You are more than just another crusader, just to put out there some simple succinct facts and truth will help drive those that know and may give the ill informed something to think about.
A wonderful video, really straight (no pun intended) to the point. Gay marriages have already happened, and no harm came to heterosexual marriages. It's time to just back off and let people live their lives, leave bigotry in the past.
P.S. to 'justanothercrusader)--Take Care & I wish you well. Maybe someone smarter then I will come along and resolve this matter to everyones liking. I sure hope so, because more anger and strife in this world is not what we need. Instead, more respect and tolerance is needed from ALL people. We all also need to respect one another and our differences. Another words, agree to disagree, but also with solutions.
If you truly just wanted equal rights, then why not just accept the same under the title 'union'. Now before you get all pissed off, because of my personal opinion, remember your own advice to others, about accepting others and their opinions. I gave mine, but more then likely, you will prove hypocrisy by getting all pissy about it.
Truth is, you want to steal the original religious meaning of the word marriage, to piss the religious community off. But you will never admit it the obvious.
@CameoCorner marriage actually predates Christianity. what you suggest would be okay, if state and federal rights came with it (right now, because of DOMA, some 1,138 federal rights do not, even in states where gay marriage is legal). As it is right now, Elvis could marry you and a person of the opposite sex in Vegas that you just met 15 minutes ago, and you would be immediately granted all those rights, while gay & lesbian couples together for decades would not. Does that seem fair to you?
@CameoCorner I've heard this "just don't call it marriage" argument before, yet opponents have recently demonstrated that even "union" is unacceptable (refer to Washington's "everything but marriage" law, and Hawaii's civil unions bill). In Washington state, all the rights were granted, but the term "marriage" was not used. Yet it was still vigorously opposed. Hawaii's governor recently vetoed a "civil unions" bill, citing that it was "too much like marriage". Can't win, can we?
@justanothercrusader Hi there justanothecrusader. To tell you the truth, I really am too busy to address all the comments about this anymore. Sorry, I'm just a really busy person, but I appreciate your reply. I don't know what more to say, other then I wish all parties well, and for all to get what they need, while pleasing all sides. It is not an easy matter to resolve, but perhaps someone will find the right solution. I do strongly believe in equal rights for gay people and ALL people.
I'm for equal legal rights for all people too, including gays having the same rights of married couples, but I'm not in favor of others stealing the original definition of a word. For ex. The gay community stole and changed the original definition of the word, which originally was defined as happy. Now, they want to change the original definition of the word marriage. So, is it equal rights legally you really want, or just simply to hijack the religious meaning of marriage?
@CameoCorner homosexuals want to EXPAND the definition of marriage to include "...two PEOPLE..." They don't want to hijack ANYTHING. It cannot in any way hurt your religious rights. Churches can go on discriminating all they want. ALL it would mean is that the STATE(GOV.) could no longer discriminate in regards to marriage on the basis of sex and sexual orientation. That's ALL. EQUALITY. Nothing more. Nothing less. How would you feel if someone else voted to take away YOUR rights?
I read a very endearing article about a couple of male penguins who set up house together and were even given a fertilised egg by a female penguin which they succesfully hatched and raised. They eventually split up after four years which is a pity.
In a zoo in Bremerhaven, Germany three pairs of male penguins had been seen attempting to mate with each other and trying to hatch offspring from stones.
