Yes, David Sklansky supposedly offered to challenge a Christian believer to a SAT math section in half the time. The loser (person who scored less) would have to pay the other a certain amount. This was meant to prove that non-believers are more scientifically brilliant than believers. This challenge was idiotic by him because even if he gets a perfect score, any math professor (Ph.D in mathematics) at a Christian university will score perfect as well.
Hehe, okay so you don't believe in Jesus, God or anything Christian, I know I know, You just post those quotes from the bible for decoration. At least now I know you serve the damning Poker God....
that wasn't funny that is why no one answered him if I was playing pro poker and some guy was being irritating and making unfunny smalltalk I wouldn't respond either
You forgot the other lines, "They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good".
I can not prove that im not "vile" or done no "good" but Bill gates on the other hand Has Done more good with his charity than all the believers in god That I do know. So sorry to tell ya but that is another failed notion in the bible.
@Unbeginner - Do you know who wrote that Psalm? Do you know his history with God? History books (besides the inspired Bible, the Word of God) would tell you that the person who wrote this Psalm (Ill let you investigate) had quite a relationship with the God of Israel. He didnt know Jesus as you correctly state/assume, per se. Now, I believe Jesus to be God(come to Earth in the flesh) so there would be some areas there where we might disagree (if in fact you believe this Jesus lived)...
@Unbeginner - I encourage you to do an internet search on that word "inspired." First off, do you know why Christians say that the Bible is "inspired?" Ill give you a hint, there is a Scripture reference. Someone didnt just say one day that the writers were, lets substitiute the word with encouraged, or simply aroused to write these words because of a spiritual feeling from God. If that were it , you would be right(sorta)...anyone could be as you say, inspired, to write something poetic, or...
@Unbeginner ...something beautiful, encouraging, or what have you. Anyhow, thanks for your response. I just encourage you to better understand the word for inspired here as used in the Bible. It might not change your position, but it will better help you see what the writer(God - another hint) was meaning to communicate.
Just because no one answered his question doesn'r mean they don't believe in God. As you can see not everyone was smiling at the remark that obviously was very funny only to him. It is too bad that often times people don't stand up for what they believe in (spiritually speaking). But then again, perhaps they thought it was not the time or the place to start a religious conversation and chose instead to ignore him.
No surprise from this bunch of boring people, although they seem to be good guys, at least Ferguson, who is a very nice guy. Brunson and Negreanu believe in God and they shine more.
The dealer is prohibited from socially interacting with the players. That is simply the rules. There are VERY good reasons for these rules. They are in place to protect the dealer, the players and the integrity of the game.
Chen was not wrong to ignore the dealer. He was, in fact, required to ignore the dealer.
That's bullshit. I've had many conversations with dealers and seen hundreds of other players do the same. In fact if you would open your eyes you would see Warren acknowledge the dealer. From what I hear Chen is an arrogant asshole when it comes to this stuff and that's why he ignored her.
This is what I often hear from obscurantist religionists who exercise endless, desperate, mind warping intellectual gymnastics in desperation to justify the maintenance of all manner of incoherent world-views.
For instance, here you choose to offer up the some form the Kaalam mixed with some ontological for flavor. Fine.
Even if I grant you a first cause argument, just for argument sake--not because it is coherent--how does that then get to YOUR god? PLEASE spare me.
You write, "God is defined as the source of existence, the primary cause of all that is." And your your implication is that this is the definition of the Christian god?
Voltaire wrote, "if you would argue with me, first define your terms."
You offer up a deistic definition of origins in order to defend Christianity. This is completely disingenuous. The Christian god's role is claimed to be much more broad than this. You say "atheists have a...false image of god." ...
It seems to me you have made up an image of a god that you feel comfortable with, then named it the Christian god, probably for social convenience.
And still you have the audacity, the unmitigated arrogance, the ignorant sense of pious false superiority to dismiss as "false" out-of-hand anyone who challenges your self concocted world-view.
Get over yourself.
And read a few enlightenment books while your at it.
dealer does ... but no one noticed her at the table

It's really not credible.
How is a book that tells you to believe in God over and over again a good source for telling you that fools say there is no God?
It's still the same book and if it's a reason to believe in God than the people who wrote it couldn't have believed in God themselves.
Even if what's said in the Bible was true, I think not all authors even met Jesus to know about it.
And if they were "inspired" by God, than you and I could be "inspired" too and write stuff.

When I tried to translate what you said into semantics, I didn't see the difference between
-being inspired, thinking God is talking to you or guiding you to write stuff somehow
or
-being inspired, thinking that if you only believe in God or at least just feel connection to it you write stuff about it
or even
-writing stuff you know aren't true
from the point of view of credibility in all the things mentioned in the Bible including the very existence of God.

He was talking to the players, not the dealer.

This is often what I hear from atheists who have a totally false image of God.
In the Christian perspective, God is not some magical man with a beard looking down on the world from teh clouds.
Wrong.
God is defined as the source of existence, the primary cause of all that is.
If there is no God, just meaningless matter; then philosophically, ask yourself this question: Why is there something rather than nothing?
