  • I love this song, one of my all time favorites. Is there anyone else out there who feels that the VIOLIN is the best instrument for this song? All other interpretations seem to pale in comparison.

  • @babewire Violin maybe.... For it can play the song without "chopping" the notes and putting to corrological order.... Piano is still standard for this piece for it can hold any type of notes but sometimes it "chops" down the notes.... But that could be an exception for a good player!

  • I love this song which im playing at my school recital in 30 mins XD

  • this song is such a motivation, it makes me wanna learn to play piano. :D

  • My mom played this for me once when I was about 5 years old. I started crying so she asked me "what's wrong?" and all I could say was "it's so beautiful!" I am, to this day (22 years old), a huge music nerd. Thanks George Winston <3

  • i remember falling asleep to this CD when I was llittle. it's so beautiful.

  • @poncerthedancer me too actually

  • the beginning reminds me of vitamin c's graduation song....weird

  • If u like buetiful music and like a medium fast beat. Try listening to flower dance by dj okawari

  • There should be a LOVE button...

  • It almost always makes me cry and laugh at the same moment to hear this beautiful , moving , brilliant performance..

  • so ive come to the conclusion that I'm weird as hell, I'm 16, love this kind of music, as well as metal and all its sub-genres, a bit of dubstep, i'm a nut for science and history, needless to say, people look at me funny, but idc, i love music like this

  • @ProjectD13X i´d also love this music, and just listened to rock, its weird but really cool :p, but i remeber listened to this music with 4/5 years and its still beautiful and amazing while some other songs a really cool for a while but after a few months i need a "break"..(sry, bad english, i´m from germany =) )

  • To 7435ash: Music has never been re-invented; only re created. If the rock and roll you were raised with doesn't please your ear, just remember that the blues is a product of Gospel/ the rock and roll is a cultural production of classical as well as the blues, etc.

There are only 7major notes....and A million ways to work them and feel them!

It is important to open your mind to all music!...tbear111

  • @TheTbear111 Good on ya!

  • @TheTbear111 What the fuck is rock and roll? what is this the fucking 50s?

  • I will tell you who would hit the dislike button. A miserable person who hates to feel emotion because they never feel joy, happiness, love, peaceful bliss. Someone who hide's behind a fake persona and can't admit who they are because they either don't know or are to insecure. A person who has never been loved and never been able to love.

Either that or they are just simply a loser!

  • @jlanedc Well Said :D

  • Who in the world would press the dislike button!

  • Love it!

  • Wow. What a spunky rendition on a gorgeous piece. :) I love this so much~

  • @gtairr - The first time I heard it was during a very soft rain... I cried too. :)

  • ah perfecto

  • This song just speaks to your soul. Calm your mind of all the troubles you are facing. Remember all those good times when you didnt have to worry about money or anything. Just joy. Let all those hard feelings out. Taste, touch, smell, and see all those heavenly times of your past. Treasure those memories and everything is going to be all right. Never Give Up living.

  • Well Variations on Pachelbel isn't exactry crassical music... in the same way TV dinners aren't exactly well restaurant grade meals...

Kind of high-end elevator music - but hey listening to it is better than getting raped by the head of the IMF right?

  • If you were to FORCE me to make a choice on a favorite piece of music....this would be it

  • I first discovered George Winston when my Dad lent me his 'December' CD at age 11 when I was having trouble sleeping at night. I never gave it back..... and still play it all the time over 15 years later :D

  • PUT A COPYRIGHT THINGIE!!! before they take it down :D

  • Escucharla es un deleite de Dioses...gracias por subirla.

  • This reminds of someone from long ago. Kami you're still in my heart.

  • i was in eighth grade and i asked my mom for this cd for christmas. she thought i was insane, what kind of kid asks for a classical music cd for christfest? george is the man. no explanation is needed.

  • I drive to this music!!!!!!

  • wow, very nice play! (it sounds more refined and balanced than the live performance) reminds me of clayderman's version, which i couldn't find on youtube anymore...

