  • This is one of the best movies made, my one time favorite and everytime i cry ofcourse i want to be Elizabeth

  • i love this movie!! but the book is fantastical! the movie is too.. i love the music.

  • I love Keira in this!

  • Mrs. Bennet is exactly like my own mother. I identify with Elizabeth sooo much...including our names.. :)

  • I'd like to have my own Mr. Darcy as well!!!

  • Simply brilliant!!!!!!! I'm in love you with Mr. Darcy!!!

  • can you upload the duchess? please?

  • Mr. Bennet is my favorite character in the book.

They took a lot of his best lines out in the movie though. D:

  • the novel is good and the movie is more better

  • Daaarcyyy!!

  • i just love how Darcy keeps glancing at Elizabeth! ^^ especially how he sort of double takes when he first sees her! =) Aaaaa so cute

  • Nothing beats the adaptation with Colin Firth. The acting and casting are so much better.. and once you've seen the best, everything else is just not the same :]

  • oh i just LOVE this movie.. the gowns.. the setting.. love it!! <3

  • ive seen the theatre production, several time and both are good its just the movei u get more, and the theatre u gg pay attention or ull miss something lol

  • I love this movie! <3

  • I must say that when Mr. Darcy, Mr. Bingley, & his sister enter the room they look an awful lot like vampires lol. Reminded me of Twilight or something, for some reason. hehe xD

  • i think jennifer ehle is much better.

  • Excellent movie...it reflects a real LOVE STORY... all real love stories have the same in common.. the girl the boy the father the sister they have all acted as it should be. I watched over and over again.. Music is also great..

  • Oh Gooooddddddddddddd Keira Knightley is so annoying. If only they had cast somoene else I could watch the thing.

  • @ribenacreep I officially marked your comment as spam.

  • KEIRA KNIGHTLEY IS SO FREAKIN PRETTYYYY!!! *jealous*

and i want a Mr. Darcy too. LOL.

  • I dont think that any version has ever brought the book accross to us 100%, theres a lot to the story. Some thing I watched recently that I loved "Lost Austein" It was really good, I'm sure the die hard Austein fans may have issues with some of the concepts of the story, but I loved it!

  • thank you 4 posting this x

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the song @9:30 It's not on the album and I LOVE this song!!

  • so dumb :S....

  • I think both the movie and the book are as classic as the other. :)

  • bingley's hair looks like la roux's.

  • Could you post the next segment, with that terrific dance at the Assembly Room?! I tried to look for it but couldn't acess it as it has been "blocked in my country" Argh!!

  • 2:32 LOL for some reason i find that part adorable(:

  • I do believe this is a beautiful production even if it is different from the book.

  • Joe Wright, you are so good like Krzysztof Kieslowski in Three Colours ,,Blue,,.Perfect film.I love this film.

  • I love the novel, I've read it at least a dozen times, but I love the movie too. One thing the film has that the book doesnt ... Matthew Macfadyen.

  • @WinningisforLosers This is true. Matthew Macfadyen embodies Mr. Darcy. I. want. him. :)

  • KEIRA,take me,i have 20000 euro in year,is not bad,believe me.

  • I hate this version. Kiera Knightly's portrayal does not do justice to the character of Elizabeth Bennett. She acts like a giggly, frivolous and foolish young girl and that is not Elizabeth Bennett at all. The delivery of the lines especially during the romantic scenes were so rushed like the actors were in a rush to get it over with....so much to criticize but it's not even worth it.

  • @craphaw Agreed. The BBC version will always be my favorite. Colin Firth did such a good job as Mr. Darcy!...And I forget the name of the actress who played Elizabeth Bennett...but she was a class act.

  • this movie is so romantic what ever happened to dudes like mr. darcy who loved so blindly and would do anything for the people he loved. people can say that keira knightly wasnt a good fit for lizzy but this movie is just beautiful in its own rights thumbs up to it. and truly Matthew McFaydden melted my heart as Mr. Darcy

  • why does darcy look so... on the edge, uncomfortable and extremely un-arrogant?

  • I love when he first looks at Lizzy. *Sigh*

  • If you like Matthew McFaydden's performance as Darcy, check him out in "Death at a Funeral". The British version, not the American remake. He's hilarious!

  • When I was in school I attempted to read the book and couldnt get through it however I love this movie... i am also a sucker for corsets and carriages.

