C'mon Doc, the risk aint worth it ... it's simple --- > I ate a half bag of "SmartFood popcorn" (NotSmart) didn't feel so good when I woke up ...sudden and intense fever and chills came over me, began vomiting, ended up in the emergency room in agony on multiple IV's .. that's where I found out that I had Diverticulosis/itis ... Here's the Kicker, the FIRST question the Emergency Doctor asked me was, "Did you eat popcorn or nuts" lol Pffft ... debunk ma' ass ...
Just got out of ER yesterday. I think it is really random. I had diagnosed in the early 90's with Diverticulitis and then never had any other symptom until this past week. My neice (a doctor) recommended I go to ER due to the fact that you never know if it is abcessed or not without lab work and ct scan. So I took her advice. In my case I am now taking antibiotics, lots of fluids and be led by Holy Spirit peace. I definately won't allow fear to rule me, only faith to make right choices.
ONe person's food is another person's poison Dr. Sorry but as a person with this disease nuts, popcorn, raw bell peppers and popcorn make me very ill. As it does several other people with this ailment. So I don't understand why all of the sudden the "myth" is debunked. Does that mean before when this was the recommended limits dr's didn't know what they were talking about? While sceince is not perfect you gotta love how dr's change it all up every few yrs then back to what it was originally
WOW! I haven't had a Brazil nut in 20 yrs. Hold on, I'm headed for the "Maize, Nuts, and Seeds Emporium." I've got a double sawbuck I've been waiting to blow since George Sr. was in there. This is a good day. PEACE...
you know this is very funny, because I have Diverticulosis, and I have been hospitalized twice 2003 and 2010...I hate nuts & have not eaten popcorn or corn since the first time I had a real bad episode in 2003. Since then I have still had a few episode and having a semi-episode now…this junk is confusing.
Upon learning I have moderate diverticulitis and being hospitalized twice in past 5 months I asked what I should avoid in my diet from my surgeon. He said eat anything you want. He mentioned this very same nationwide study in this video and those on restrictive diets had the same results as those on no diets.
my lower left abdomin started with a increasing burning spreading sensation/pain...it eased abit with cammomile tea but it started for the first time after i got an addiction with smartfoog popcorn.
If your Bleeding i'd Say stop those Foods .Eat Peanut butter .,..If your in remission I'd say go for It ..But If your suffering alot I'd Say play It Safe And eat Lighter more digestive foods .Doctors ar'nt always Right
Peanut butter causes mine to flare up...so not even that is always safe. Btw I know numerous people that have ate nuts. corn and paid dearly for it....including popcorn. So you are right about dr's not always being right.
I eliminated non-digestible foods such as corn kernal skins, the husks from popcorn, and small hard seeds that couldn't be chewed up. Especially on my list is strawberry and kiwi seeds. I am diverticulitis-free since 2003.
I respect the doctor's opinion but I'll go with my own experience. My physician told me that 80% of patients do not repeat the attack and to AVOID NON DIGESTIBLE FOODS. NEVER GET DEHYDRATED. EVER!! GOT IT?
As it turns out I have diverticulosis, years of flairups and abnominal pain.... Theres nothing that i enjoy more than going to the Movies and eating my popcorn, never did I ever felt pain after eating popcorn nor nuts and for that matter corn!!! Thanks for the info!!!
