Thanks for the nice comments. My friend McDonald is a real treasure who grew up in a country/bluegrass household in middle Tennessee. Did you read the "show more" section? I'll send you contact info to order some of his music.

  • i realy like this!

  • A beautiful rendition of a wonderful Jimmie Rodgers song. It brought a tear to my eye, just as it used to when listen to Jimmie sing it.

  • i cant help but wonder why it seems strange when black singers sing country when i was growing up in 50'' all we listened to was black rock and roll

  • I noticed that you're 69. I'm 65. With all due respect, that might be partially because of where you grew and that you were led to believe that blacks don't like, sing, and can't sing country music. This comes from an old pigeon-hole stereotyping system that dictated that specific attributes were specific to specific races. There is a link called "Black Country Music Artists" in this video's "Show More" section that you might interesting.

  • What a sweet song and great voice!

  • It's good to know that there are still Blue Yodellers out there! Thanks for posting!

  • Absolutely Beautiful!!!! Amazing my friend.

  • GOOD GOSH MAN! That was just beyond fantastic! I love Jimmie Rodgers, got turned onto him in my late teens when I decided to listen to my mom's old vinyl copy of "The Jimmie Rodgers Memorial Album." At 19, I was just starting to explore roots music and Jimmie hit me hard. Him and old bluesmen like Rev. Gary Davis just pierce your heart man. Applause applause my man!

  • That was mothers favorite song By Jimmie Rodgers.I'll Tell you What,Thats The Best Darn Version Of That Song That I have Heard To This Day.Dont stop Singing My Friend,Keep Singing,Because When You Do Thats What Keeps A Happy Song In Your Heart !. :-)

  • @RaceAcer60

Thanks. I'll pass that on to Mac. Did you read the "more info" section?

  • Jimmie Rodgers is inspiring and this convinced me that I want to learn his songs and yodel. Like this great musician, yodeling fascinates me in the way it captures the attention of the listener without any lyric. Mr. Craig is great.

  • Yeah, Mac is a real jewel. He also has a couple of CDs available.

  • Outstanding video! Thanks!

  • I went down to visit Mac on 5 July 2009. He's still doing his thing. Not bad for a Korean War Veteran, huh?

  • Wow! He's great! He sounds just like Jimmie Rodgers. I have this song by Jimmie on CD and McDonald sounds just like him.

  • Mac always sings a great Jimmie Rodgers song.

I judged Mac the winner of the Jimmie Rodgers yodelling contest at Avoca in 1985.

  • Mac is as pure country as you can get. I talked to him on the phone a couple of weeks ago. He's still doing well and working the farm.

  • I've known this man all my life. He's a special person and we all love him.

  • Hey, Mac...

You sound as GREAT as EVER!! .. Hope you're doin' ok, these days.. your ole pal, Mark

  • Mac says "Hi" and "Thanks." I talked to him a couple of weeks ago. Mike

  • thx! GREATTT

  • Good Job

  • Thanks. Mac's a real jewel.

  • Absolutely beautiful stuff. Thank you for posting. Classic!

  • Outstanding!

  • There are so many fantastic performers out there, who are so, because of their individual style. I just feel that we tend to [sometimes unintentionally] diminish that uniqueness by comparing them with others. There is only ONE Hank Williams. Why would you ever want two!

  • it's a lovely version, please compare it with lefty frizzell's

  • Thansk, but no need to. Two completely different styles. If you read the "more info" section you'll see that Mac's country music background is just as extensive as anyone's.

  • Wow...This is great...! Thanks for this!

  • I gave this vid 5 stars because it just doesn't come any better than this its as simple as that, thanks very much for sharing..........................judge

  • There's several more of him on this channel.

  • Super singing and song. I am a country music fan from way back and I prefer the old, traditional kind. Jimmy Davis, Jimmie Rodgers, Ted Daffan, Bob Wills, Moon Mullican, Carter Family, You get the picture? ***** for this video and thanks to JT for sending it to me.

  • Thanks. Check out the "more info" section.

  • I checked it out when I was listening to the song.

  • I gave it another 5 stars.

  • He is fantastic! I don`t think i have heard

    much better

  • Mac is pre-Charley Pride. He's a Korean War Veteran who grew up in a country/bluegrass music household and performed throughout Tennessee with his parents and siblings. And a very good friend on mine.