  • @thats2crazy

That's because you weren't ready for it! Try it again and you will like it. Also, I HATED all the books they made me read in school and when I reread them they weren't so bad acutally. Everything suffers when ripped to pieces!

  • i wish mary had a larger part :(

  • I really believe Keira Knightley is the perfect Elizabeth.

  • @taalliho That's because you haven't seen the BBC TV series version. Keira Knightley's is not "gentle" enough to be Elizabeth. She looks like she's can jump Darcy and kung-fu flip him over the shoulder...

  • I love this movie. <3 Watched it like TONS of times. xDDD Never get sick of it.

  • This is one of my favorite - if not my favorite - movies. The chemistry between the characters, Darcy & Elizabeth and the Bennet family in general, is really what makes me like it. It's so believable, and Jane and Elizabeth really look like the best of friends!

  • 5,000 a year! Teehee and now 30,000 is considered shabby.

  • Good heavens! People..

  • I think that this is one of the the rare cases in which the new version is better than the old one! I liked the old version's but this one is the best by far! :D lol I'm a sucker when it comes to the classic movies! :D lol

  • I'm reading the book now, and although it's taking me forever I really like it.

  • this movie is so gooood its one of the best movies ever as "classics"

  • not speak english but to have idioma original kiss for colombia

  • I love Kitty.

  • is it only me who thinks lydia is being bad acted?

  • i love this movie :)

  • of course the mother is annoying . . .she is supposed to be. This is part of the way we see people and relationships and why they are so complex. Jane portrayed people as we really are. Look at Mr. Collins...whew....now he was annoying! (Tom Hollander is terrific in "Wives and Daughters")

  • me n my sisters lol at the dance every time. XD

  • they did not live like this....no nasty pigs in the house, ever. They lived well and not as depicted here. The mother is supposed to be annoying. Their home was clean, tidy and well ordered. Not a sloppy, mucky, farm. The book was funny. I laughed out loud. Jane had a terrific sense of humor and used it in most of her writing! Most of the things she wrote were tongue- in- cheek lashings at the 'society' of England.

  • @homealone2nana lol you don't think the mom is annoying in the movie? haha. i think she's really annoying.

  • Personnally, I don't like this adaptation. I don't think Keira Knightley depicts Elizabeth Bennet properly, she's too light and bubbly, not proud enough. She's too soft and peasantlike for the role according to the book. It's my opinion, though.

  • I want my own mr. Darcy

  • @ohmyflipflop LMAO join the club.

  • @Spitfyrus And I want to fall in love the way she falls for him.

  • @ohmyflipflop and i want my own Lizzie Bennett

  • @ohmyflipflop Don't we all :)

  • Keira Knightley is wonderful in this film, but I like her a lot anyway, so much so that I went to see her live in the Misanthrope :) I haven't actually read Pride & Prejudice, but the film just captures the time and genre beautifully. I guess I should get on that one, though I am quite caught up in Evelina by Frances Burney at the moment.

  • I read the book when I was young and was so entranced by it even though I was so young, and now that I am a teen and I watched the file it's so magical. They acted well in this movie, and I loved every minute of it!

  • Why did they change some of the costumes from Regency to Colonial?

  • oh heavens...people <3

  • I've never seen this movie before... I hope the mother in this version is not as annoying as the mother in the bbc version, lol

  • @de116925

agreed - the mother in the bbc version is insufferable. Like something out of panto

  • This movie is a perfect reflection of JANE AUSTIN.This is beyond Keira Knightley's BEST PERFORMANCE!i!

  • the a&e version is better

  • @bluberrypenguin What a&e version?? I think you mean the BBC version that was later aired on a&e.

  • P&P kicks twilights sparkly ass. we need more love stories like this

  • my god how perfect they are all in this movie...one of the best ever done.....

  • DAG, $10,000 a year! Wow, times SURE have changed. That was rich back then! When money had worth :)

  • The blonde actress here is so pretty.

  • If someone has answered this already, I apologize, but I have a question about Mr. Bennet saying "She's going to take the veil." to Mary. It's after Lydia and Kitty bounce up to Mrs. Bennet to tell her about the regiments. What did Mr. Bennet mean by what he said? It sounded like it was a joke between him and Mary.

  • @chichirismuse I think "taking the veil" means becoming a nun, which is probably the last thing the youngest Ms. Bennetts have in mind.

  • @chichirismuse: "taking the veil" means : to become a nun.

