  • Ask Phil Schaap! But yes, both are Eddie Durham arrangements & guitar. DurhamJazz. com Hear also even earlier Bennie Moten's NEW VINE STREET BLUES, RUMBA NEGRA...with Durham on banjo. Last recordings are on CD "Blue Bone".

  • They say, the earliest recording of an electric guitar was in september 1935. I think, this recording is from May 29th, 1935 and I hear Eddie Durhams e-guitar at 1'24''. Perhaps this ist the very first recording of this new instrument.

    Please tell me if I am wrong.

  • @ppue Hard to say if that's electric or not. I've heard the same sound on other Jimmie Lunceford songs off the For Dancers Only album. If they are electric then you may be right...
