  • check out Tony Rice and Jake Cinninger their both wicked

  • Django :')

  • Rhandy Roads is missing :O

  • man you forgot the teachers of rock riffs Tony Iommy and Jimmy Page

  • my top 5

    1) Paco De Lucia

    2)Andres Segovia

    3)Tomatito

    4)Ana Vidovic

    5)Vicente Amifo

  • En mi opinion falta SLASH ;)

  • Shawn Lane + Alan Holdsworth are the finest practitioners of the electric six-string.

  • your opinion and Jimmy Page,Blackmore !!!!!!

  • All 10 guitarists are technical monsters in their respective genre, but my top three are:

    1. Paco

    2. Wes

    3. Tal

Everyone is familiar with Paco's tremendous picado speed; however, I'm impressed how Wes Montgomery plays those Bebop lines with his thumb without losing punch.

  • How can you have batio playing a legendary song which was made by Rhoads??? I love the music of all 9 but have a big problem with you posting Micheal angelo batio as being the musician behind the great song that is crazy train.... it's Randy Rhoads you idiot!!!

  • y Chuck Norris?

  • Segovia is good but John Williams is great

  • Sabicas ????

  • Good choices, but the guy playing crazy train needs a hair cut (and not musical). Paul Gilbert and Malmstien get my vote.

  • Whos the guy who tries to add pink floyd in every guitar thread ?. He's a good song writer but did nothing impressive with guitar. He's good but very average !

  • And David Gilmour...

  • Paco The best!!!

  • JASON BECkER not in your list now i m sure your ear is still virgin .

  • nice list but i would have put randy rhoads instead of malmsteen

  • I dont know if someone shares my opinion, but I prefer Ana Vidovic´s version of Asturias than Segovia´s, just my opinion P.S. amazing list

  • @maurizs97music

Ana Vidovic, has played the most amazing version of "Capricho Arabe" I ever heard

  • awesome list, I´d just add some pat metheny, tommy emmanuel, and allan holdsworth ("devil take the hindmost" solo is the best thing ever (stairway to heaven solo can suck it) come on hate me, haters :) ok just kidding, it´s all good with jimmy, but i think allan deserves more recognition).

  • I think this list need to just Paco-Malmsten and Al Dimeola

  • Paco!

  • very good... first list that i see not only metal guitarrist... it was good the mix of jazz, flamenco and bossa players... I would like to add two guitarrist, if you havent listened them yet, you should...

    +Pat Metheny

    +Toquinho

those two and paco de lucia are in my opinion, the best...

  • Paco the best!!

  • Good list. Not compairing greatness. Don't know if these guitarists should be on this list, but here are some I like.

Check out Brad Paisley and especially his CD "Play". I know because of his commercial success people don't think of him as a guitarist, but the man has serious chops, and writes good lyrics to boot. Talk about vituostic talent.

Anouther I like is Joe Bannamassa and his live CD "Live From Nowhere In Particular" rocks

Check out Don Ross and Andy Mcghee.

  • Todos juntos forman la mitad de Paco de Lucia, y no es una operación matemática, simplemente Paco es alguien fuera de lo común.

  • @ RomieCharlie

Yeah Joe Pass and Larry Carlton are musts for a top ten.

  • Replace Les Paul with Larry Carlton and Tal Farlow with Joe Pass (even Barney Kessel) and you'd be closer. Paco in my opinion smokes any guitarist of any genre.

  • sorry, but you can't compar paco de lucia with any of those guitarists,

  • You should not mix'em all up..classical , acoustic and electrical .Beside I totally agree with the top comment ,all are amateurs for paco you should've put him as number one (my opinion)

  • Yngwie's just am master of his guitar !! I love his style and I know many people say he just play's the same thing over and over again, and maybe it's true but I just can't stop listening to his songs !! And his best period when he was young, he was just perfect ! I love his music till first time I've heard about it, And I think he deserves to be in this list, at least he invent something that to me never gets boring

    keep rock'n

  • Charlie christian :)

  • Yngwie has mastered one thing and one thing only...arpeggios...that's it...he can shred so fast and so perfect but he's overlooked 9/10ths of what guitar is about...Limiting yourself to one style...very stale...yes he's better than I'll ever be but there are so many more guitarists that deserve to be on this list instead of him....

  • its a good list.but the only problem its that U CANT CALL AN ELECTRIC GUITAR,A GUITAR. sorry

  • I'm glad Paco was included! Such an overlooked, but incredible guitarist.

  • Good variety. Thanks for putting Wes in there. Tommy Emmanuel? Joe Pass maybe?

  • Paco de Lucia is the best guitarist

  • I appreciate the positive comments, this list is far from a be all end all. There are so many great guitarists out living and dead that listing them all would be a full time job. I try to be as unbiased as I can, but I havent heard every guitarist...yet.. I have my reasons for leaving out Jimi, and I agree Malmsteen is a dick(of epic proportions), but personality (or lack thereof) wasn't a criteria. Thanks for the suggestions I will definitely chack them out.