  • @chichirismuse: ah, sorry, ElizabethBennett1775 has answered this already ;)

  • i doubt if Miss Lizzy will ever hold her tongue

  • This version is Diet to BBC's Regular. Less filling, lighter, but not nearly as delicious. ; )

  • wats up with part 2?????

  • Matthew MacFadyen is not only an intensely gorgeous Mr. Darcy, but a brilliant man of God in The Pillars of Earth series on Starz....is there anything he can't do? :)

  • "Good heavens, people..." LOL

  • 5:51 is an awesome scene :D

  • Awful!

  • Lizzy has a weird smile.

  • THIS is my favorite version of P&P!!!

  • kitty's dating shia labeouf :O

  • Thanks for posting this. I think Matthew MacFayden is a better mr.Darcy than Colin Firth. He appears more broody .

  • @tulaeve I SOOOO agree, Matthew was a very unique and surpirisng character to play MR. DARCY, i was pleasantly surprised and I loved all the cast they were amazing;)

  • @picframe000 this cast is better then the 1995 one but the 1995 version has more details :)

  • I watched the 1995 version and that was a lovely version. But you have to admit with the exception of colin firth everyone in the cast of the 2005 version is better looking than the cast of 1995 version.

  • @faithfuldescent

    Lol very true

  • What upsets me is that people grade this movie for it's closeness to the book. I have read the book, but I appreciate the movie for different reasons. Can we not just enjoy the film as a film? It's photographed and directed beautifully, the editing itself flows nicely in general, and I think that this is one of Keira Knightley's better performances.

  • @wildthings65

I feel like the movie highlights all the big scenes from the book, which given a 2 hour time limit is all it could real do. You see all the big scenes but you don't the more natural gradual character development of the book.

Saying this I like both the book and the movie

  • @wildthings65

thank you. I think that any changes made in adapting the book were for the better (filmically speaking). In fact I don't think these sorts of adaptations come better than this.

A heartfelt adaptation, but more importantly a beautiful film in its own right

  • @wildthings65 i have to agree with you i read the book atleast 4 to 6 times and and they are both a piece of art all on itx own (movie and book)..

  • @wildthings65 i agree, the movie is very different from the book but i love them both!!

  • @wildthings65 I can't agree more. :))

  • @wildthings65 Yes it was phenomenal performance

  • @wildthings65

i saw this movie before reading the book and i must say i lie the movie better and that the reason i read the book was because of the movie.best performance as elizabeth and darcy ever

  • @issiendy but that's not really the point i'm trying to make. I'm not trying to say that one is better than the other. They're both entirely beautiful interpretations, and we should appreciate each for different reasons. :)

  • @wildthings65 I understand what you mean but it is very annoying when they change the hole story into something different

  • @Niamphje I've never seen a movie that has changed a whole plot. I think you're exaggerating a bit. Adaptations strive to portray what the book portrays, but in a different art, so sometimes small plot changes are involved. Some cuts and alterations have to be made for the respect of film making itself. Screenwriters won't sacrifice a good film just to make it exactly like the book. A book and a movie are different. They are different arts, so they deserve different respects and processes.

  • @wildthings65 sometimes they change things where it is unnececary like in Harry Potter. I'm not saying it's always a bad thing to change things.

  • @wildthings65 well said it is a very beautiful adaption of austens book, to relax and dream of the past and the romantic love. Lizzies is very lovely and darcy is a man to dream of. just enjoy it

  • Speaking of HP references, Mr. Darcy's a regular Severus Snape :O

  • @MightyLittleMan000 lol, my thoughts exactly when i saw him:)

  • Mr.Darcy is a h-o-t-t-i-e!!! lol :)

  • The mom reminds me of Mrs. Weasley

  • I can tell in the first few minutes that this movie deviates from the book more than the Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle version. I love that version. No criticisms whatsoever with that one, except maybe with the portrayal of Mary. Hopefully this version can win me over too :)

  • i like the mary in this one better then the 1995 version.. i just didnt think the book portrayed her as solemn and gray as the 1995 version did. here she is much more lively and pretty :)

  • I love this movie, but I like the BBC version better. The BBc version of Emma is also one of my favorites. They stay true to the books.

  • omg thank you so much for uploading this movie =]

  • They sure know how to make an entrance...But Mr Darcy is sooooo fine.

  • this is a modern adaptations of the book. its unique and entertaining in its own way.. although true, i love the BBC's adaptations more..

