  • lol I wonder if they scripted to never mention infernal affairs. The whole plot and even some of dialogue were exactly the same.

  • Matt Damons Charactar is a 2 faced prick who has no shame and continues to show no shame even after being caught. Unfortunately, the world is filled with a--holes like this. This movie gives a perfect mockery of the bad guys.

  • Excellent movie, superb cast, wonderful writing.

If you don't like it, go fuck yourself. That's that.

  • @hisdudenessxiv yeah, what...that person said...*thumbs ups comment*

  • Internal Affairs (The Hong Kong version), sucked. Now Internal AFfairs with Richard Gere and Anthony Garcia was good.

  • @GuardianAngel5150 infernal affairs

  • I don't understand what the problem is. They could remake the greatest movie of all time whatever, in your opinion, it may be. If its a good movie, then who fucking cares? The departed was awsome, and I enjoyed it. Thats all that matters to me.

  • damn this movie was the shit, being only 16 teen when it came out i was blown away i was paying close attention to what the characters were doing and saying. It was pretty smart for a gangster movie.

  • Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe fuck yourself.

  • The people going on-and-on about the Hong Kong version crack me up. Who the hell cares?! I have no interest whatsoever in seeing the "original". Especially if it has a bunch of Chinese faces I don't recognize and subtitles. You can keep your Infernal Affairs and we'll keep our Departed. There's something for everybody.

  • @pazzmatt I know, right? You'd think that Scorsese was the first director ever to film a remake. smh.

  • "How's your mother?"

    "She's on her way out"

    "We all are, act accordingly"

  • Loved this movie! Matt and Leo and Mark in one movie...what more could a girl want!

  • I don't understand the quote in the beginning, please help, thanks!!!

  • I love this movie!

Leo is so god damn hot in it too!

  • marty, a director of the people without one sensationalist or cheap note.

just saw Boxcar Bertha for the first time. he had to work with corman who must have driven him insane about budget, but marty managed to make a beautiful movie that's still relevant today.

  • your all a bunch of wankers

  • why is everyone talking about Ireland, Germany, and Poland? the thing that really matters is that this is a great movie, phenominal actually

  • rawr i hate germany aghhh poland is gay warghhh metal gear

  • SNAKE...SNAKE!!!

  • so what about the people who are both polish and irish?

  • i'm both...25% Irish and 75% Polish...i'm just tired of all this Irish love..like they have gone through so much as a people and an unjustified sense of pride. Poland endured way more than anybody, yet, people simply disregard them as stupid and backwards

  • Jesus Christ, this is a movie trailer, when did we all get so fucking racist

  • @PUMKINOFDEATH "That's what the niggas don't realize, if I got one thing against the black chappies it's this, no one gives it to ya, you gotta take it."

  • @PUMKINOFDEATH That's what the niggas don't realize, if i got one thing against the black chappies it's this, no one give it to you, you gotta take it.

  • @PUMKINOFDEATH nigger

  • Scorsese could've look at the chinese title of Infernal Affairs, Wu Jian Dao; it means a place of continuous suffering, which relates to the ultimate theme of the movie. A sort of unending road. And so Martin Scorsese will live cursed by the fact of making such a poor remake, only copying the script and forgetting the main theme, only adding his typical racist view of the world and the awesome acting from Matt Damon XD.

  • Polish > Irish Easily

  • Are we talking sausage? 'Cause sausage is about the only thing I know of where Polish > Irish.

  • its partly due to over half of the Polish intelligence (professors and army officers) and professional class being systematically murdered by the Nazis and Soviets.

  • Did you know that Irish monks discovered the cure for cancer many hundreds of years ago?

    Yeah.

They traveled to a church conclave in Rome to present their findings... but unfortunately the German monks were up before them and introduced beer.

No one ever did find out what the Irish did with that cure... but they sure liked the German's invention.

  • that is exactly the problem..ignorance

  • Yes. Humor is the problem. Moron.

  • irish were neutral pussies during WW2. They have NOTHING to be proud of

  • not killing eachother is something to NOT be proud of? K, retard.

  • agreed...

  • Look at the history of England and Ireland and then ask yourself whether you would join your enemy (England) to fight someone neutral (Germany).

    You fucking tool.

