  • OUPS!

  • nobody wants any one to die . but more risk , the more thrill you get .

like a drug mule who almost gets caught numerous times but does it for that rush

or the hiker of mount everest knowing he has a good chance of not making it .

it is the danger that gives us the accomplished feeling ......

  • OOOOOOOOPS!!

  • I don't know why you guys are all argueing about Vettel and Hamilton, as Di Resta is better than both of them :D He just didn't have the luck, and the backing of big sponsors and F1 teams. I'm kidding of course as they are all VERY good drivers, it's just a shame that it wasn't sometimes about how much money you have behind you, than how good you are. And for the people saying Hamilton, Vettel etc only have 1% of mansell/Senna.These drivers are good enough to be World Champs. Can't take that away

  • Those old drivers were irresponsible and careless. F1 was a slaughterhouse back then. Fortunately, safety is higher today.

  • @lotwyo thats what made F1 exciting now its just boring

  • @lotwyo More safety = less entertainment

  • @blainyrules so people dying entertains you does it? asshole

  • @imnotftw Did I say that? No I didn't, So fuck you.

  • @blainyrules yeah you kinda did dipshit. You're saying that you would be more entertained if there was less safety. Cars these days go as fast if not faster than any cars in previous years yet no one has died since 1994. So your statement has no obvious reasoning therefore the only logical reason i can perceive from your statement is that you want people to be less safe for no reason at all.

  • @imnotftw Firstly, if you think no-one's died since 1994, you're wrong. A marshall died in 2001 at Melbourne. Secondly, that's not how it was intended to come across. I wouldn't want anyone in motorsport to die. It just makes it that little bit more exciting when something else happens.

  • @blainyrules that's different i'm talking about the drivers themselves crashing into barriers at 180mph and walking away from it, not marshals being hit by flying debris. That is unfortunate and unavoidable sometimes. Crashing hard happens to every driver at some point in their career and without the safety levels they have every time a driver crashed hard they would die or be injured like they were before the high safety levels (like in the 50s-80s)

  • @lotwyo irresponsible and careless isn't really true, i mean its the same as now. They are racing drivers, they live to go as fast as they can and beat the competition, its also their job, what they get paid for. The drivers go just as quick nowadays but safety (thankfully) keeps them alive. Think of all the huge crashes there has been since 1994.

  • Those of you kidoes arguing if Vettel or Hamilton or Button or whatever bullshit are insulting the respect to this legendary driver. all those drivers you mention don't have 1% of Mansell snd obviously 0% of A. Senna. Just maybe Fernando Alonso got some percentage of them.

  • @ustickjoheadupjoculo Vettel, Hamilton, and Button have all done something Mansell couldn't do. They've all won a WC by beating competition that had a reasonable shot at winning races. Sure LH and JB had the best car, and SV probably did, too, but Mansell's car was so far ahead that he really should have won every race. Any other time he had a shot but faced competition from Prost, Senna, or Piquet, he got beat. And Jackie Stewart calls today a golden age of F1 talent, so it can't be too bad

  • @gturner38

You don't know what you're talking about. Mansell was the better driver between him and Piquet. If he had an ounce of luck like Hamilton and Vettel had at their careers, he would have won the wc in 86, and 87. Hamilton and Vettel haven't suffer any physical injuries,Hamilton won the WC in the last corner of last lap of of last race thanks to Glock so really there is no comparison. And Mansell did beat Senna, and Prost in inferior machine when they had the unbeatable Mclaren in 89.

  • @DimwitsCleanser Mansell may have been the quicker driver, but Piquet won the WC in 87 when they were teammates, in part because Piquet was more consistent. That's even with only their best 11 races counting, so all the mechanical DNFs were eliminated. Mansell's 2 wins in 1989 (as well as Berger's) are comparable to Hamilton and Button beating Vettel this year despite the dominance of the Red Bull. I was a Mansell fan back in the day, but I still think he's a bit overrated by many.

  • @gturner38

    Facts:

Mansell beat Piquet in 86' final results table. Lost the WC only due to a tire blowout.

In 87, Mansell had 6 wins - Piquet 3 wins(and one of his wins was inherited after a dnf by Mansell due to a loose wheel-nut with 7 laps to go). Lost the WC because of the Suzuka crash, missing 2 races.

Mansell's 2 wins in 89' were a lot more hard-earned than today's standards. Won in Hungary(!) on the DRY from 12th no KERS or DNS gimmicks, just pure talent and skill.

    Mansell = underrated.

  • *meant DRS

  • total car control

  • I like how the top rated comment is someone claiming to hate a driver. True motorsport fans at their finest... : /

  • Nigel is my grandfathers cousin, Its so awsome to be related to sombody famous!