  • Mr. Darcy <3

  • Can you upload this movie again, so I can watch it on YouTube? Thanks.

  • thnx so much for uploading

  • The music and cinematography of this version is great.

  • I would love to have Part Two! The dancing at the assembly room is my favorite scene!

  • part 2 has been taken down ;(

  • Oh how I love this movie....and this book. Might be my all time favorite

  • i love the beginning scene. so beautiful.

  • Oh quit the BBC vs 2005 argue! Why can't a poor girl like them both? In my opinion the BBC version is closer to the book, and the 2005 version has its own charm. I'd say the BBC version is calmer, deeper and snarkier, with a rather cynic view of the characters, while the 2005 version is as if it was so enchanted by the story it couldn't help but to happily dance through it. It's also much kinder to the characters, making them all rather symphatic.

  • There is only two movies I can watch over and over again without getting sick of them. This, and Crossroads. (:

  • I dislike keira knightly as lizzie she is NOTHING like this in the book and very much better in the book.

  • How in the world can Eliza declare to Lady Catherine that she is a "gentlemen's daughter" and not leaving her sphere, when you have here running around with pigs in the house... I think they missed the point of the benetts being "not so poor". And as far as Jennifer Ehle being bland??? Come on, the nuance of her lizzie puts Knightley to shame. If one talks of bland, it would be the 2005 Mrs. Bennett compared to the Amazing performance by Alison Steadmen.

  • The music at the beginning is sooo beautiful.

Love this version ! Great movie.....<3

  • " good heavens... people" lol i love that part its awesome!!!!! i do like this movie it is really good!!!! <3

  • can anyone give me a good quote from this movie?

  • @topmodelparasiempre Mr. Darcy: So this is your opinon of me? Thank you. Perhaps these offences might have been had your pride not been hurt by scruples about our relationship. Am to rejoice in the inferiority of your recent circumstances?

Elizabeth: And those are the words of a gentleman? From the moment I met you your aroggance and conceit and your selfish disdain for the feelings of other made me realize that you are the last man in the world I could ever be prevailed upon to marry.

  • I watch this movie over and over and notice something new every time.

  • prob my all time fav movie.

  • I so adore this movie ...!!

  • THIS is a true classic romance... unlike Twilight.

  • @whisperandsecret Twilight is just, don't get me started on "Twilight"

  • @whisperandsecret

very very true, although I'm barfing a bit in my mouth that

the word "Twilight" has even been written near Pride & Prej. :]

  • @BeautifulBellaJen Completely agree.

  • how odd Jane is the only blond in the family. haha

  • @emilydbsk mr bennet wass probably blond, before he got OLD:D

  • Comment removed

  • i love thiss moviee likee FORRREALLL ITS SO ROMANTICCC I LOVEEEEE ITTT ♥

  • "Tolerable" Ouch....

  • Mary's very pretty in this version.... and Charlotte is so much plainer. I think their actresses in the Colin Firth version were so much truer.

  • keira knightly really captured me in this movie. I love Lizzy's character. really a great movie & my favorite.

  • i honestly like both the 1995 version and this one, they both have their own charm. especially lizzie, in the older version, she doesn't take herself seriously and (to me more beautiful especially for that time period) but this one, she is more playful.

  • although this one is good i think the one with Colin Firth is better maybe because in that one Mr. D gets wet XD

  • cant stop watching this over and over. My faveeee

  • i love this movie and i am still reading the book now..and in both the book and the movie the mom gets on my nerves

  • Thank you for posting this! <3

    THIS MOVIE IS AMAZING!

  • so this is oe of my favorite movies, ive probably seen this movie like milions of times, never gets boring*(:

  • Wow, I am so relieved to hind this still on youtube and not been deleted. thank you so much :D xx

  • keira knightley is awesome!

  • Was the mother really that obviously money-grubbing?

  • @lordportico No, she just wanted all of her daughters to be securely married and taken care of.

  • Noooooo it cut off at my favorite part!

  • what happened to the rest of the movie please upload!

  • i like the movie but the book is better it has more details

  • The Colin Firth version is soooooooooooooo long. blah!

  • i absolutely LOVE this movie!! and story in general!!!

  • I love this movie!. This Version!

  • i love keira she play so good

  • i love the opening to this movie so much, its incredible. sunshine =]

  • Nooooooooooooooooooooooo wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! I ahve been looking for this for so long! Thank youuuuuuuuuuuu!

  • Great great Jane Austen
