Touchscreens are bound to be much cheaper ten years from now (think about it) which is why we'll probably be seeing then in a lot of places. Touchscreens are very useful, they're like blank canvases you can put anything on.
We've already got the technology to do most of this. The only differences are that our touchscreens aren't see-through, we can't instantly swipe one piece of information onto another machine and machines aren't quite as thin as they are n this clip.

Touchscreens are cool now, and they will continue to advance and yes in about 20 years they will be as depicted in this video ... BUT ... technology is always moving forward. Any prediction of the future needs to look beyond the touchscreen to things such as enhanced voice control/commands, holographs, eye movement tracking and electronic impulses from simple thoughts. The best thing humans could hope to do right now is to slow down technology before it's apart of every aspect of our lives. I'm really starting to hate the technology we have now. I really hope this isn't how the future is 20 years from now. I don't know if I could stand to live in a world like this video portrays. I'm only 20 years old and I just cannot foresee happiness amongst people with this kind of lifestyle. I think we need to go back in time about 30 years and stay there.

Although I'm a little skeptical about the fact that we'll have this technology by that time, I'm pretty sure that this'll be the next step/revolution in the way we interact with our computers. They'll be minimalistic and integrated in almost everything in our environment- I mean it just can't go any other way... I'm just hesitant to think so- because of potential practicality issues and costs.

Touchscreens are cool now, and they will continue to advance and yes in about 20 years they will be as depicted in this video ... BUT ... technology is always moving forward. Any prediction of the future needs to look beyond the touchscreen to things such as enhanced voice control/commands, holographs, eye movement tracking and electronic impulses from simple thoughts. By the end of the century tech will function based on will rather than movement. (in other words, think it and it does it)

@bashuijps even though this stuff is already being installed into houses TODAY?. my neighbors just spent 60 grand updating their house, they have all the stuff you saw in this video. intelligent mirrors that tell you the weather/news, their refrigerator has internet access and can download cooking recipes and it even updates your shopping list. their entire house is connected to the internet, even the showers lol.

@bashuijps the main difference between those projections and these are that most of these are being produced and have working prototypes as well as commercial products. I think the difference being that we have a greater understanding of expectations for the future then we could have had in the 60's

Future predictions always say more about the present than the future. is shows what technologies we think will keep on evolving and which dont. So this cool video shows we all believe in the potential of touchscreens and holographic displays. But is it really that future proof? it only looks neat, but its expensive, fragile and hard to repair.

The best thing humans could hope to do right now is to slow down technology before it's apart of every aspect of our lives. I'm really starting to hate the technology we have now. I really hope this isn't how the future is 20 years from now. I don't know if I could stand to live in a world like this video portrays. I'm only 20 years old and I just cannot foresee happiness amongst people with this kind of lifestyle. I think we need to go back in time about 30 years and stay there.

Sorry to destroy your dreams, but today not all people even have 1MBit Internet access and 30MBit not before 2050.
Technology is easy (we already have some of this), but the time we need to implement it in practice is a problem. Public hospitals, doctors, schools and public offices sometimes wait decades to accept and install new devices. They are still struggling to adopt e-mail. So better make that 2040 for high-society and 2080 for common people.

Although I'm a little skeptical about the fact that we'll have this technology by that time, I'm pretty sure that this'll be the next step/revolution in the way we interact with our computers. They'll be minimalistic and integrated in almost everything in our environment- I mean it just can't go any other way... I'm just hesitant to think so- because of potential practicality issues and costs.
