw this and it sounded awesome! Thanks for posting. Its crazy how simple "the Edge's" melodies are...

  • I'm really happy to hear that it worked so well for you!

Please check out my other videos! I've put a good one up to learn how to easily create tracks to practice to using Garageband!

  • Thanks so much! GREAT tutorial! Delay settings would be nice that's all.

  • Hilarious; and you're welcome.

  • well done.

  • you know the edge uses about 4 different delays at once right?

  • Not on that song.

I know it for a fact.

  • He usually uses two, but on Streets he uses only one usually

  • @desr2395 He only uses 2 in the studio version. Live versions he only uses 1.

  • Nice man! love 3:40! good job!

  • you are doing a fantastic job, great and thanks Berher

  • are you the kid out of dodgeball?

  • Nope

  • Hey guy !

Thanks a lot for your video ;) I'm just discovering "the edge" way of playing and you really help me !

    Best wishes !

    lekangoorouf

  • thx really help me !!!! keep on the great work if u can more of u2 songs :P

  • If you are using a LIne 6 pedal, when you switch to the "stereo delay" setting it defaults to the appropriate settings for this song.

They are Delay Time: around 10:15, Repeats: Around 1:15, Tweak: around 11:15, Tweez: around 1:15, Mix: around 1:30.

Just figured this out, thought it might be helpful.

  • what brand of delay do you use? just curious cause i need to buy one and dont really know what to get.

  • Sorry for the very late response. I own and love the Boss DD3. It's cheap and simple. I would highly recommend it as your first delay pedal.

Good luck! I've made some new videos you might like to check out too!

  • @lbarringer ive got a dd3, dont suppose u could tell me the settings ure using please? just cant nail that 8 beat sound... thanks :)

  • Set the delay to quarter note triplets (3 beats played for every 2 counted in 4/4 time), then for the intro you play eighth notes. If you're not already familiar with these rhythmic ideas (1) look up quarter note triplets on youtube or (2) ask a more advanced musician to demonstrate. You can do lots of other fun stuff with delays if you start messing with triplets.

  • Thanks for posting this. It should be quiet helpful for a lot of people.

  • I love you Teley! ^_^

  • wow - Ive been wondering for years how he gets that sound. Thanks so much!

  • Thank you so much. I can't believe it took me so long to find someone to explain & show me how the Edge uses his delay for this song.

I'm more of an accoustic guitar player & though I can play the song accoustically, it of course is missing 'The Edge' sound.

    Nice job.

  • nice job

  • excellent!!!

    thanks!!!

  • hes using a dl 4 from line 6 u can play everything from u2 whit that pedal

  • Awesome, thanks for sharing.

  • What a beautiful Telecaster you have!

Could you tell me wich delay pedal(?) you are using?

Nice guitar, nice sound, nice playing!

  • what are the delay settings?

  • Nice...thank you! What delay pedal/amp combo are you using?

  • Cool Man. Just what I was looking for. Thanks.

    Know any John Lee Hooker?

  • I LOVE THIS

  • That was really helpful!Added to favourites.

  • how do you get such a good sound on your recording? do you use your webcam or do you have the computer miked?

  • I am just using my Casio camera, but after watching your video I'd say your biggest problem is volume. The little mics can't handle any real volume. Just try putting your mic further away and your guitar at a lower volume. Good luck!

  • great job very helpful, the edge is a genius

  • that's cool :)