  • what do you mean? you are implying that Germany was neutral? They were slaughtering millions of innocent people and were trying to take over Europe.

Admittaly, I don't know much of the dispute between England and Ireland, but the English also have a history of beein imperialistic and domineering @ssholes.

The Polish by comparison were caught in between the Nazi's and the Soviet Union. They never surrendered after being defeated and occupied by both superpowers.

  • The slaughter of innocents wasn't discovered until Germany lost the war... and they were the enemies of England. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

There were Irish on both side of the conflict. Thousands of Irishmen joined the British army... and there was an entire squadron in the German Luftwaffe made up of Irish pilots.

It was not an easy war for Ireland... but for you to imply the Irish were pussies shows your ignorance. Fighting 'too rarely' has never been an Irish problem.

  • can't deny the fact that there were Irish Nazi sympathizers that wanted the destruction of England. Can't deny it.

  • "There were Irish on both side of the conflict."

"there was an entire squadron in the German Luftwaffe made up of Irish pilots."

    Didn't.

    You're a little slow, huh?

  • @saabturbografx you should keep yor comments to yourself . you live in the states . you didnt grow up in Ireland or Poland , and an unjustified sense of pride say that to an irish person who has grown up in ireland and see what kinda response you get. and i work with polish people and i wouldn regard them as stupid or backward thats mainly an american thing. and where did you get your information about the irish in the luftwaffe

  • wats the song at 0:45-1:13?

  • When the guy states these quotes "something new something different something original" at 3:17-3:22. HE'S being IGNORANT!!! The movie is a remake of an even better film which is called Infernal Affairs(a hong kong movie).

Now the departed was good no doubt about that but it wasn't as good as the original and it's not original. Personally I think Martin Scorsese should've won an Oscar for raging bull or goodfellas. And for this movie give an oscar to nicholson but not give it best picture

  • @92Laguna *sigh* You do realize that everybody (including them) knows that already? If you knew anything about Hong Kong Action Cinema, you'd know how much of a hero Scorsese has been to many of their film makers. Consider 'The Departed" as paying homage to their paying homage. Calm down fanboys.

  • @92Laguna a remake can be better than the original, i'm getting a little tired of having to point that out to people all the time. it was something new in american film, its got its own feel because of the different setting and the main reason for adding that to the trailer i think is because scorseses made a number of films about organized crime and they just wanted to clarify that it's different from goodfellas, or casino. let's keep it civilized by the way, just in case you're one of those...

  • well then im a dum-dum

  • lol dum dum

  • i spent half of my life in asia and half here in the states. when i see the film from an asian perspective, i liked the original better. when i see this as an american, this version better. let's put it that way.

  • is* better, sorry missed a word there.

  • infernal affairs better than the departed

  • @4485lolo you know it's pretty silly to just say infernal affairs is better than the departed and not add any arguments. just like the oscars are pretty silly handing out their little awards for no particular reason, but that's beside the point. scorsese's been around for a while and his knowledge of film is a plus so if we're gonna do this check list style, the departed gets points for direction. the story is quite similar, but unlike other people who say the chick was just a whore, i think her

  • @4485lolo i think her relationship with both characters added drama and identity crisis that is not unlike the one experienced by the other characters. tough call, but the sript for the departed was better, even if the guys at hong hong came up with the original concept. then there's the acting, which is equaly impressie so i would call it a tie but if i was pushed i might go with infernal affairs. based on what i just told you, i have the right to say the departed is better. if you can reply

  • @inrwizards

I normally apply to people who are polite and yes I will apply to you, I like the psychological atmosphere better in the original. Although Departed isn't all that bad I much prefer the original.

  • one of the best movies ever made.

  • one of my favourites !

  • Fuckin awesome movie.

Only thing I found too bad was Costigan should have given the tapes that revealed Sullivan was Costello's informant to Dignam and NOT the pshyciatric shrink. That way Dignam takes Sullivan out secretly or busts him but yeah then again there would be no movie.

  • But Dignam shot him anyway, so what difference would it have made? At least the bird knew the truth, sneaky snake BF! But yeah man, awesome movie!!

  • Well the difference was that had Costigan given Dignam the tapes, Dignam could have finished Sullivan off beforehand or make the arrest and thus Costigan doesnt get killed.