  • @tagexing Of course it sounds more refined and balanced - this is the studio recording from the album. :-P

  • looking at the lights on the northern hills covered in snow, and listening to this beautiful piece beautifully played, i am as close to god as i will ever be.

  • 4 people like Justin Bieber

  • bellissima........dicembre.....purtroppo un brutto mese......ciao g88......

  • bellissima........

  • Thank You for posting this. It is the best version of the Canon I have heard. The thing about the Canon is that I have heard it played sad; played exuberantly; played as a memory; played like a ride through the fields. Here it is played with perfect equanimity, midway between sad and happy, with some of both. I know of no other piece tht supports such a huge range of emotions in interpretation.

  • 4 people misclicked on dislike

  • eargasm

  • Yo...dis is that fuckin JAMMMM dope shit boi ya heard me? Chillin at the crib with my bitch smokin maple bluntzzz. You know, Christmas chillin'

  • george winston's brilliant, he turned the pachelbel canon into a good piece of music, lol

  • I love it....any chance you could share the score ?

I would really try to play this one.

    Thanks

  • @38Rey

the transcription for the entire album is published and available at pretty much any decent music store, or you can just order it online.

  • My kitty fell asleep next to the speaker lol

  • love it

  • listening to this makes me feel better...I'm glad he worked real hard to become this good

  • My father raised me on Metallica, the Grateful Dead, and the Rolling Stones (to name a few) but somehow I ended up prefering this... I guess I'm just that awesome XD The only one who seems to share and understand my love of classical is my grandpa. He always turns on Bach or Mozart or Rossini when the family comes over... I'll have to get him to listen to Pachelbel, he'll go berserk just like I did... THANX FOR POSTING! I LUFFLES YOUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @7435ash screw heavy metal. it has no sense of musicianship.

  • @ipoodaily Ummm... that's your preference. Like I said, I'm not the biggest fan of heavy metal anymore either. I will listen to it... but only if I absolutely have to. And I think you're wrong. James Hetfield (and NO. I didn't know that. I had to ask my dad.) is as much of a musician as Pachelbel. Granted, not as good. But still.

  • @7435ash I love everything from Metallica to the Dead kennedy's, BUT I come back to this to clear my head and find my way. There's nothing wrong with us!!!!!

  • @7435ash too funny

  • I feel happy now

  • This song was playing in the delivery room when I was born, and when I was little my dad would play this song...He called it the "Quiet Time Song" and I would lay in his arms and listen to it. I absolutely LOVE this song, and the ENTIRE December album.

  • @ZzGBEzZ what a wonderful way to bring a baby into the world...

even more wonderful than that is to raise a child to the calm sound of music.

Your dad is a very wise and loving man.

  • @ZzGBEzZ that's truly wonderful :o i would have loved to been born into this song. your dad just gave me like the best idea ever. thanks! songs like these are what brings people together :D

  • ugh wet fart.

  • 4 people accidentally sneezed while trying to click the 'like' button...

  • @Crocodile29 I didnt accidentally sneeze while trying to click the like button on this comment. way to be original you little bitch

  • @dustydaddyd WOAH THERE! SIMMER!

  • love this song,,,,,,,

wish i could play the piano....hmmm

  • J'ai exactement la même version. Maginifique!

  • Is that Ringo on drums?

  • whatever piano he's usin must have some really quick hammer action. cuz everytime i try to do that thing at the end, the key hasnt come back up by the time get to the second note

  • @musingineer Thats because he is probably using a ballroom or a concert grand, vs an upright.

  • @KevDude55 i couldnt even do it on the grand in the lounge. although it isnt very well maintained.....

  • Something about his playing that is so cool, sparkling, pure I don't really know how to describe it

  • Since when was Kanon a religious song...?

on the other hand, so what if kanon makes you feel graced?

    Guys, listen and chill OUT.

