I’m getting mine done with an Allograft on 2_8_11. They told me only three small holes are needed to replace the ACL and shave down the torn meniscus.
Wow did your doctor EVER hack up you leg! I had this same surgery done 5 years ago. I had an ACL reconstruction with meniscus repair (using a cadaver ligament) and I only had 2 VERY small incisions and 1 larger one, and 13 staples. You can't even see the scars now! 2 weeks on crutches, 3 months of therapy (3 times a week @ 1 hour) and 6 months of no ladder climbing. And I WAITED a year to have mine fixed! Hope you can still walk, because that looks like a first class HACK JOB!
@redmage928 read the description they're staples, and yes acl reconstruction can be painfull, mine was pretty sore for the whole week but the worst part is 4-6 months of physical therapy, this doctor really butchered this kid, i had much smaller incisions and stitches, you can only see one scar now
who did that??? wow!!!! are they still alive? coz im gonna kill them for fucking up ur knee... hahahaah lemmi guess u got a discount from ur golf buddy hahhaaha
geez, I had my surgery 4 days ago and my knee is all wrapped and bandaged up. I won't even see it for two weeks. It looks like you had tendons from your patella taken, while I had tendons from my hamstrings taken. looks fuckin sick though haha.
I just had mine yesterday a little bit of pain not a whole lot it itches cant scratch it but didnt just tear my ACL they also had to repair my minescus but recovery time doubled
is that seriously the size of the knee brace you have to wear? im having the surgery done on my right knee in a couple of weeks. Im 16 and slightly worried as the woman who is going 2 perform the operation, said that it is the worst knee she had seen on someone as young as me for a long time. wasnt fully boosted by that to be honest!
yuck mine was no where as nasty as that...i didn't even get staples. Kind of glad. 4 weeks post op and my scare is about 3 1/2 inches and looks like a tiny purple line now and you can hardly see where they put the scope
i will have the same surgery in a few weeks, but i saw many people with broken ACL surgery, and didn't look that bad,i mean, there was only one cut,and the skin wasn't held together by that kind of bolts.I'm sorry for you
I am not a specialist. I completely broke my ACL and meniscus. I had my arthroscopy 3 weeks before. I am looking forward for ACL reconstruction but to be honest. Those stiches look like shit. My grandmother would sew you better. Thruly sympathy for you. Change the doctor, this one is lying you.
he must have had a different type of surgery. I don't think this was orthescopic and if it was it might not have been a hamstring graft like most people. I had my surgery 6 days ago and its no where near as bad just on little incision and three holes
Had the same thing done 4 months ago. Was expecting a couple of 1 inch scars but ended up with something similar - 5 inch scar and 14 staples! Really worried about the number of people who seem to snap the graft again - taking it very easy!! Good look to all who are going through this - takes a long time to recover.
I just had a meniscus transplant about six weeks ago. Can't put any weight on it yet, but man I feel for you; knee problems suck!! Btw, this is my fourth knee operation in 5 years--be safe:)
I ruptured my acl, I then had surgery, 14 months after the surgery the graft snapped and had more surgery... ive now 2 weeks ago had it done again... make sure after having it you dont push things to early, I did and now ive had this 3 times!!
@1DirtbikeBoy lol didn't even know you could!.... well this time round (3rd) im feeling alot stronger than the first 2 ops... infact im miles ahead this time... already jogging a little and hopping.... not bad after 8 weeks.
@blackbloodvomitorium wow, im just happy that im able to move my knee, i never knew that ur quads could like die if u didnt move them for 7 days. i started my quad movements yesterday, it was soooo hard lol, but they do regain strength fast cuz today i can move them almost perfectly
@1DirtbikeBoy yeah... its like your brain forgets how to utilize them. Trick is to tense them and then un tense them five times on the good leg, then straight away do it on the bad leg.... for some reason it tricks the brain and you can tense them easily after a few tries and then move better.
THANK GOD for arthroscopy...i had mine a week ago..idk how it feels to have staples but looks horrible..i have like 3 little holes and a cut(no stitches needed) sucks for you:(
I'm 13 and I had bones grafts in both feet and calf extentions in both legs. When the first set of casts where removed one foot was green because blood had oozed out of the wound and roted. How do these people recover so quickly i was couch bound for 8 weeks with casts.
most knee operations are arthroscopic nowadays unless the injury has affected many places of the knee and it's very serious. but to get all cut up like that with just an ACL tear seems weird to me.
My first ACL surgery used a patella tendon graft, and my scar is straight as an arrow. Judging by this guy's incision, i'd say his doctor was taking hits of laughing gas before he started cutting into the leg.
lol i was thinking that!! i have one on my right leg (where I ruptured my acl) and 3 holes all very neat, I now having had the op 3 times (same leg) have another straight scar on my left leg due to them having to take from that leg as everything in the right leg had failed twice and was no longer usable.
My wounds looked similarie. This guy obviously had more donw than just acl. I had both my meniscous pads shreded and my wounds looked just liek this. It also depends on how people react to the stiching.
dude i had an acl reconstruction from my hamstring graft and a menisectomy and my wounds looked nothing like that. A week after surgery my stitches were removed and you could barely see the wounds.
umm does the surgury hurt cuz i gotta get surgury in about 3 days for my acl and im kinda nurvous =[ can plz reply and tell me if it does i only 14 but i like really nurvous
hey, I had an ACL reconstruction and meniscus removal/repair just over 2 years ago.. After surgery is painful ofcourse, but you will be very well looked after, i couldnt have asked for a better service. You will be able to get some good medication for the aftermath pain :) Good luck! x
yea I tore my ACL and had the surgery on friday 9-18-09 took my bandages of today and it didn't look nothing like that thank god that looks painful! Damn my man y such the long scar I got three little incisions what the fuck man I feel 4 u!
That looks terrible compared to mine. I had a full acl replacement and i never had to use a brace. I am three weeks out of surgery walking fine and everything. I still cant do any type of running or pivoting of the knee. But no brace or anything. and i put weight on my knee the day after surgery.
omg im so happy i tore my MCL and meniscus and not my ACL lol, yah it hurts like a bitch but nothing compared to ACL, btw looks like the doctor used a kitchen knife the incisions should be alot smaller
yeah this looks really butchered up...I have small incisions..the largest one was wher they put the titanium screw...this doesn't look arthroscopic at all.
exaclty what i had... scoped hamstring graft... and stiches... that looks like its gonna leave some awful scars... i hope your graft holds together well... luckily i went to the best ortho doc in the state (nebraska) hes pioneered a couple minimally invasive surguries and did an exellent job on my knee
if you claim your surgeon is the best in your state the rest of the population must be on crutches how successful was your operation back playing sports without any bother? it looks as though he was opened up why the need for all the incisions? ive had this twice cartliage twice ive one scar on my left knee and one on my right and you cannot see them both my acls were done with my a hamstring graft with a total of 12 clips in each knee and you tell me its a brilliant job lmao you got butchered!!
i was replying to one of the lower commments... not this guys surgery... yea he got butchered... i had a 2 inch incision where the screw is and 3 pin sized incisions from the scope... it was a great job and he is the best in the state... this kid in the video got absolutley butchered... i really feel for this guy
FUCK!! I've been watching videos like this the last couple days. I tore the ACL and medial meniscus in mine. Getting surgery next month. I should really stop watching this shit.
that sucks for you, i just my surgery 2 weeks ago and i tore my acl in half, tore my lcl in half and tore my posterior meniscus so bad it wasnt fixable and the biggest incision i had was an inch long. good luck
