What do you feed her for diet food? My boy is still chubbier than he should be, though he has gotten better. But his weight stubbornly holds out and doesn't go much lower than it is now. I walk him and have him on R/D vet food. Any other things working for you?
Cool dog but it's WAY WAY overweight. It's going to develop back problems if it weights too much. My standard dachshund is exactly 22lbs...i take him roller blading and he eats exactly 1 cup of dry dog food a day (I measure it out). No human food either.
that is so funny! my cocoa does the same thing! her momma Snick is a fat black and tan too. My boy Bosco is skinny and they eat and exercise the same. I had them check her thyroid, it's just strange. thanks for your video

Again, there is a difference between the Mini's and the regular Dachshunds. I feed mine ONCE a day, Beneful, very few treats. All muschle baby. Main point is he has a loving parent, unlike the millions who are starved and/or abused. I've rescued too many to count. Lay off, OK? Tubby-n-da-tub rocks!

No reliable vet would say a Dachy of that size is healthy, the weight is clearly around his stomach - not just the deep chest and muscular build. These dogs have amazing longevity until idiots over feed them putting unnecessary strain on the back and heart. so either your vet is a pothead or your trying to defend yourself.
My dachsund (male though) looks EXACTLY like this and I had so many ppl tell me he was too fat that I took him to the vet! He reassured me that Bernie is NOT overweight, but the deep chest and muscles make him look that way. Dachshunds are German hunting dogs. A true King Dachshund should be able to fight badgers, foxes, and wild boars. The problem is ppl. breeding them to fit in purses or laps (mini's). Since I have both kinds, I definitely see the differences, but the love is the same.
