I usually hate when filmmakers and studios release a DVD with just the movie, only to re-release it again with everything the first version should have had. But the fact that James told us ahead of time shows how much he respects his fans and makes me appreciate him more.
when he mentioned the Home Tree being destroyed I got shivers. That moment killed me inside. Mostly when Jake said "look into her memories. There's no green there. They killed their mother!" I sobbed
And only so many plots exist, pretty much all of modern film and literature has to borrow from something, the only way to avoid that pitfall is to make something flat out avant garde and then you guys would criticize such a work for being pretentious and inacessible. Fact is taking something old and presenting it in a new way is what film essentially is.
Honestly people act like Avatar is the most unoriginal movie ever, as if 90% of Hollywood right now isn't worse in this regard. Avatar just get's the most flak because god forbid some people actually like it, because regardless of the derivativeness of the story it's actually pretty well done.
Oh and you gotta come up with a better criticism than "It's Pocahontas in space", that's not a criticism. I can't think of a movie that ever used the premise of Pocahontas in space before.
James Cameron's Avatar was inspired by satan, those blue creatures look EXACTLY like painting from this satanist's testimony. James Cameron said himself that he had this vision and story long before the technology was available. That's why James Cameron wrote everything down and then tucked it away in a drawer until it was technologically possible.
skip to 5:58 in the video below to see the demon picture in the satanist's testimony:
Avatar is truly an amazing film! :D You can check out my special unboxing of the Avatar limited gift set, 6-disc deluxe edition with figurine on my YouTube channel. Just search for "Avatar" in the search bar on my channel, and you'll find it :)

@DannyAdamTV Your an idiot. He has the top 2 movies ever created. Avatar and Titanic which are rated #1 and 2 of all time. Shows how ignorant you really are.
A blender huh? seems to me he took the script from fern gully and pocahontas and then crossed out the characters names and changed the planet and date then put in his names......
Avatar has a cliche, slack-dick story. I am more of an ALIENS, Terminator fan. Still, every Sci-fi fan appreciates Cameron for all he has done for the genre and with Avatar he has assured Sci-fi a place in movie-makers' minds for years to come.
Who cares that Avatar's storyline is similar to Pocahontas and Dances With Wolves. The movie was done in a brilliant new way and was at least as different as it was similar.
Also, James Cameron ain't in the fucking business of saving planet earth, so don't be so critical of his response to the environmental question. Hes not god, hes a damn filmmaker. His response was good enough, and so is his movie.
@TheWhiteStripes3 In my opinion, the story of Avatar is a joke. It's incredibly cliche, but I think Cameron had no interest in making a good story, the point of the movie was to be a huge blockbuster with incredible cgi, and that's what it was. The material they needed to collect was called Unobtanium for example, clearly a joke.
@damienlenny Look up unobtainium on wikipedia, realise that you are wrong. I don't like the name personally, but it's not a joke.
The story is cliched but how do you conclude from that fact that Cameron "had no interest" in making a good story? His films are hardly deep but his success has always been about combining exciting visuals and exciting stories with a human angle. It isn't easy to write a story that engages people, even a cliched one. CGI alone wouldn't have made it the success it is
You know, I can only "forgive" you that kind of comment mainly for the reason that it appears that you are still so young. However I truly believe you got it all wrong. So many good directors out there man, so many...
@TheWhiteStripes3 exactly, Americans don't care for an entirely new story with new stuff and completely original features, all we lazy bastards care about is something successful in the past, coming back and being shiny. We just want it shiny, we don't care if it has been done before, and James Cameron shined up Avatar really damn well, regardless of its similarities like Pocahontas and Daces With Wolves.
I have yet to meet a single person whom I respect who doesn't like Avatar. Everyone I've met who doesn't like Avatar bases that opinion on the grounds that it isn't a crappy alternative movie made by a 14 year old Italian girl in her garage about a cookie that learns to escape social stereotypes and goes on to become a loaf of bread.
Fun fact, his early movies were funded by 'a consortium of dentists'......
He's a tool in Hollywood, his movies are VERY EFFECTIVE and PYSCHOLOGICALLY moving, funny, I remember a certain DR Dave Ewen Cameron who did work for the MK Ultra project for the CIA.....
