Also, for those of you who don't, the judges of Bisping/Hamill are Karate/kickboxing instructors with no wrestling background. Since they don't know much about wrestling, they didn't give Hamill credit for his takedowns and utter domination in the wrestling department
The judges are boxing judges right? I think they didn't give Hamill much credit because he mostly just threw one jab at a time instead of combos, while Bisping was throwing combos.
I was at UFC 67 & met Michael Bisping, Forrest Griffin, & Frank Muir. Bisping was WASTED beyond all recognition. That guy can drink, Forrest Griffin & Frank Muir were as SOBER as you can be. Wesley Snipes was chillin at the bar as well. :)
I like Bisping, but he lost that fight. He better drop down in weight class because there are alot of new fighters entering the UFC from PRIDE & he will not be able to handle the Light Heavyweight Division anymore.

I was at the o² arena last saturday and saw all of the UFC 75, was good all in all but firstly was kinda suprised about all the testostorone flying about in the crowd, I saw more fights outside waiting for drinks and popcorn and even in the arena!

As an English fan of MMA and UFC I was pretty disgusted with the decision made in the Bisping fight. I mean jesus, it might have been the home crowd kind of deal but to lose the decision would have at least left the UFC with a bit more respect.

Furthermore, people who say Hamill should have won really have no concrete reasons aside from saying he rocked Bisping in round 1, which he did, hence the two 29-28 scores. Give Bisping and the judges a break, it could have gone either way. Shit.
This is coming from someone who also thought Hamill won that fight the first time he saw it, but watching it again, it's easy to see why Bisping took the decision. He pushed the pace of that fight in rounds 2 and 3 (I don't give a fuck if he was doing less damage; Corey Hill did shit to Rob Emerson in round 3 of their fight and Corey still took the round because of staying active). Hamill did NOTHING with his takedowns.
Unfair to say that about Bisping, it's hard to score yourself fighting, Dan put yourself in a position where you've been fighting, it's not often you say to yourself "Hmm I think I lost that fight" Besides, if you score the 3rd round to Bisping then you could be construed as biaset too. I agree Hamill definately won that fight. Ceicel People is the biggest cementhead judge out there. He scored in favor of Bisping. The guy is fuckin blind. Rampage and Hendo was great. I was going for Hendo but I wasnt shocked that rampage won. I also wasnt surprised that Kongo beat Cro Cop. Everybody said I was crazy saying Kongo was going to win. Sux that Cro Cop took those crotch shots but I dont think Kongo meant to. Aside from the Hamill Bisping fight it was a good night. Pce Mayne

Never leave it in the hands of the judges ... especially if one as notoriously incompetant as Cecil Peoples is scoring your fight. I have to wonder though, if Hamill won by split decision, would people still be upset because it wasn't a UD? Michael "The Cunt" Bisping should have shown respect to Hamill the same way Rampage did to Ninja when he got a squiffy split decision.
I lost a lot of respect for Bisping too because he acted like he dominated the fight when he really lost in every scoring aspect of the fight. I really have no idea what they were scoring for Bisping. Maybe it was that impressive backpeddle that he did the entire fight. Hamill showed a ton of class and was very gracious in a very shady decision loss, he gets my respect.

Im English and ive never rated Bisping. He will never be a contender. I think his stand up is poor and thats supposed to be his strong point. Guys like Chuck or Wanderlei would crush him. If Hamill had decent ground and pound he would have won in the 1st round. B Level fighters like Forrest Griffin or Stephan Bonnar would beat him easily also. He should drop to 185, but he would struggle there also against the top guys in that division.

the reason why i think hamil won is that he put the pressure on bisping he was chasing bisping all round the octagon and he nearly knocked bisping out 2 times i think.. think the cro cop fight was dissapointing hope cro cop can return strong but dosent look like that
So pleased that noone has started the UK Vs US slagging match haha. Good to see that. I am a Brit and I thought Hamill had improved lots since TUF3 and Bisping looked bad in that fight. I thought Hamill won. If I were Bisping I would have said it was a close fight at the end rather than being 'Tito' cocky.
When I watched Bisping-Hammill again it seemed closer than the first time, but yeah... Bad decisions happen. Things will improve if they either change the scoring system so it fits MMA better or it'll just get better when the sport grows older and former fighters get into the athletic commissions. I don't think it'll ever be perfect though, which is why you should never leave it in the judges hands.
I know people r gonna flame me for this, but I've watched the Cro Cop/Kongo fight five times and i've watched a lot of slow mo shots. Kongo's knees to the nuts were intentional. Cro Cop was leaving his body open after the first ball shot and Kongo went straight for the balls again. Plus Cro Cop broke a rib in the first round which is a devastating injury in a sport like this.