  • Oh yeah I see what you mean! So then Costigan would have survived. Yeah dude, I was sad that he got killed too, but it was a more shocking/memorable ending. At least Dignum "go fuck yourself" survived. Ledge!

  • i havent seen the original, so im not gonna pretend to compare them, but this is definately a worthy remake for the american audience...

  • is a really nice movie !!!!! leonardo dicaprio is so nice in it !! xD

  • thats the copy of the hongkong move infernal affairs...........

  • reli so proud for that~an oscar movie which original is from hongkong~

  • comfortably numb-pink floyd rocks

  • the best fucking movie that i never seen, really all in that movie its incredible, the lines the actors all a clasic movie to the history.

  • THIS IS THE WORLD'S GREATEST MOVIE!

  • fuking copy much?

  • the best movie off all times its amazing.

  • the movie was as interesting as i`ve ever seen

  • Matt damon's soooo hot in this!

  • awesome movie!!

  • I enjoyed it... its not as good as the Hong Kong version but for an america remake, it wasn't bad :)... But it did'nt have edison chen in it lol

  • i did not like the look of this movie, see the hong kong one,it was exceptional bcoz it had doyle as the visual consultant who is the best cinematographer in the world of cinema.notice the icy blues and the cool green nitrogen colors.departed does not deserve any credit bcoz it is a remake of a gem.the oscars as we know r so partial n lobbied n martin won it as a lifetime achievement award.losssssssser

  • lol except that the corruption in boston makes more sense to be filmed in boston dont you think fag

  • @iclude that's just being cyinical. the cinematography is one element, but that doesn't break or make a film at all. scorsese got award for directing this from people he had already recieved awards from, so do your research before turning the oscars into your only resource. scorseses an artist whos made more masterpieces than any director out there and for some nobody on youtube to be saying hes a loser is a little sad (go ahead now tell me youre steven spielberg)

  • @inrwizards Yes that's very true. A remake can be better than the original. However, this is not the case. The original was still much better than this film. In fact I didn't like The Departed that much all the cussing and stuff wasn't all that great. At times it also seems as if some people were trying too hard to be bad ass instead of being a natural at it.

  • @inrwizards I'd also like to make a sidenote that I actually am American and lived in America all my life. So I'm not some raging Chinese Infernal Affairs fan saying any remake to the classic is bad. As a matter of fact I saw The Departed first and was actually disappointed. I only saw it cause it won best picture but I wasn't expecting it to turn out the way it did. Infernal Affairs is clearly a superior film with characters that you care about more and without all the unnecessary cussing.

  • @92Laguna i cared about the characters in the departed but i supposse in the end its just a matter of taste. characters in boston crime movies curse more and the whole thing feels grittier than in Hong Kong but hey, i like both movies so im glad we got both

  • I love how the producer of the film is saying scorsese is turning this into something new and original...hahahahahaha to bad it's a complete rip off and the changes he made to it were terrible...Infernal Affairs is a million times better than the departed...Chinese film is much better than american is anyways.

  • ONE OF MY ALL TIME MY FAVORITE MOVIES!

  • the chinese version was way better cuz scorses cut the most important scenes out

  • i saw both versions :D

  • @masterkayaki first of all specify which scenes and also keep in mind that it's not really what you put in a film but how you put it and the film had a lot of energy to it. i still don't get why we cant just accept both films anyway

  • Is it just me, or do leonardo dicaprio, wahlberg, and damon almost all look the same in this movie

  • best crime movie ever- this blows even the godfather out of the water.

  • this looks really good.

  • Love this movie!!

  • leo look so good leo bless with good looks

  • chill out its a fucking movie

  • Because everyone knows that a nice, shiny city a gangster movie makes. Goodfellas was just as much of a comedy as The Departed, next time stop trying to impress people and watch the damn movie. "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" was a 'gangsta' movie. Also, shit.

  • fillsbury boston is THE HUB and you need to go fuck yourself you ray liotta lovin motherfucker

  • alright this was a complete joke. my brother posted this comment when i was wasn't with him haha. sorry.