i had mine 2 weeks ago - spolint is off and the staples are out - can limp about and put good weight on it... i got staples was shocked as i was expecting stitches. cant wait for the pain to go away and can get on with my sports!
I had my surgery a fortnight ago and I don't even have a plaster on the holes any more. Never got a brace b/c my doc wants full movement within the next month. And since the stitches came out yesterday, I'm left with nothing but an anti-thrombosis stocking.
acl surgery doesnt really hurt afterwards, wat hurts is the fuckin staples. i had 19 staples n everytime i tried to stand up the brace would drag on the staples, fuckin hurt more than the damn aftermath of the surgery
no problem. i guess youve had the surgery by now. i also tore my Medial Meniscus.. so i couldnt walk for 4 weeks.. but if you have anymore questions just hit me up =)
Dude your scars is gonna be just terrible, my god what kinda doc did that weak staple job, was he paid by the hour lol, just terrible. They should have used surgical medical tape, they did on mine and it bairly shows a scar, just a thin line.
dude they fucked you up man. I have 3 holes and a small scar. I torn my ACL during my 12th grade in 2002 football season and went on to play some more ball in college.
Ive had three acl reconstructions on the same knee this year one was my hamstring graft and the others were cadavers. Got some nasty scars too but if all you got is 3 tiny incisions around you kneecap then they didnt do the acl. Cant get drills and shit through those tiny holes. watch a acl surgey and see for yourself
Were all three of your on the same knee? I am 4 weeks post-op and I hope I never have to have this done again. come talk about yours at ACLCENTRALdotCOM.
obviously you didn't have a full acl graft replacement. I'm awaiting one myself, and they have to take the graft from the patella tendan like this guy I assume.
Who the hell was your dr? I had ACL replacement (cadaver) combined with cartiledge repair. I have 4 small scars around the perimeter of my knee cap, one screw and a knee that feels 10 years younger then the left knee. The pt was nothing more then what I did at the gym. I was back at work as a ramp agent for an overnight shipping company in 12 weeks. It has been 2 yrs now and I/m considering having the left knee done so that I can exercise like a 20 something again. I had the surgery at 40.
no sympathy here, maybe a little empathy. i just had my second acl surgery 2 weeks ago on the same damn knee. already worried i might have messed it up again... hope you don't have to go through it again, it's a real bitch.
I'll give you my sympathy if you give me yours. lol...I tore both my acl's and maniscus, I had surgery on both too. I Recently had surgery on the left knee two months ago. I'm only seventeen and had this happen to me in a 2 year time frame. Hope your doing good though.
I am a mixed martial arts fighter, UFC stuff for those who watch TV. I tore my ACL and ripped my meniscus in a fight about four weeks ago. It was recommended to me to get a hamstring graft. I'm not worried about pain but I am worried about recovery time and when I could get back to training if at all. Does anyone have any insight/advice for me?
ive torn both of my ACLs and damaged the minisci each time. if you have surgery on both the ACL and miniscus expect to be on crutches for around 6 weeks. then about 3-4 months of rehab before you can go back to fighting. but less time before you can run and bike and all that fun stuff. and believe me the rehab is harder than it sounds. but i would suggest to listen to your doctor and dont proceed before he gives you the green light
with hamstring graft it takes 6 months for full activity, but with miniscus tear i have no clue im guessing it would take longer? Because at 3 months you start actually running in a straight line. soooo.......
meniscus takes long to recover because of the bad blood flow. My ACL was torn once and they fixed it (not as bad as this guy's) but I was 15 at the time and thought ooh I dont need to train that often so now my hamstrings get cramps all the time because the lack of strength.. I advise everyone to just listen and do it :D
i tore my ACL in dec. 07 and didn't get my surgery until 2 weeks ago, i got my knee back to almost perfect condition in the time before the surgery, got my ham strings strong, caf's, thigh's all that and it's made a world of difference in my recovery now. good luck with the surgery, and i wouldn't get the hanstring graft, Way more recovery time, scavenge those parts from someone who don't need it anymore.
Im right there man. torn acl and broken miniscus i am prob going to start recovery in about 2 weeks. i had surgery a week and 2 days ago and im able to walk a little bit. and the pain... it's a dull pain thats annoying. hope that helps a little
the only advise is to do your rehabilitation as swell as possible because if you don't you will regret it, like I do now. muscles are too weak.. and my complaints have returned. if you train your muscles they will take the beating instead of your ACL and all around it.
Guys, i just had my surgery 3 weeks ago. I got the hamstring graft done and I have to say it looks nothing like this patella graft. I scared myself shitless looking at youtube vids before the surgery. They say the patella graft is for the surgeon and hamstring is for the patient. Im walking almost normal after 3 weeks and I stopped using crutches afer the 3rd day. Hamstring graft all the way!
Great news on your surgery! I opted for a donor graft< and just like you,i can walk after 7 days with out crutches very slowly though! start therapy on day 10 post op! i can also staightin my leg and bend back alittle, swelling is mostly down as well! let me know how you do!! good luck!
i just had mine done 7 days ago! pain will go away slowley after 6 days you should be walkin slowley without crutches on day seven like me!! i start therapy on day 10! good luck dont be afraid!
did you travel back to 1970 to get it fixed?!? What the hell kind of incisions did you get. Did a samurai cut you? Anyway i used a cadavor graph, i have an one inch incison and 2 small holes. People getting this done dont let this video scare you. It sucks but with modern medicine recovery is so fast. I am 11 weeks out and will normal. I am allowed to start running in three weeks. (I can run, but wont untill it streghtens a little more.
im awaitin my surgery. A tor my acl twice in which 1 of them i didnt no. I only found out 2day wen i actually read my scans properly dat the scans showed a previous tear in acl. I've had dat tear like 4.5 years n played as nothin was wrong. no pain, nothin. then midway 2008 a got knocked n felt som pain 4 dat minute in knee. I got up n started playin that instant after knock not knowin i jus tor my acl further. Lucky me i didnt tear any of my cartilage.
You don't have to worry about your operation. You have had the most pain. The operation will be nothing compared to the injuiry itself. But the revalidation takes time but everyone will make it. You will be glad everytime you make your steps even when they are very small.
I wish you GL again and be carefull. Listen to the Docters and fysio's.
It depends, my scars are very small. My first operation (Februari 28) was ment for fixing my bones (My ACL had took some bones from my upperleg.). But it was also completely tored at the bottom, and they didnt knew that. So I had an second operation in The Netherlands at 1 april 2008, my injuiry was at 8 september 2007. They took my hamstrings to reconstruct it.
I wish everybody GL with the revalidation. I am practicing with my team now. I will play matches at 1 april 2009.
I can tell everyone if you have had a tored ACL.. It was very painfull huh? (To the most for sure, some people have luck like Gatuso, he played the full match wit a tored ACL without any pain) So it's differend to everyone, I screamed like HELLll.. It was too painfull for me, for a humanbeing. But what I want to say to people who will have an operation in the future or in a week.
i tore my acl on both of my legs at different times. it was my worst nightmare! but im playin basketball again! everyone juss hang in there! it gets better!! jus do yourr rehaaab! good luck!
Good luck but I have to say your incision is very large compared to mine. I used my patella and I didn't have staples or stitches on the outside just surgical tape.
I’m getting mine done with an Allograft on 2_8_11. They told me only three small holes are needed to replace the ACL and shave down the torn meniscus.