Another reason I think added to the loss of Cro-Cop was pressure. Pressure not to lose, because in Pride it didn't matter if you won or lost, just that you put on a hell of a fight. And in UFC if you lose you drop way down, and twice you get the David Loiseau treatment.
I can't remember how many fights are on Cro-Cop's contract, but I don't think there's a way his getting a title shot while on it.
Rewatch the Fight. The decision is not as clear cut as everyone thinks. Bisping could of easily been awarded rounds 2 & 3. I admit, when watching the broadcast, I was as pissed off as everybody, I thought Hamill won the fight. Rewatch the fight, your opinion will change.
I rewatched, and I just couldn't disagree more, I barely gave the last round to Michael dude. I can honestly see how 1 judge gave it 30-27 to Matt (now read that carefully, according to THAT judge Matt didn't lost 1 round, yet the other two went "hmm yeah I think Michael won 2 rounds" ... what a crock!).

Rampage and Hendo. Great fight, not enough mainstream media attention. I had Rampage winning it 4 rounds to 1. Close rounds, though. Just thought Rampage did more in each round with the exception of round 1.
I've rewatched the Bisping fight and it was closer than I thought but Hammil still edged it. Fair play to Bisping for actually coming out and apologising though for his comments aftwards. Takes a big man etc...

3)but in the second round the only thing hamill was is an albow and to takedowns, he is not duing anything with them he dont even hit him once while bisping is going subs the hole time and on the feet bisping is landing jabs over and over again, its a close round but seeing it again i whould give that round to bisping 3 round is the same as the second bisping just hit him a bit more in the stand up.

I heard Mirko got his rib injured in the first round. Another freak accident like BJ Penn. Too bad they didn't show Fedor if he was there =(. Marcus Davis fight was awesome. Great first round come back. Probably had to be one of the best (5 minute) first rounds ever! And I'm happy Rampage won. I hope Hendo dominates at 185 now. I thought Hamill won the fight, but to paraphrase Georges St.Pierre, "I am not impressed with your performance" Matt Hamill. Matt was bigger and stronger but showed little skill. He couldn't keep Mike down and his punches were mostly wild. Still, I thought he'd inflicted more damage and Mike had been too defensive to get the decision. This is too much like Tito vs Forrest where it was a split decision and one judge scored 30-27 Ortiz. Bad decision, bad for the sport and bad for the UFC.
The Tito/Forrest fight was a great fight and a close one. Tito whipped him in RD 1 and then lost RD 2 and i thought the 3rd RD was even. This fight was Matt winning easy for most of the fight. He killed Mike in RD 1, and won RDs 2 and 3 by closer margins but he won them. This was the worst call i have ever seen.
striking, grappling, agression and octagon controle! these are what you judge a fight on. bisping won none in round 1 and maybe won the striking in round 2 or 3 but he lost by alot on all the rest. where as in the tito fight he didnt have enough octagon controle and agression to outscore forrest in round 3 however he had a 10-8 round in round 1 i think so a draw would have been nice to see

i understand the 2 judges decisions for the last two rounds. matts take down were ineffective, his striking sloppy. bisbing may not have been the agressor but his strikes were more accurate and his defence very solid.
it was a god damned close fight to call.
one thing ill say is when a fighter leaves it to the judges there can be no complaining, matt could have finished the fight if he as truly better than mike, fact is they were very evenand someone had to lose
Goin in to this match i had seen the ultimate fighter 3 and heard how great of a wrestler hamill was but thats pritty much it. His striking has dramaticly improved but he has no ground game he could get bisping down but that was it there was no danger there. At no point did he look any where near to finishing bisping and if it went 1 more round his cardio would have given out completly.
Now I know I'm not going to be popular, but I thought it was a bit closer than what people are saying. I completely agree that Hammill beat down Bisping in the first round and he should get his points from that. But that should have no impact on the next two rounds. I thought Bisping won the third round dealing with everything that Hammill had then. The second, for me, is the question mark... I thought it was pretty even. Just my opinion.

In the first round bisping showed great character he gotten taken down but managed to controll hamills strenght. He showed great skill in defence and was sizing up hamill through out the fight with an extremely short jab. Bispings skill showed through out the fight. There is no doubt about it bisping won the fight. the only thing wrong with the fight was that one judge scored it to hamill. Hamill was not even in the contest.
That's ridiculous !! in the first round bisping underestimated hamill's stand up and hamill caught bisping with a couple of shots. But in the second round hamill tired and bisping started to box him And finally in the 3rd round hamill was knackered and showed that he is the most "One dimensional" fighter ever all he could do was take bisping down, he has no jiu jitsu.
If there was one more round Bisping would have won that fight by TKO and in the rematch bisping would win again, the only reason why hamill won round one was because bisping didn't expect hamills stand up to be as good as it was.