@Pacimpersonator you know what you can wait till 2012 and the second Avatar film will be released and you can also wait till 2015 where the third Avatar film will be released
Fk off Cameron you stupid elitist Commy bastard, telling the world we need to go back and live in caves with wood and stone while he keeps his 10 mansions and drives his 500 hummers."We have to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels" he tells us,so we can stop climate change and save the world! These people from the far Communist Elitist Left like this dick.head from Canada are very dangerous people, and you cant find any bigger hypocrite than Cameron.WAKE UP PEOPLE THESE SCAREMONGERS ARE OUT THERE
Personally I think Avatar was a little over rated (though still very good in it's own right), I am however looking forward to seeing how he handles it as a trilogy which should be very interesting.
New Story Line (PART 3) for James Cameron's AVP (ALIENS VS. PREDATORS - Home Worlds in 3D):
Part III: Bishop, A highly trained USMC Class III Human Flesh/Android learns of the Aliens Breeding grounds and reports that the planet is In-Habitable without the Atmosperic CO2 Suits as well as Advance (Military Class) Bio Armor Suits for Tactical Assaults...Within reach of a Fully Armed Drop Ship(Armada Class), Bishop descends upon the Planet's Atmosphere to secure a landing zone for the Nostromo...
@Premium97 Just a question, but what the hell would ever compell you to write a treatment for a screenplay you weren't hired to write? Why not just do your own entire screenplay and shoot it, then put it on YouTube? Then people would definitely respect you if it was any good. As it stands, you're just some guy who made what he thinks would be a better version of an already existent film. No rudeness intended, I just wanna know.
New Story Line (PART 2) for James Cameron's AVP (ALIENS VS. PREDATORS - Home Worlds in 3D):
PART II: The Predators are ready to launch a massive Invasion on the Aliens HomeWorld after learning of a Holographic projection of 3 raiding parties(3 Pods) sent down for the Hunt...They Never Heard Back...?? Due to the Aliens Atmospheric Pressure and Climate Conditions...the 3 Predators find themselves in for a surprise, a Breeding Ground Deep within the Earth's Core...Are these Predators ready for.??
I really admire how Cameron, while it still may be very implausible, is at least trying to make his story which takes place in the future and in outer space highly believable. Unlike Star Wars which takes place in a fictional reality where humanity has colonized an entire galaxy, or like Star Trek where humanity has somehow broken one of the basic laws of physics with warp drive. He knows that all he needs to create an escapist experience is one planet and it needn't be that far away. Brilliant!
New Story for James Cameron's AVP (ALIENS VS. PREDATORS in 3D):
The Year is 2032: Weyland Corp's New technology advances on the Aliens HomeWorld, Satelite imagery picks up the Heat signatures of the several Alien Queens. Weyland Corp sends out the Nostromo Crew with an Advanced Bishop accompanied by Ripley to seek out and wipe out the Entire Colony. Not Only does Lt. Ripley and her crew encounter a massive breeding grounds...They Encounter The Predators...
@SolidSnake032486 NO arnold in this one, Lt. Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and New Advance (Military USMC Class III) Bishop (Lance Hendriksen)...
This is a new script story that I Wrote and came up with, it's more Original & Authentic to the way "ALiens Vs. Predators" should come into contact...and Not on Planet Earth.
And do you think The Matrix is Ghost in The Shell with Keanu Reeves? Please watch Ghost in The Shell and you'll never look at the Matrix the same way again. GITS is an awesome influential cult adult animated Sci-fi movie from Japan that inspired The Matrix and you'll see why Matrix is near shot-to-shot.
James next time so do not go on compromises with the limitation of movielenght in Imax theaters only being 2 hours and 40 some minuttes go all the way
I CANN WAIT FOR THE EXTENDED COLECTOR EDITION THEN AVATR WILL BE COMPLET WIL HAVE WITH THE DELETED SCENE- 223 MINUTES THATS THE REAL STORY THE REAL CUT OF THE FILM THE CUT IN CINEMA WAS BUCHERD!!!!