  • @hellodaytoo The Canon by Pachebel was written for the part of the catholic mass called the Canon. It was written for an instrumental mass, and is meant to lift thoughts to God. George Winston made some amazing secular modifications for the piano version.

  • This is so beautifull.

I wrote a lot more before, but this is al it takes to say want i want to say.

  • thats good

  • Pachelbel was very definitely a Christian who loved Jesus Christ. What about you? Do you have a personal relationship with the risen Son? Where will you spend eternity?

  • @otherworld11 wow, fuck off dude. just let people enjoy the music without having somebody shove religion down their throats.

  • @MrEightyGig Why the hostility?

  • @otherworld11 fuck you

  • @ryanpatrickfrench dude, otherqorld11 is a devout dude who knows his way of live. He can say what he wants. Hes not trying to hurt somebody. You, however, are a crazy fucker that uses expletives on the base purpose of opnion. FUCK YOU. stay off his back, bitch.

  • speechless !!!!

  • AAAAAA+ Creator God loves music and creativity. Guess who musical talents like this get creativity, this and talent, from? I give U the glory Jesus!!

  • How can someone unlike this composition? -.-

This is just wonderful, there are no words to express what the sound of the notes say :)

  • I cried when I first heard this song. It speaks in a language that is universal, its beauty is unmistakable. Everyone who has heard this song is now better off having heard it.

  • i'm learning to play this song :) this song always touches me... it always makes me happy i <3 this song i love george winston i always puts me to sleep too it's soooo beautiful i love this version

  • Blessed Indeed. The music in Heaven will sound just like this...

  • absolutely beautiful. Its better hearing him in person though...

  • such a pretty tune~ <3

  • i like this version the mosttttttt

  • I wanna play this music too. but my friend who is a pianist said you need to have a skill level 12 = ="

  • @northtempest

lol just try it doesnt hurt

  • 素敵な音楽だ。ポッ♪(*´ェ`)

  • just became a fan! got to get this album!

  • Este video se los dedico a todos los amigos de SubDivx, pagina en donde conocì mucha gente, de quienes me despido de los foros pues hoy decidieron suspenderme el acceso, de todos modos la pasè muy bien con todos.

  • George Winston plays so beautifully, its amazing

  • thanks for giving me this song. It is soooo beautilful. Favorite song on piano.

Makes my surrondings soo peaceful.lol! They should play this for a wedding!

  • five stars, no question

  • It makes me super comfortable..

  • Good Shot! kkkk

  • I find it amazing how this song stirs deep rooted emotions in me. Reminding me of loved ones be it family or friends who are no longer here. It brings them back to life in a way for me and yet saddens me as well. At the... same time it also reminds me to celebrate the life and not the loss of the these individuals..

  • Tony, thanks for sharing this beautiful music with me. ^_^.... It means a lot to me. Good luck in 2010.

  • if you like this beautiful piece, you will like "Christmas Canon" performed by Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

  • Saw TSO in Cleveland-absolutely mind blowing. My wife hates metal, loves TSO.

  • beautiful, Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL.... It just doesn't get much better than this.

  • At times my favorite version of the Canon.

Not faithful to the original; slightly imperfect performance; full of the magic of the thing.

  • im presionante.

Esta canción verioneada por Winston me acompaño un verano entero y aprendí a tocarla de oido al piano.

  • this song makes me calm when i am crazy.I want to learn how to play it on piano!

  • estupendo, magnifico,no cabe dura que el ser humano es lo mas grande que dios a creado.

  • LOVE THIS!! Thanks for sharing! George Winston is a magician when it comes to the keyboards!

  • super !!

  • i just got back from watching him play a few songs, simply amazing

  • This song is a blessing God Bless You George!

  • this is the best version of this piece i've ever heard

  • hey u guys know where to find this music sheet????

  • If you buy the album, put the disc in the computer. You can print out the sheets for free.

  • thanks good to know

  • @Shade1453 really? so how do i go about doing this, where do i get the CD?