The judges weren't dicks after winning a very close (and in my opinion, bogus) decision. Bisping was a huge dick. He got owned by Hamil, and had the nerve to tell him to go back to wrestling.

I had my english rose tinted goggles on during TUF3 and alot of Bispings fights after. But in no way did Bisping win that, it was a horrible decision and feel realy bad for Hamill.
Bisping looked terrible, completely forgot his gameplan when it was obvious Hamill wanted to bang with him. Dont think you can realy blame him for comments afterwards thought, think he was just caught in the moment.
in the ultimate fighter 1 show, forrest griffin commented on how a fight on the show was won by decision cuz the winner kept coming forward, but was taking more damage than he was generating. then he said he'll win all his fights cuz all he has to do is keep coming forward.
the judges have really tough fights to score. visually, as normal fight fans, we probably saw the fight go to hamill cuz he kept coming forward, but if you really watch the fight and actually take score, i really think bisping won by the narrowest of margins. hamill did take bisping to the ground, but inflicted no damage there and bisping got right back up, right away, everytime. dana white said that the rematch would be a no-brainer.

We were insulted. There's still the odd biased Bisping fan but I ain't one, after the TV show I've never liked him I don't buy that whole 'I'm a nice guy, family guy +fighter' thing that he does. He's basically a marketing oppportunity for UFC in the U.K. When they gave the decision to him, to my suprise half the fans were booing him I'm sure it was loud enough, believe me I was there. I agree with your scoring. I also had it 29-28. Hammill clearly won the 1st round. The other two rounds were very close and I could have seen them going either way. I personally thought Bisping won the 2nd round and Hammill won the 3rd though.
I agree- watch the fight again- it's much closer than some of the hysterical reactions on here. There's about a point in it but the hometown thing tipped it toward Bisping. Sucks, but it's not the first time. Can't wait for the re-match.

I am so upset about this whole Cro Cop in the UFC situation. Bisping won the fight, he stuffed most of the takedowns, dodged most punches, did more damage, and escaped every time he was put on his back. Hamill only did damage when he did that headlock. He couldn't keep Bisping down of the ground and ended up getting picked apart in Round 2n3. I do think Hamill won round 1, but not 2 and especially not 3. I was NOT impressed with Bisping's striking though.
I totally agree with you on Matt Hamil and Nick Diaz. If bisbing won that fight then they should have given Forrest the fight with Tito. Tito only got 2 takedowns in that fight and scored points for it. Matt Hamil had 3 in each round. It almost makes me not want to watch the ufc again. Keep it Phat.

The judges are boxing judges right? I think they didn't give Hamill much credit because he mostly just threw one jab at a time instead of combos, while Bisping was throwing combos.

I was at UFC 67 & met Michael Bisping, Forrest Griffin, & Frank Muir. Bisping was WASTED beyond all recognition. That guy can drink, Forrest Griffin & Frank Muir were as SOBER as you can be. Wesley Snipes was chillin at the bar as well. :)

As an English fan of MMA and UFC I was pretty disgusted with the decision made in the Bisping fight. I mean jesus, it might have been the home crowd kind of deal but to lose the decision would have at least left the UFC with a bit more respect.

This is coming from someone who also thought Hamill won that fight the first time he saw it, but watching it again, it's easy to see why Bisping took the decision. He pushed the pace of that fight in rounds 2 and 3 (I don't give a fuck if he was doing less damage; Corey Hill did shit to Rob Emerson in round 3 of their fight and Corey still took the round because of staying active). Hamill did NOTHING with his takedowns.

Unfair to say that about Bisping, it's hard to score yourself fighting, Dan put yourself in a position where you've been fighting, it's not often you say to yourself "Hmm I think I lost that fight" Besides, if you score the 3rd round to Bisping then you could be construed as biaset too. Hamill won the 1st, Bisping won the 3rd, the 2nd round is debatable. Slight noobitis on your part Dan but still great show, I love your passion.