So you thought this was the biggest Sci-fi letdown since you saw The Matrix right? and prefer Star Wars especially the prequels and Transformers over Avatar? well afterall Cameron is a fan of Japanimation especially Miyazaki did you know that? you can tell that he had references to Princess Mononoke, Castle in The Sky and Nausicaa for this one. Which had better visuals? Transformers or Avatar?
@Johnlindsey289 I don't know if I would call it a let down, since I wasn't expecting it to be that great. I never could figure out why people were getting so excited over the trailers and anticipation. It was about what I expected, which wasn't much. The Matrix wasn't a let down. I liked it. I just wasn't in love or obsessed with it. I prefer Star Wars over most things. I know the prequels have a lot of problems, but I do get more enjoyment from them than Avatar. Last question: Transformers.
@badcompanyization I actually haven't seen the sequels, so I don't know how I feel about them yet, even though everyone hates them. If they truly are bad, well... I can't say they should have left it as one, because it seemed like just the beginning of a story. Then again, I haven't seen it in a long time. Maybe I just remember it that way. At the moment I can only say that it's too bad if they really didn't do a good job with the sequels.
@badcompanyization I agree about the visuals, though I thought there were some ways that they could have been more true to the cartoon. As for the quality of the movies themselves, I liked the first one. I've only seen the second one once, but I don't remember it being all that good. still great visuals though.
"Avatar" is nothing compare to "Titanic"...maybe you only watched it once! but i've watched it 48 times...really! And i never get boared!! Thumbs up for "Titanic"!!
Are you making a movie soon? I enjoy your videos a lot. Great work. If you see me driving around LA wearing my spaceman costume driving your Add car, selling my movies, know I'm keeping busy, until I get the chance to audition for you and others. If you would like to see my work google my name DENNIS WOODRUFF. Telephone number for auditions 323 848 7164, and 323 309 1282. I'm ready to work when the phone rings!
The only reason I like Avatar is I am sick and tire of the alien attack humans and alien invasions on earth. In Avatar, humans attacking aliens are humans are antagonist, thats exactly what so good about this movie
@Assault912 "The only reason I like Avatar is I am sick and tire of the alien attack humans and alien invasions on earth. In Avatar, humans attacking aliens are humans are antagonist, thats exactly what so good about this movie"
Did you see District 9? It came out the summer before Avatar.
it's something new and yes, I agree... but I think we're gonna see more from Jim... I mean, he's right btw... if our future would need some minerals like Unobtanium for Earth, the humans would tear the entire Universe just to get it... I think the core concept of the movie was "rebuilt" when he helped the oil spill incident.
@79Pisces03 In no way am I trying to say this in a rude way, but how would he be able to reintroduce Grace and Quaritch in the sequels of Avatar if they already died.
Responsible for Terminator 2 and despite being a chick flick, Titanic is the second highest grossing movie of all time while Avatar is number 1 by almost 1 billion dollars. Even Spielberg can't catch him.
Last, but not least this movie ripped off: Halo, Matrix, Surrogates, Reign of Fire, Dances with Wolves, Terminator Salvation, Atlantis, King Kong, Jurassic Park and they robbed the graphics design from Avatar: the Last Air Bender. It's stereotypical: So Aliens have to act like Indians? So Marines are stupid? So all Tribal life is perfect and serene? So all industry is wicked evil?
This movie wasn't great people. James knows it and he's milking this thing dry. Open your eyes.
Lol, yeah well, he's still an Al Gore wannabe, he was still stereo typical, and he still ripped off over pretty much every movie from 2000 to 2010. But yes, seeing the future marines in action was cool.
@icefiredarksector748 but every movie ripped of some other movie man ,, thats how tha world is,sadly,, harry potter for example,, got ripped of by lots of movies,,i hate that shit to man but what can we do? :(
Why don't you act like a man and respect other people. You got something to say? Say it, otherwise you got nothing but weak petty insults, cursing me out over a CGI flick. You got a problem with what I said about A.G. wannabe?
We're making soldiers out to be villains and all they did was shoot some cat people. Do you people even understand what a marine is? Their job is defend territory and KILL the ENEMY. Their not going to be perfect, pacifistic, tree huggers and I'm sure they wouldn't have cared about ALIEN ANIMALS. So when tribal aliens kill, it always compassionate?
And by the way, he's in the body of another species and then has sexual intercorse with the alien woman. Isn't that something like beastiality?