im at a week and my knee is not too bad. Still cant straighten when standing though only when sitting.
bobbocesu19 2 years ago
That looks terrible compared to mine. I had a full acl replacement and i never had to use a brace. I am three weeks out of surgery walking fine and everything. I still cant do any type of running or pivoting of the knee. But no brace or anything. and i put weight on my knee the day after surgery.
FranzVideos 2 years ago
omg im so happy i tore my MCL and meniscus and not my ACL lol, yah it hurts like a bitch but nothing compared to ACL, btw looks like the doctor used a kitchen knife the incisions should be alot smaller
willcomentforfood 2 years ago
yeah this looks really butchered up...I have small incisions..the largest one was wher they put the titanium screw...this doesn't look arthroscopic at all.

i had my acl surgery two weeks ago and my wounds are almost healed up
mjf425 2 years ago
exaclty what i had... scoped hamstring graft... and stiches... that looks like its gonna leave some awful scars... i hope your graft holds together well... luckily i went to the best ortho doc in the state (nebraska) hes pioneered a couple minimally invasive surguries and did an exellent job on my knee
phil656565 2 years ago
if you claim your surgeon is the best in your state the rest of the population must be on crutches how successful was your operation back playing sports without any bother? it looks as though he was opened up why the need for all the incisions? ive had this twice cartliage twice ive one scar on my left knee and one on my right and you cannot see them both my acls were done with my a hamstring graft with a total of 12 clips in each knee and you tell me its a brilliant job lmao you got butchered!!
PURPLESNOT 2 years ago
i was replying to one of the lower commments... not this guys surgery... yea he got butchered... i had a 2 inch incision where the screw is and 3 pin sized incisions from the scope... it was a great job and he is the best in the state... this kid in the video got absolutley butchered... i really feel for this guy
phil656565 2 years ago
god...how old is the video? the procedure is archaic. they haven't used staples for ACLs for years. also...his incisions are huge! barbaric.
jsavite1 2 years ago
Staples? I had a ACL hamstring graph and meniscus repair 2 weeks ago i had stitches and my incision is much smaller