  • @romeocharliedelta What "reasons" do you have for leaving out the Hendrix?

  • @martinryan69 Maybe because Hendrix is a poser noise-maker bitch compared to guitar players like Paco de Lucia?

  • @Ugallardo Hendrix could play, there isn't any doubt. Greats such as B.B. King and Buddy Guy praise his skills. No need to be such an asshole. Hendrix is fine, most people who say he is over rated are the people who think they are cool enough to go against mainstream simply to go against it.

  • @guitarzilla100 It was just my opinion in the end, no need to take it that seriously. It is just that Hendrix music is horrible, it hurts my ears(again, my opinion). But when I listen to Oracion by Manolo Sanlucar or La cueva del gato by Paco de Lucia...well...it's impossible to describe with words. Give that songs a try and tell me what do you think.

  • @Ugallardo I know and love Paco de Lucia. I'll check out that other song at some point. Listen to Red House, one of Hendrix's more popular tunes. Or Little Wing. If it isn't your style, that is fine. But don't say it is terrible. Hendrix is one of the most influential musicians of all time. That is that. It's not like he is the greatest but he is pretty damn good.

  • @guitarzilla100 For some reason I dont like him. I like Little Wing SRV version though. It's one of my favourite songs :P

  • @romeocharliedelta Thanks for the list, you choose great players from different genres, and you remember the father of all of them: Andrés Segovia (1893-1987).

  • Does anybody know Ollie Halsall? This is a real underrated one, in my opinion.

  • How about Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, Eric Johnson, Pat Metheny, Walter Brecker, Russ Freeman..there is a whole genre that is left out. There is no way in hell you can pick a hundred let alone ten. There is no best only incredible talent that enriches all of our lives. Enjoy.

  • Falto Becker!!!

  • muy buena seleccion...=)

  • yngwiener is a dick

  • this is great, one of the most objective lists ive seen

  • Interesting list but far to much credit for speed.

  • I agree this list because I really like the fact that it's 10 of the greatest and not one of these stupid, The 10 greatest. I also like the fact that guitarists from other genres than rock are on the list. Although the last 2 guitarists I really don't like at all.

  • @juscurious Surprisingly 'the list of the 100 best guitarists in history' includes only rock performers. Then it should have been called 'the list of the 100 best rock guitarists'. For me Paco de Lucia is number one in the world in all the genres, but I doubt he has ever been included in any 'best in the world' lists, in which mostly American and British guitarists tend to be represented .

  • Rory Gallagher????.........

  • Wes owns our asses

  • where is jimi hendrix?¿??

  • @aaronlokotron Heaven

  • They all seem kind of amateur when compared to Paco de Lucia! :)

  • @testestest13 well said

  • @testestest13 >.> django reindhart played with only 2 fingers the fck?

  • I know it's subjective and there is too many to chose from, but u gotta have tommy emmanuel up there mate...

  • @macgot agreed completely! :)

  • Go to 5:40. There´s the BEST guitarist ever!

  • excelent chosen list! but i should entitle your post "top 10 greatest guitarist ever" and place them in a certain order gest to gather more views;)

  • It's nice to see fusion, Flamenco, and Classical players on someone's list. Fingerstyle are the best. It is far more difficult than using a pick.

  • where is angus??

  • correct

  • Wow ! Andres......uh I forget his name already .....is amazing. About number 7?Oh hell , the whole list is fantastic. With my Joe and PG in it !!! Thanks for your list.

  • Wow ! Andres......uh I forget his name already .....is amazing. About number 7?

  • good list.

  • i think you really know about music, and what i appreciate the most is that you don't discriminate whether classical, jazz or metal guitarrists. however i believe you could have chosen a better performance of segovia, since in the video you chose, i found it boring. i would recommend listening his performance of "fandanguillo", by federico moreno torroba

  • brilliant..

  • I can tell by your list that your either a musician yourself or simply just have an excellent ear... theses are most definitely 10 of the best players of all time, and perhaps some of the top ten as well ;) keep the lists a coming

  • @deadorsleeping Appreciate the comment, would never call myself a musician, only wish I could play a 10th as good as any of these guys. Posted 10 more shouldn't disappoint.

  • @romeocharliedelta here's another ten! Alex Lifeson, Al Di Meola, Stanley Jordan, Allan Holdsworth, Tony Iommi, Dave Miniketti, Pat Methany, Andy Summers, The Edge, Rory Gallagher....

  • @BobMcboyle What about John McLaughlin?

  • @philgrey0207 Not so far, but I haven't heard so much, can you recommend a song?

  • @BobMcboyle the edge? lets go man