  • @Wangtim3 yea he's my grandmas uncle too

  • @kyberforce You serious?

  • Expert Control

  • love JB

  • I was at this corner when he did it. It was impressive.

  • Story of 1990 for Mansell. Gearbox & Engine failures.

  • He did those flames on purpose - you can tell.

  • Recuerdo esa carrera, pero me parece que es Prost, no Mansell

  • SCREEEEEENNCHHHHH!!!

    I miss Mansell these days...

  • Well held Mr Mansell !!!!

  • Only 6 cars of the 26 in phx finished the race. They should bring it back to test the cars now.

  • now thats a Legend

  • now thats car control

  • That was not an engine failure, it was his gearbox. This is why the rear wheels locked. The Ferrari's of 89/90/91 suffered very much with unreliable gearboxes.

  • @aloouk~ a blown engine can also lock the wheels up!..... it was an engine failure..... hence the smoke and then fire out the exhaust!

  • this man controles the car the way he want awsome

  • tht is great car control

  • bestemmie di ghisa

  • ONLY Hamilton could do it despite Alonso doing something extremely similar on the warm up lap for the Nurburgring GP THIS SEASON...

  • damn, nice save!

  • Mansell was much more talented than Hamilton, no doubt on this...

  • Hamilton is still very young. A lot of People just hate him for whatever reason. Mansell was good but also a drama queen...

  • @tasha613560161

how can u hate lewis? he's the only one in f1 who knows how to overtake

  • @flipsidedogchop He's the most fun to watch but didn't you see JB in Brazil 09?

  • @tasha613560161 I hate people who spread the hate in topics not concerning their favorite subject.

  • what are you on about

'ONLY' lewis hamilton could pull something like that..

There are other drivers just as good as hamilton in f1 y'know..

  • @OllieRetroSound Hamilton is bloody good though, I would never say that he was the only one to be able to do something like this though. Last race the commentators commented on how Hamilton gets something out of a car that others can't, quote 'similarly to Schumacher, and Alongso on certain occasions'. By that I would say that they agree that he's the best driver on the F1 circuit at the moment.

  • @jjinthefridge lmao those commentators are stupid just like cuz they didnt say the name senna u idiot now lewis is like any other driver u think his good cuz u never seen him drive for a bad team .... but if u take vettle he was toro rosso and he won monza and lewis came 2nd now tell me that isnt talent cuz it is.... and vettle is the best driver on the circuit at the moment not lewis

  • @keytek9 Well look at the 2009 season Button beat Vettel in the Championship and they were in the same car and then in 2010 Button was in the same car as Hamilton and Hamilton finished ahead. Well thinking logically Hamilton has proved that he's better someone who could be said to be better that Vettel. tbh I don't care, as a Mclaren fan I'm always going to say that Vettel had the faster car in 2010 (which he did) and is a worse driver (which he is). Why did you bring up anything about vettel?

  • @jjinthefridge i just did i said that vettle won is a toro rosso and pllsss dont say he was on the wrong tire (which he wasent) and his younger that lewis and his a champion pluusssss if vettle had the best car how could he be worse that lewis ??? and dont say mclaren didnt have a bad car.if u gonna bring the point were u say vettle had a better car than lewis then again i am going to say he wont in a torro rosso

  • @jjinthefridge Button and Vettel in the same team? When did that happen? In a dream maybe?

  • @ordnas1234 Dammit if only this was a Webber vs Hamilton arguement. my bad, we had to agree to disagree anyway, it just makes my point utterly irrelevant.

  • @keytek9 Also Hamilton came 7th that race, not that that makes my cause any better. And Hamilton qualified 15th that race because the team put him out on the wrong tyres so I imagine he could have done better.

  • @OllieRetroSound HAMILTON CAN GO BACK TO 5TH GRADE -_-

  • Not normally a nigel fan but WOW he wasn't driving a car that day he strapped one on.

  • I would like to respond to my comment a month ago that starts "Not normally a nigel fan..." by saying that I am now definitely a fan.

  • wow , he got back to the exact same spot after the engine blown.

  • show off....but yes he's got great driving skills.

  • He must not hurt and thats good :)

Good driving skills he didn't lost the control of the car !!!

    Nice !!!

  • turbo :D

  • aspirated V12. ;-) last year for turbo was 1988

  • That recovery was mint

  • It's all bout BRAWN GP now

  • What? I think you mean RED BULL. Hehehe. ;-)

  • wait till we get to the warmer courses :p

im sure we will get back our pace ^^

hungary is next lol, hopefully that should be warm :o

  • Look at that controll that he keeps at his car......incredible!

  • Ferrari's car were nowhere near the good car they are today both prost and mansell were out of the race mansell because of this and prost because of a gearbox oil leak if I remember well

  • the cause was a broken flywheel.