i had mine 2 weeks ago - spolint is off and the staples are out - can limp about and put good weight on it... i got staples was shocked as i was expecting stitches. cant wait for the pain to go away and can get on with my sports!

glad miy acl surgery did not look like that
deegirlshopping 2 years ago
after surgery does everyone have those staples around their knee ?
or was yours just that bad ?
filahohi 2 years ago
yes everyone has those staples because of how deep that incision is. i had the and acl reconstruction and a scope not even two weeks ago.
tfm18 2 years ago
I had my surgery a fortnight ago and I don't even have a plaster on the holes any more. Never got a brace b/c my doc wants full movement within the next month. And since the stitches came out yesterday, I'm left with nothing but an anti-thrombosis stocking.

acl surgery doesnt really hurt afterwards, wat hurts is the fuckin staples. i had 19 staples n everytime i tried to stand up the brace would drag on the staples, fuckin hurt more than the damn aftermath of the surgery

dmonsta1011 2 years ago
to anyone having this surgery - make sure your orthopaedic surgeon is a knee specialist, that only does knees and nothing else
freddie212 2 years ago
Dude your scars is gonna be just terrible, my god what kinda doc did that weak staple job, was he paid by the hour lol, just terrible. They should have used surgical medical tape, they did on mine and it bairly shows a scar, just a thin line.

