i live in england and our ISP is NTLworld and we haven't had one single problem with them. they respect your privacy well and they only contact you if it's serious. my friend steph's ISP is tiscali. she was on a 2mb broadband but she soon found out that they reverted her broadband to 1mb without notice, and she was still paying the 2mb fees. thats what i call a bad ISP. if that happened to me i'd leave them immediately.

yh 'Phorm' is a company which is based as illegal, but they are joined up with BT, Virgin and TalkTalk. it is an advertising company that is really annoying. I found this out from the Gadget show on Channel 5 (England).

My problem with advertisers is that they completely dumb down and (as bush may say) de-creativitize great, unique ideas into a generic product. They opportunistically prey on the unintelligent people that need all the help they can get.

It's not an invasion of privacy. However, I would NOT be in favor of it. Basically, the internet is not a Right, it is an agreement between the ISP and the user. If English people wish to not deal with that then they should use an ISP which does not do that. If for some crazy reason there is no ISP available, and there is a demand for such a service, then start it. Or you can get Linux and STEAL internet. You can break WEP in < 5 min, and have about a 50% probability of breaking WPA < 10 min.

hi i live in england and also watch the gadget show the thing i dont like about phorm is that it will be an op out service when it should be an op in service. will isp's drop the prices if phorm is on i dont think so because the the winners here we the customer are the losers. by the way these are the isp's Virgin Media, BT and TalkTalk thank god i am not with one of them.