  • Mean Steets was about the fringe players and a few soldiers. Goodfellas was all about inside as a soldier -- drug deals/violence/ prison, etc. Casino showed the top of the inside of the legal side of business. The Departed reveals how the top dog struggles to surivie a dual police house and a gang house cleaning. Shine a Light promises to be the most extragant gangster film Scorsese's ever made. Mick as gang leader. Kieth running a drug pipeline that the Calis build themselves on.

  • These is remake of asian movie Infernal affairs !! he stole or bought the story

  • if u don't like it fillsbury then DON'T WATCH IT. stop tellin people what they can or can't like

  • why do this reminds me of infernal affairs

is this simmilar to that movie?

  • It's a remake. Which one is better is a manner of differing opinions anyone who says otherwise is an idiot. The quality of both films is top notch. IA2 is my favorite in the Infernal Affairs trilogy, it reminded me a lot of all three Godfather films which to some is bad, but me, I loved it.

  • infernal affairs the chinese film are we talking about the same thing? lol

  • Uh... yes.

  • mark wahlberg rocks!

  • yo manm he is right the departed movie is good so shut up and get a good taste in movies and WOOT GO PATRIOTS!!

  • screw you asshole! come to the middle of southie and say that out loud you coward. you'll get ya little pretty boy face smashed in. BOSTON IS THE FUCKIN SHIT!! THE DEPARTED ROCKS, AND SO DO THE DROPKICK MURPHY'S ARE FUCKIN PISSAH! FUCK YOU! lol. ALSO THE RED SOX PATRIOTS AND CELTICS FUCKIN RULE!

  • fuck tha pats nyg

  • Marty you're freaking brillant

  • The best

  • Thrustmister - you said it man, well done. I love this movie, and boston, I got myself a tattoo of the handgun with the city of boston on the top, along with The departed writting just like on the trailer. i also have on my lower back. "Heaven Holds For The Faithful Departed" with all the innitials of everyone who has passed away thats ment somthing to me.

  • dude this movie rocks! Who doesn't love boston and DO NOT DISS THE DROPKICK MURPHYS

  • yea, i guess i'll admit it to the public. i do sort of look like old martin. (had to call him that to feel better about myself).

  • Excellent no doubt, even De caprio is good in this film but Nicholson and Walhberg steal the film.

BUt emotional wise "Infernal Affairs" is a superior film.

  • cool man, put in "the top 10 greatest movies ever made" - title of video.

  • Don't get me wrong,I still like Infernal affairs much more than The Departed. And Old Boy was a Korean film, sorry.

  • But you guys shouldn't complaing about that Hollywood is copying since they bought the right to remake the Asia Films, for example "The Eye","The grudge","The ring","Infernal Affairs" and they're about to remake The HK film "Confession of pain" and "Old Boy".Take a look at the Hindi film calls Zinda, they have copied Old Boy,but didn't even buy the right to do it and they're under investigation for copyright.

  • I just want to know what movie TD is copying? What other movie was set in Southie, loosly based on the Winter Hill Gang, led by Whitey Bulger?

  • What's the song at the beginning of this BTS vid? TD is my favorite film up to date..

  • Hollywood is running out of its own materials. They went oversea for this. China used to copy hollywood. Now, it's other way.

  • I don't quite understand what you're refering to. Are you saying the theme for the movie is a rip off?

  • watch the original version " infernal affairs". It's like Coke and Pepsi. Coke.

  • Didnt Infernal Affiars inspire this?So why the hell hollywood copy all of it?!?!?!Danm those mothafuckers! They stole an original and claimed it thier own.Thats a lawsuit!

  • It's called a remake, needledick. Do your fucking research.

  • "remake" "copy" "plagiarism" Hollywood is going oversea.

  • Graham king said the word "original"... 3:21

  • So stupid... You idiot you fool!!! Crap.

  • fuckin' idiot, fuck off with your stupid crap

  • I love you Marty S.! You're the greatest and don't you forget it!

  • this isnt something new as they said, its a modified version of the hong kong version, done better, i hope.

  • If you want to see the first 10 minutes of this movie, then type in "The Departed:First 10 minutes", it is an awesome begining for a mafia movie.

  • this movie is not awful ,zarbon700 lets said zarbon700 is a actore how would you like it? if someone said you were awful I hate it because your movie suck that would hurt you like hell. leo work hard to please people leo is a damn good actor. you think acting is a piece of cake well it's not i like to see you act learn 350 pages and then act it out you think acting is easyee your wrong some people get kill are hurt it look easy from where your sitting

  • hey leo baby :0D

  • Infernal affairs sucked compared to this, Infernal affairs had no action.