I agree Hamill definately won that fight. Ceicel People is the biggest cementhead judge out there. He scored in favor of Bisping. The guy is fuckin blind. Rampage and Hendo was great. I was going for Hendo but I wasnt shocked that rampage won. I also wasnt surprised that Kongo beat Cro Cop. Everybody said I was crazy saying Kongo was going to win. Sux that Cro Cop took those crotch shots but I dont think Kongo meant to. Aside from the Hamill Bisping fight it was a good night. Pce Mayne

I lost a lot of respect for Bisping too because he acted like he dominated the fight when he really lost in every scoring aspect of the fight. I really have no idea what they were scoring for Bisping. Maybe it was that impressive backpeddle that he did the entire fight. Hamill showed a ton of class and was very gracious in a very shady decision loss, he gets my respect.

Im English and ive never rated Bisping. He will never be a contender. I think his stand up is poor and thats supposed to be his strong point. Guys like Chuck or Wanderlei would crush him. If Hamill had decent ground and pound he would have won in the 1st round. B Level fighters like Forrest Griffin or Stephan Bonnar would beat him easily also. He should drop to 185, but he would struggle there also against the top guys in that division.

I thought Hamill won. If I were Bisping I would have said it was a close fight at the end rather than being 'Tito' cocky.

When I watched Bisping-Hammill again it seemed closer than the first time, but yeah... Bad decisions happen. Things will improve if they either change the scoring system so it fits MMA better or it'll just get better when the sport grows older and former fighters get into the athletic commissions. I don't think it'll ever be perfect though, which is why you should never leave it in the judges hands.

I know people r gonna flame me for this, but I've watched the Cro Cop/Kongo fight five times and i've watched a lot of slow mo shots. Kongo's knees to the nuts were intentional. Cro Cop was leaving his body open after the first ball shot and Kongo went straight for the balls again. Plus Cro Cop broke a rib in the first round which is a devastating injury in a sport like this.

Another reason I think added to the loss of Cro-Cop was pressure. Pressure not to lose, because in Pride it didn't matter if you won or lost, just that you put on a hell of a fight. And in UFC if you lose you drop way down, and twice you get the David Loiseau treatment.
I can't remember how many fights are on Cro-Cop's contract, but I don't think there's a way his getting a title shot while on it.

Rewatch the Fight. The decision is not as clear cut as everyone thinks. Bisping could of easily been awarded rounds 2 & 3. I admit, when watching the broadcast, I was as pissed off as everybody, I thought Hamill won the fight. Rewatch the fight, your opinion will change.

I rewatched, and I just couldn't disagree more, I barely gave the last round to Michael dude. I can honestly see how 1 judge gave it 30-27 to Matt (now read that carefully, according to THAT judge Matt didn't lost 1 round, yet the other two went "hmm yeah I think Michael won 2 rounds" ... what a crock!).
I keep scoring it 29-28 to Matt, Bissey has lost all my respect.

3)but in the second round the only thing hamill was is an albow and to takedowns, he is not duing anything with them he dont even hit him once while bisping is going subs the hole time and on the feet bisping is landing jabs over and over again, its a close round but seeing it again i whould give that round to bisping 3 round is the same as the second bisping just hit him a bit more in the stand up.

I thought Hamill won the fight, but to paraphrase Georges St.Pierre, "I am not impressed with your performance" Matt Hamill. Matt was bigger and stronger but showed little skill. He couldn't keep Mike down and his punches were mostly wild. Still, I thought he'd inflicted more damage and Mike had been too defensive to get the decision. This is too much like Tito vs Forrest where it was a split decision and one judge scored 30-27 Ortiz. Bad decision, bad for the sport and bad for the UFC.

The Tito/Forrest fight was a great fight and a close one. Tito whipped him in RD 1 and then lost RD 2 and i thought the 3rd RD was even. This fight was Matt winning easy for most of the fight. He killed Mike in RD 1, and won RDs 2 and 3 by closer margins but he won them. This was the worst call i have ever seen.

striking, grappling, agression and octagon controle! these are what you judge a fight on. bisping won none in round 1 and maybe won the striking in round 2 or 3 but he lost by alot on all the rest. where as in the tito fight he didnt have enough octagon controle and agression to outscore forrest in round 3 however he had a 10-8 round in round 1 i think so a draw would have been nice to see

Round 1 and 3 are not the issue - Round 2 however....I have broken down the video as many fans have. To anyone who posts backing the Call. I ask you this. Where did the points for Bisping come from? Jabs is not an answer BTW. Even if you were generous with them and I was. Effective striking/grappling, octagon control, agression and defense. Bisping was either retreating, one his back, or in a headlock getting punched. The fact that Hamill LET him up does not count as points for "The Count".

i understand the 2 judges decisions for the last two rounds. matts take down were ineffective, his striking sloppy. bisbing may not have been the agressor but his strikes were more accurate and his defence very solid.
it was a god damned close fight to call.
one thing ill say is when a fighter leaves it to the judges there can be no complaining, matt could have finished the fight if he as truly better than mike, fact is they were very evenand someone had to lose

Goin in to this match i had seen the ultimate fighter 3 and heard how great of a wrestler hamill was but thats pritty much it. His striking has dramaticly improved but he has no ground game he could get bisping down but that was it there was no danger there. At no point did he look any where near to finishing bisping and if it went 1 more round his cardio would have given out completly.