  • @123456omgeezy

You can buy it off Amazon for about 8 bucks. It's not that expensive. Plus it's got some good music to go along with the sheets. =]

  • the best!

  • Just saw him play last night and it was in a very initimate place. He is a very humble and nice man. His personality goes with his music. I was quite transformed. He played this and the audience just gasped when he said he was going to play it. It was as beautiful as he recording.

  • Wow!!

    George Winston's canon version!!

    It's very sweet to listen!!

    Excellent!!

  • this is the best version ever!!! it's simply amazing!!! i'm in love with it!!! ;-)

  • Amazingly beautiful. I've always like

    George Winston's arrangement.

    glorious! thank you.

  • There is Pachelbel's Canon written some 300 years ago and there is George Winston's interpretation. Is there any doubt that he wrote this for Winston?

  • @ca4546 Best comment I've read on here for a while. Agreed, 100%.

  • @ca4546

I have no doubt about that at all! And that centuries later it was for Winston to soar highest with it in the 20th. Other centuries will see new interpretations soar high too, but Winston's performance and version is for the ages as much as Pachelbel's composition. :-)

  • @ca4546 yes

  • @ca4546 No...none...

  • @ca4546 it's pretty damn great, I admit... the choral version in the movie "Ordinary People" is awesome also.

  • Thank you.

  • This is a really lovely song! One of the best made in music history!

  • Hey, no problem playing this with small hands.. I have incredibly small hands and I play this with no problem at all..

  • Impossible to play having a small left hand ....

One of the most beautiful songs ever written.

  • I have a small left hand and i can play the left hand of this piece with no problems :)

  • You can, you just have to leave a few notes out. Works for me.

  • A man with God's grace, you can tell he's been blessed!

  • i can play this version when i was in HS.. cant remember it now though. haha

  • the best piano player who hears music from angles and shares it with us aren't we so lucky to have music and musicsian s that capturre the stars the moon and stars

  • I love Canon. I love George Winston. Although I didn't know it in 1984, Winston got me hooked on classical with December: Carol of the bells. I am 38 now and it has taken me this long to find out that George Winston's version of Canon is the best ever. Thank you George, you make me want to pay the piano again.

  • so peaceful

  • my piano teacher came in and played this variation and I was like: wow. I just need to play that

and then she said that I wasnt quite ready (and I believe I can) so now Im trying my hardest to move on and play liek this.

  • @estyylo good luck to you, I hope you manage it

  • this is one of those songs that make you... I dunno. It just feels great

  • Comment removed

  • ♪

  • trop belle!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw George Many years ago at Berkely and it was amazing-he took some time off to play some Hawaiian slack guitar which he played-I ended up buying the CD of it and I so wish it was available in MP3-

If you want to know what a heaven sounds like, listen to GW and hear a glimpse;-)

  • Life is Beautiful my Friends, Rejoice!

  • Although, I prefer Pachabel's Canon in D when played fully orchestrated, this is a favorite piano version.

  • my favorite variation :P too bad its kinda hard for me on the piano

  • If you listen to it often enough, it's not that hard... Don't focus on the music sheet, follow your instincts concerning the rhythm.

  • If I had only one rendition of Canon in D it would be this one. Thank You George.

  • The most beautiful rendition of the Kanon ever!! George Winston has been my favorite pianist since I first heard him in 1984. Thank you, George, for the many hours I have enjoyed your music!!!!

  • Merci... Cette mélodie me transporte et me transportera toujours... Plus de 10 ans que je l'écoute et je ne m'en lasse pas ... Many Thanks..

  • Je t'ecoute. Elle me transporte aussi.

  • where can i get an mp3 of this file?

  • You will always be my favorite pianist in my lifetime!!!!

  • I like it very much

    This is my special song

  • Love George Winston's music! This is so beautiful! I love his December album!

  • This song is sooooooo pretty

  • Pachabel is awesome. George winston is awesome