dude they fucked you up man. I have 3 holes and a small scar. I torn my ACL during my 12th grade in 2002 football season and went on to play some more ball in college.
3rdCoastBorn187 2 years ago
does this really happen???
nectorX 2 years ago
Ive had three acl reconstructions on the same knee this year one was my hamstring graft and the others were cadavers. Got some nasty scars too but if all you got is 3 tiny incisions around you kneecap then they didnt do the acl. Cant get drills and shit through those tiny holes. watch a acl surgey and see for yourself
chistyle30 2 years ago
Were all three of your on the same knee? I am 4 weeks post-op and I hope I never have to have this done again. come talk about yours at ACLCENTRALdotCOM.

ummm the doc can work on a acl with 3 holes long time a go they actually did use biger cuts but now they can

graham1983clarke 2 years ago
Damm wHO FUCKED your leg up?? lol
mARiETTAiNDIANS 2 years ago
obviously you didn't have a full acl graft replacement. I'm awaiting one myself, and they have to take the graft from the patella tendan like this guy I assume.
frankum07 2 years ago
Who the hell was your dr? I had ACL replacement (cadaver) combined with cartiledge repair. I have 4 small scars around the perimeter of my knee cap, one screw and a knee that feels 10 years younger then the left knee. The pt was nothing more then what I did at the gym. I was back at work as a ramp agent for an overnight shipping company in 12 weeks. It has been 2 yrs now and I/m considering having the left knee done so that I can exercise like a 20 something again. I had the surgery at 40.

bad surgery! was it a butcher who did it?
griseum 2 years ago

Does anyone have any insight/advice for me?
fightermmarchant 2 years ago
ive torn both of my ACLs and damaged the minisci each time. if you have surgery on both the ACL and miniscus expect to be on crutches for around 6 weeks. then about 3-4 months of rehab before you can go back to fighting. but less time before you can run and bike and all that fun stuff. and believe me the rehab is harder than it sounds. but i would suggest to listen to your doctor and dont proceed before he gives you the green light

with hamstring graft it takes 6 months for full activity, but with miniscus tear i have no clue im guessing it would take longer? Because at 3 months you start actually running in a straight line. soooo.......
socksux 2 years ago
meniscus takes long to recover because of the bad blood flow. My ACL was torn once and they fixed it (not as bad as this guy's) but I was 15 at the time and thought ooh I dont need to train that often so now my hamstrings get cramps all the time because the lack of strength.. I advise everyone to just listen and do it :D
iwtkc 2 years ago
i tore my ACL in dec. 07 and didn't get my surgery until 2 weeks ago, i got my knee back to almost perfect condition in the time before the surgery, got my ham strings strong, caf's, thigh's all that and it's made a world of difference in my recovery now. good luck with the surgery, and i wouldn't get the hanstring graft, Way more recovery time, scavenge those parts from someone who don't need it anymore.
trustnodrug 2 years ago
Im right there man. torn acl and broken miniscus i am prob going to start recovery in about 2 weeks. i had surgery a week and 2 days ago and im able to walk a little bit. and the pain... it's a dull pain thats annoying. hope that helps a little
lostcompany08 2 years ago
i'm getting my acl surgery soon, plus minuscus** maybe. any advice?
lostcompany08 2 years ago
That sucks I had my acl repaired again, I had it fixed in october then it became un attached so I just went thru it again. Its a real pain
connerre 2 years ago
the only advise is to do your rehabilitation as swell as possible because if you don't you will regret it, like I do now. muscles are too weak.. and my complaints have returned. if you train your muscles they will take the beating instead of your ACL and all around it.

Hamstring graft all the way!
eyeopener07 2 years ago
eyeopener: I had the hamstring graft too. My incision is maybe a little over an inch long. It looks like someone butchered this person. :O

did you travel back to 1970 to get it fixed?!? What the hell kind of incisions did you get. Did a samurai cut you? Anyway i used a cadavor graph, i have an one inch incison and 2 small holes. People getting this done dont let this video scare you. It sucks but with modern medicine recovery is so fast. I am 11 weeks out and will normal. I am allowed to start running in three weeks. (I can run, but wont untill it streghtens a little more.
Good luck!

As you see in my name I play Football (Soccer)
I can tell everyone if you have had a tored ACL.. It was very painfull huh? (To the most for sure, some people have luck like Gatuso, he played the full match wit a tored ACL without any pain) So it's differend to everyone, I screamed like HELLll.. It was too painfull for me, for a humanbeing. But what I want to say to people who will have an operation in the future or in a week.
