I honestly can't believe all the comments about the guage. LOL Looks like it pulls pretty good. Are you using the stock BPC Valve? I went with a manual one once, and ended up having to do a head gasket on my 9000... lol A little too much boost. Plus I went through 2 T25's. The Aero's TD04 is the balls though!
oxy i got your back it is too a boost gauge. if it was anything else why would it say boost/apc (the fucking thing that controls all boost in the car) (apc) that is.. fuck all the wrong people you know your shit oxygeninc.
Yes, this is a boost gauge measuring pressure in the vacuum lines at the intake manifold. Stock 9000 Turbo would run just to the start of the red. I'll take some movies of one of our graduated gauges for you. This car has over 2 BAR peak boost. Next I will add a larger turbo charger. Trust me, I've been working on Saabs for 18 years.
you may be right. On the 9-3s and 9-5s that is an airflow meter gauge, however, NOT a boost gauge. Could be different for the 9000 as it is an older car.
You guys are nuts ;-) It's a boost gauge. 93SS, 95, 9000, 900, 99, period. :-) What's the point of said air flow meter? No such thing unless your talking a 1983 Cadillac with a economy gauge. Saabs have boost gauges for the turbo pressure they also read vacuum when the car is not under boost.
^ it is not a boost gauge. If you've been working on these cars for years, you'd know that. Look in the WIS for yourself and see how that gauge is made. It measures the amount of air, not the pressure.
Sorry but it is not an air flow meter get one in you hands. They are pressure and vacuum gauges. They simply measure boost pressure. You know how much volume a gauge would have to run to measure air flow LOL. And what would be the point? It's a boost gauge. ;-) we sell graduated ones if you ant to see how much pressure you are running.
What would be the point? Well it's similar to a boost gauge. You can still tell boost/vacuum like you said, but with a delay and not very precisely. If you are really a mechanic, look into the WIS, simple as that. I doubt that the factory service manual can be wrong.
I'm right sorry. True the new boost gauges are electronic however they are boost gauges measuring manifold pressure period ;-). If I'm really a mechanic lol call me so I can explain how it works... Ya I own WIS and a Tech 2 oh and MapTun USA
There is no sender under the hood for a boost gauge, nor any circuitry to convert pressure from as sender to an electrical signal. Look for yourself. Or, even better, install a boost gauge and see the difference between the airflow meter, which is fully electronic, by the way, in the dash and the boost gauge.
Ya like I said a boost gauge. You know for a turbo car measuring boost pressure... No point to measuring CFM. It's a boost gauge. See translation from Swedish is not straight forward sometimes... I would know as I deal with them on a daily basis. Sorry you don't understand. Call me I'll explain so you understand.
Actually this car, my 9000 Aero does indeed have a vacuum line running to said gauge in the picture. We also install graduated boost gauges to this line all the time it reads directly off the manifold. It's a Boost gauge. ;-) 100%
no dude... that's for sure a boost gauge. Take your dash top off and look at the back of the instrument cluster... there's a vacuum line coming through the firewall inserted right behind the BOOST gauge, not CFM gauge... c'mon, let's give SAAB a little more credit... a CFM gauge? lol
What is all the confusion about? The turbo/apc gauge with the blue / yellow / red partitions is a boost gauge. The blue area is vaccumn - negative pressure if you disconnect a vaccumn hose you will feel the manifold sucking on your finger. The yellow is boost - positive pressure and red is high end of the scale like the red in the rev counter the start of the blue area is around -25psi and between the blue and yellow is 0 psi. The end of the red is around 15psi
Area between the white and yellow is supposed to be 0 psi. The stock gauges are iffy, as mine reads slightly into the yellow when my autometer is saying 0 psi.
But, yea man get a boost gauge, im curious about some numbers!
that boost gauge means nothing. if you got that much psi you need a good gauge dude. because i know for a fact that that the middle of the yellow line is 0psi and my turbo is just spooled lol
what boost pressure are you running? nice car

only the full pressure models came with the gauge. That looks like over boost to me. Like the waistgate is wide open.

that is not a boost guage, it is an airflow meter. they are not the same

It's a boost guage. Look the car is fast what can I say thats what we do.

a boost gauge measures pressure in the vacuum lines, this airflow meter measure how much air the turbo is taking in.

Engine still "flowing" lots of air but gauge reading vacuum... due to no pressure. Its a boost gauge. ;-)
oxygeninc 3 years ago
Oh did you hear the boost pressure blow off as the gauge went down immediately?
oxygeninc 3 years ago
Electronic boost gauges did not exist when this car was made, and I don't see a vacuum line being connected to the dash.
Look in your WIS if you do not believe me. I have it too and I know what I am talking about.
Of course gauge will go down because less air flows into the turbo. It's still not a boost gauge, no matter how you look at it..

well then, I stand corrected. I guess the 9000s came with boost gauges.
9-3s and 9-5s come with airflow meters *only*. I can't believe they actually did it right in the older Saabs..