  • Um... IA was done Psychologically and spirtually. That was the intent of the directors. Get that right. It was never meant to be an action flick. If you are just into action, that means you love dumb movies.

  • In case anybody is interested , it was Brad Pitt first saw the original Hong Kong Version of the Departed, and Brad Pitt used his own money ($1.6 million US) bought the copy right from the Hong Kong guys and later sold it to other hollywood producer.

Brad Pitt was thinking of playing the role of Matt Damon in the story but later he has other commitment.

The original Hong kong version ,the Seocnd part was the Best.

  • This movie is copy from Hong Kong movie!

  • The movie is completely copy from Chinese movie!!!! China have this movie long time ago! America just copy everything!

First, I watch the departed (america), I think this movie is really really good!! But then I found out that the same movie from china just different actors and it been produced for years before the departed (america). So I watch the chinese movie, it is better, look more professional! If you dont believe me, try it! The actor of chinese movie is Tony Leng!

  • This is one gud muvi and i luv dicaprio

  • This movie is awful. The orginial Hong Kong film "Infernal Affairs" is 10 times better. The story of the American version is compeletly different and it totally sucks. Don't waste your time with this movie. See the Hong Kong version.

If you think "The Departed" is great, wait until you see "Infernal Affairs". I highly recommend that you watch "Infernal Affairs 1 & 2" instead of "The Departed".

  • How about you let other people have different opinions than you. Believe it or not, there are people out there who've seen Infernal Affairs, and still liked The Departed better. Also, this movie is far from awful.

  • i watched infernal affairs and i think the departed is much better

  • A good film but compared to casino and goodfellas it doesnt come close imo

  • Best movie I've seen.<3 Love it!!

  • The name of the song used in the trailer and in the 45 second mark here is "Gimme Shelter" by the Rolling Stones. Scorses used it in both Goodfellas and Casino as well. For the record, I am an Infernal Affairs fan but the casual movie goer could care less if this is a remake. What idea in Hollywood is original these days? Both stand alone as testaments to the brilliance of their respective directors.

  • what is the name of the song that starts at 0:45 when leonardo starts speaking? tnx

  • Scorsese did give credit to the hk origins of the film when he mentioned it in his academy award speech. I watched Infernal Affairs but haven't seen this yet. I wonder if scorsese might consider redoing the I.A. sequels too? Though i heard the sequels weren't as good as the first.

  • I'm sick of people comparing this to Infernal Affairs!

  • Don't think for a second that Japanese filmmakers Wai Keung Lau and Siu Fai Mak weren't inspired/influenced by Scorsese in some way before they made their film. Scorsese did-in fact-redefine this genre; he is the father of its modern identity. 'Mou gaan dou' (Internal Affairs) would not have been the film it was in the absence of the Scorsese films that preceded it.

  • Uh, I think the two filmmakers are from Hong Kong. Also, to some other ppl, the copyright of Internal Affairs is bought by Hollywood so that may explain why the two films are alike but I totally would not say they're identical. People are saying this 'copying' is bad but HK film industry gets to make some big bucks out of this!

  • Not identical except the arm bandage, boss thrown from rooftop, car crash, "If someone pretends they aren't looking at you they're a cop", end rooftop scene, leather jacket on leo, psychiatrist, watch gift, spelling on envelope. except for that...

  • nice vid...top movie

  • wow there making it sound like martin thought of this movie himself.

its a rip off of infernal affairs.

  • Shut the fuck up about Internal Affairs please.

  • 2006 Best Picture and Best Director

  • Infernal Affairs and The Departed are both good movies but in different ways. What's the song played near the end of the video, not 'i'm shipping up to boston.'

  • comfortably numb by pink floyd or a remake of it...

  • it's Roger Waters and Van Morrison from Roger Waters Berlin Wall Tour 1990

  • ya wats the Irish song in the begining called thats realy good

  • Yo they said its based on a hong kong movie and they just made an american version

  • what's the song used at the very end of this segment?

  • the song called "I'm shipping up to boston" by "the dropkick murphys"

  • sorry wrong comment