  • Miss you Lion...

  • ummm did he just get that car back under control or was that pure luck?

  • a bit of luck and a lot of experience

  • He did a similar thing when his tyre blew out in 1986. Mansell had exceptional car control

  • well said..."exceptional car control"....seriously that was a good control....

  • what is f1 doing in phoenix?. I also heard they once raced at detroit wtf!? .

  • That's the problem with you newbies. You didn't even see any of the races back then, but you judge regardless.

  • huh?. I'm just saying indianapolis is a better track instead of racing in the streets of detroit or phoenix. america doesn't even have an f1 race at the moment anyway so who cares.

  • Thanks for proving my point. Learn your history about the sport and come back at me.....k

  • what?? what would you want me to learn? I know lots already X^P .I'll tell you some history f1 racing in detroit or phoenix, thats history X^P .

  • you do know they have raced at indy right? id guess you would know. thats what he mean by thanks for proving my point.

  • yep I said that in one of my comments too. I still am not following. I was just cracking a joke. I said f1 racing in america is history, I have nothing against the u.s.a though.

  • guess i didnt read it. no disrespect between race fans :P

  • This was a great track. Primitive but great. Great racing....Prost made, what I consider, the best overtake I have ever seen here at Phoenix.

  • I guess that's what the other bloke was tryin to say to me.I'm sure it was a great track. I was cracking a little humor but nobody see's it that way lol.

  • the two cars right?. He overtook two cars in one go? :P

  • Yep. Thats the one, awsome because he was only trying to overtake one car and then stuff happened and he had to overtake either both of them or none...or crash...one of the best overtakes ever.

  • le pouf !

  • LOL funny coomentary. :)

  • heart-stopping moment,nice comment by James Hunt

  • well it is italian what woud you expect

  • ferrari xD

  • lol...you got into the top 5 of the most stupid people on youtube

  • Wow.Looks like 500 mph nitro.

  • At 05,00 he leaves the brake pedal...

    Great move.

  • you havent any idea.

  • to reseto - so,glad to read about yours!

  • ok i didnt knew that youre nigell manselll excuse me.

  • to reseto - hello michael,are you ok ?

  • Stop being a fuck head reseto, he did let go of the brakes. What, your lenses can't get any thicker?

  • you are very stupid, you drive a Ferrari 641 every days sure.

You should be in the F1 (of the dumb.)

  • He he, this is going to hurt you but when was the last time you got laid? Or have you had any at all?

BTW you don't have to answer these question as i am ending my conversation with you.

  • OK Nigel Mansell

  • This was actually a clutch failure. His clutch shattered, the debris punched a hole in the sump and spayed oil all over the place and then his engine seized. Thats why he spun off like that. Plus he spun because oil got onto his rear tyres...

  • porco zio mansell che mi combini asd.

  • That would have given him flashbacks to Adleaide in 86 with the blown tyre in the straight. Great car control to keep it off the wall both times.

  • And people don't think of F1 drivers as athletes. I'd love to see an "athlete" do what they do.

  • wow nice boomerang move :D

  • Who was it that said 'Mansell would never win a grand prix as long as i have a hole in my arse?'

Well, he mustn't have seen this amazing exhibition of car control.

  • He was so cool and calm when under pressure. tremendous courage, and nerves of steel.

  • Damn incredible how he got out of it with that sort of speed leading into it.

  • The man who said that about Mansell was Peter Warr, his Lotus team manager in '83 and '84. And Nigel proved him wrong... 31 times.

And this incident, despite looking like an engine explosion, was actually a seized clutch (which locked the back wheels and caused the half-spin) and an oil fire.

  • Mate, you know your stuff! Thanks for that. Mansell made a habit of proving people wrong. Nelson Piquet once called him a stupid blockhead or something similar. Which was a bit confusing, coz apparently Mansell was a rocket engineer b4 F1. I was a Prost fan, but i loved Mansell's boom or bust approach. He'd take Prost or Senna then crash after holding a good lead. However with time, he learnt to control his aggression while still displaying the sort spectacular skill in this link.

  • Ah sorry, didn't see the reply from a week ago ;)

  • That would be Peter Warr, who obviously didn't have much faith in Mansell! Took over the Lotus team after Chapman died.

31 wins later, he has been proved wrong spectacularly.

Phoenix 1990 is a poor example though, because Peter Warr was speaking in the mid 1980s when Mansell was at Lotus, but still a famous "whoops" comment.

  • Great car control !!!!

  • Excelent recovery though, getting it back pointing in the right direction after that!

  • Mr. drama overhere, lol

  • Contrary to the title, this incident happened in 1990 while Nigel Mansell was with Ferrari. He drove for Williams in 1991