This is an Al Gore wannabe, making billions off of people's stupidity. A politically correct piece of trash, dedicated to making marines (people who die for us) like murders, while they poorly attempt to make us sympathize for blue cat people. Tribal people always kill gently, like when the Aztec would rip the hearts of out innocent women and children for their "gods". How could the man who made Aliens be such a jerk. It's a sad, tired story with the same conclusion: People bad, alien, good.
@Avatar2kelty I'm super excited about 'Avatar 2'. In it, Jake and Neytiri are HIGHLY likely going to have a child together. The humans are most likely going to come back, and Grace is going to return. XD
I have a great Idea how to watch Avatar 2!!! I'll build a time-machine, then I'll go to the future, I'll buy Avatar 2 blu-ray, then I'll go back and sell it for millions!!!
It snapped in me when i looked at a plant i stepped on and realized how far out into space one would have to travel to find other plants let alone any form of life at all.. now life seems very precious to me. thank you Cameron!! now Im stuck worrying about deforestation and expanding human populations : (
@desley42 i bet ur one of those stuck-ups that only appriciates tarantino , polanksy, kimkiduc or kusturica (don't get me wrong... absolutely great filmmakers) but if ur not , but out dude! this one is a GAME CHANGER!

This movie just didn't do anything for me really. I thought it was just "okay". Wasn't particularly wowed by the visuals or 3D quality either.
slave2moonlight 1 year ago
@slave2moonlight
Johnlindsey289 1 year ago
@Johnlindsey289 I don't know if I would call it a let down, since I wasn't expecting it to be that great. I never could figure out why people were getting so excited over the trailers and anticipation. It was about what I expected, which wasn't much. The Matrix wasn't a let down. I liked it. I just wasn't in love or obsessed with it. I prefer Star Wars over most things. I know the prequels have a lot of problems, but I do get more enjoyment from them than Avatar. Last question: Transformers.
slave2moonlight 1 year ago
@slave2moonlight Did you think that they should have left The Matrix at one movie?
badcompanyization 1 year ago
@badcompanyization I actually haven't seen the sequels, so I don't know how I feel about them yet, even though everyone hates them. If they truly are bad, well... I can't say they should have left it as one, because it seemed like just the beginning of a story. Then again, I haven't seen it in a long time. Maybe I just remember it that way. At the moment I can only say that it's too bad if they really didn't do a good job with the sequels.
slave2moonlight 1 year ago
@Johnlindsey289 Transformers, horrible as it was, had incredible visuals.
badcompanyization 1 year ago
@badcompanyization I agree about the visuals, though I thought there were some ways that they could have been more true to the cartoon. As for the quality of the movies themselves, I liked the first one. I've only seen the second one once, but I don't remember it being all that good. still great visuals though.

If you see me driving around LA wearing my spaceman costume driving your Add car, selling my movies, know I'm keeping busy, until I get the chance to audition for you and others. it's something new and yes, I agree... but I think we're gonna see more from Jim... I mean, he's right btw... if our future would need some minerals like Unobtanium for Earth, the humans would tear the entire Universe just to get it... I think the core concept of the movie was "rebuilt" when he helped the oil spill incident.

robintubeable 1 year ago
Last, but not least this movie ripped off: Halo, Matrix, Surrogates, Reign of Fire, Dances with Wolves, Terminator Salvation, Atlantis, King Kong, Jurassic Park and they robbed the graphics design from Avatar: the Last Air Bender. It's stereotypical: So Aliens have to act like Indians? So Marines are stupid? So all Tribal life is perfect and serene? So all industry is wicked evil?
This movie wasn't great people. James knows it and he's milking this thing dry. Open your eyes.

Isn't that something like beastiality?
icefiredarksector748 1 year ago
This is an Al Gore wannabe, making billions off of people's stupidity. A politically correct piece of trash, dedicated to making marines (people who die for us) like murders, while they poorly attempt to make us sympathize for blue cat people. Tribal people always kill gently, like when the Aztec would rip the hearts of out innocent women and children for their "gods". How could the man who made Aliens be such a jerk. It's a sad, tired story with the same conclusion: People bad, alien, good.