Now I know I'm not going to be popular, but I thought it was a bit closer than what people are saying. I completely agree that Hammill beat down Bisping in the first round and he should get his points from that. But that should have no impact on the next two rounds. I thought Bisping won the third round dealing with everything that Hammill had then. The second, for me, is the question mark... I thought it was pretty even. Just my opinion.

In the first round bisping showed great character he gotten taken down but managed to controll hamills strenght. He showed great skill in defence and was sizing up hamill through out the fight with an extremely short jab. Bispings skill showed through out the fight. There is no doubt about it bisping won the fight. the only thing wrong with the fight was that one judge scored it to hamill. Hamill was not even in the contest.

That's ridiculous !! in the first round bisping underestimated hamill's stand up and hamill caught bisping with a couple of shots. But in the second round hamill tired and bisping started to box him And finally in the 3rd round hamill was knackered and showed that he is the most "One dimensional" fighter ever all he could do was take bisping down, he has no jiu jitsu.

If there was one more round Bisping would have won that fight by TKO and in the rematch bisping would win again, the only reason why hamill won round one was because bisping didn't expect hamills stand up to be as good as it was.

The judges weren't dicks after winning a very close (and in my opinion, bogus) decision. Bisping was a huge dick. He got owned by Hamil, and had the nerve to tell him to go back to wrestling.

U TOUGHT HAMMIL WON 30-27? the judge that gave him that was english . the americans gave it to bisping . i thought the fight could have gone either way it was close, people are talking about it like it was the biggest robbery in history i have seen much worse. I had my english rose tinted goggles on during TUF3 and alot of Bispings fights after. But in no way did Bisping win that, it was a horrible decision and feel realy bad for Hamill.
Bisping looked terrible, completely forgot his gameplan when it was obvious Hamill wanted to bang with him. Dont think you can realy blame him for comments afterwards thought, think he was just caught in the moment.

in the ultimate fighter 1 show, forrest griffin commented on how a fight on the show was won by decision cuz the winner kept coming forward, but was taking more damage than he was generating. then he said he'll win all his fights cuz all he has to do is keep coming forward.

the judges have really tough fights to score. visually, as normal fight fans, we probably saw the fight go to hamill cuz he kept coming forward, but if you really watch the fight and actually take score, i really think bisping won by the narrowest of margins. hamill did take bisping to the ground, but inflicted no damage there and bisping got right back up, right away, everytime. dana white said that the rematch would be a no-brainer.

The worst was really the shitty way he acted after the fight when he said something like "Well now everyone knows who the real ultimate fighter is!!" FUCK YOU BISPING!!! I would really love to see what kind of excuses Dana White has for THAT decision.

We were insulted. There's still the odd biased Bisping fan but I ain't one, after the TV show I've never liked him I don't buy that whole 'I'm a nice guy, family guy +fighter' thing that he does. He's basically a marketing oppportunity for UFC in the U.K. When they gave the decision to him, to my suprise half the fans were booing him I'm sure it was loud enough, believe me I was there. In a way this is a good thing cause now everyone will see what an ass he is.

I agree with your scoring. I also had it 29-28. Hammill clearly won the 1st round. The other two rounds were very close and I could have seen them going either way. I personally thought Bisping won the 2nd round and Hammill won the 3rd though.

I am so upset about this whole Cro Cop in the UFC situation. Bisping won the fight, he stuffed most of the takedowns, dodged most punches, did more damage, and escaped every time he was put on his back. Hamill only did damage when he did that headlock. He couldn't keep Bisping down of the ground and ended up getting picked apart in Round 2n3. I do think Hamill won round 1, but not 2 and especially not 3. I was NOT impressed with Bisping's striking though.

I totally agree with you on Matt Hamil and Nick Diaz. If bisbing won that fight then they should have given Forrest the fight with Tito. Tito only got 2 takedowns in that fight and scored points for it. Matt Hamil had 3 in each round. It almost makes me not want to watch the ufc again. Keep it Phat.
