I think the whole point of Yamcha in DBZ was just to show off how powerful the alien characters were. He was my favourite character in DB but he became abit useless in DBZ, although that was probably the whole reason he was my favourite. Routing for the under-dog. I think it would of made the show alot better if Krillin, Yamcha, Tien and even Chaiotzu were shown to be alot more powerful and alot more closer to Goku's level. I'm surprised he wasn't cut earlier, but im glad he wasn't
To be honest, Yamcha was never useful or badass, even in Dragonball. He did nothing against Pilaf, Red Ribbon Army, or Piccolo Daimo, and lost in the first round IN EVERY TENKAICHI BUDOKAI! Also, he lost his girlfriend to a bloodthirsty monster. Not to mention, HE DIED TO A FUCKING SAIBAMEN! The point being, Yamcha was never cool
Many positive as well. Some good points are; Yamcha helped Goku fight Monster Carrot and Rabbit Mob, when Goku transformed into great ape for (first time) Yamcha/puar stopped Goku by cutting his tail off (saving bulma), Fortuneteller Baba Saga he beat the invisible man, he fought bandages even though he knew he'd loose. Yamcha always lost in the quarter-finals against opponents far stronger. Saibaman was a cheap shot, as it could of happened to Tien. Matter of opinion really.
@JakeJonRoberts Yamcha was always cool. Never got a break, never got handout powers like Krillin but he always managed to stay on the level. Yamcha only ever backed down once in the whole series and wound up fighting anyway. Yamcha added real humanity to dragonball, the Saiyans were alien monsters as were Piccolo, Dende and Kami. Chaiotzu was an ugly flying doll, Tien had three eyes and Krillin was a bald headed gnome. Freaks the lot of em.
@JakeJonRoberts In the tournaments, always have to fight with the strongest opponent. First, Jackie Chun. Only Goku had a chance. Second, Tien. He did a really good job, but Tien had three eyes, what makes impossible to win. And third, against Kami, Earth's God. I think only Goku and Tien could have defeated him. But at least, he hit him with his Spirit Ball. That's good.
That Saibaman could have killed everyone, not only Yamcha.
@ImmaBallToucher It is hard to believe that he was a Major Character back in Dragonball to early Dragonball Z in the mid 1980's to early 1990's. Then became a minor one through out Dragonball Z and was shown once or twice in Dragonball GT, that happens sometimes where a character who is major becomes minor or a minor one becomes major if that character is losing or becoming popular.
@stainshield in the show Goku's greatest moral is that even though he is way stronger then everyone else, he views everyone else as equal in value to him. the fans that rip on these old characters don't notice that.

Yamcha would never be close to having potential like that. On the other hand, just because yamcha underwent king kai's training doesn't necessarily mean he's stronger. Yamcha doesn't have any hidden reserves to tap into, he just has to train like tien, while krillin could tap into his power, so if krillin keeos training, he could tap into

DBZ is the sequal to DB. Dragon Ball started in 1986 and Dragon Ball Z started in 1989, but Dragon Ball Z was shown on TV in America before Dragon Ball. I think thats y ur so confused. So no, DB was not made during the middle of DBZ. The dragonball series is not an American show. It strated in Japan.

Hehe. Yeah, that's only because Akira used him in a wrong way. Yamcha has the coolest attacks ever, in my opinion, and is my favorite character so far. I keep dreaming on him having a badass training together with the other humans just to be able to deffend the earth at the same level of the Sayajins.

Def underrated. I was hoping for more out of Tien and Yamcha for DBZ since Tien was the toughest challenge for Goku and Yamcha was always treated as one of the best by Goku and Krillin and he usually does very well in his battles.
Introducing Power Levels was another big mistake. People seem to think that the person with the higher power level was stronger. :( thats just Bull.
Krillan is another one that's treated like shit. The only one of them that isn't treated like shit who isn't a "regular" on the battle field seems to be Tien. I didnt really mind much about Bulma, because she's actually intelligent and nice most of the times, but Chichi is what pissed me off alot. @Lance241151 I agree. But he isn't the only character who is treated badly (though he is the most badly treated one, along with Krillin). But you're right, he's the one who gets the most insults while Krillin gets the most beatdowns. Tien is the ONLY human who almost never gets bad treatment/insults. Everyone seems to respect him enough not to insult him for some weird reason, even Vegeta. And Vegeta ALWAYS has something demeaning to say about everyone. But that's what I like about him :D

To be honest, Yamcha was never useful or badass, even in Dragonball. He did nothing against Pilaf, Red Ribbon Army, or Piccolo Daimo, and lost in the first round IN EVERY TENKAICHI BUDOKAI! Also, he lost his girlfriend to a bloodthirsty monster. Not to mention, HE DIED TO A FUCKING SAIBAMEN! The point being, Yamcha was never cool

Many positive as well. Some good points are; Yamcha helped Goku fight Monster Carrot and Rabbit Mob, when Goku transformed into great ape for (first time) Yamcha/puar stopped Goku by cutting his tail off (saving bulma), Fortuneteller Baba Saga he beat the invisible man, he fought bandages even though he knew he'd loose. Yamcha always lost in the quarter-finals against opponents far stronger. Saibaman was a cheap shot, as it could of happened to Tien. Matter of opinion really.

@JakeJonRoberts Yamcha was always cool. Never got a break, never got handout powers like Krillin but he always managed to stay on the level. Yamcha only ever backed down once in the whole series and wound up fighting anyway. Yamcha added real humanity to dragonball, the Saiyans were alien monsters as were Piccolo, Dende and Kami. Chaiotzu was an ugly flying doll, Tien had three eyes and Krillin was a bald headed gnome. Freaks the lot of em.

@JakeJonRoberts In the tournaments, always have to fight with the strongest opponent. First, Jackie Chun. Only Goku had a chance. Second, Tien. He did a really good job, but Tien had three eyes, what makes impossible to win. And third, against Kami, Earth's God. I think only Goku and Tien could have defeated him. But at least, he hit him with his Spirit Ball. That's good.
That Saibaman could have killed everyone, not only Yamcha.

@ImmaBallToucher It is hard to believe that he was a Major Character back in Dragonball to early Dragonball Z in the mid 1980's to early 1990's. Then became a minor one through out Dragonball Z and was shown once or twice in Dragonball GT, that happens sometimes where a character who is major becomes minor or a minor one becomes major if that character is losing or becoming popular.

Really awesome video man... I hate how badass Yamcha was in DB, and then when DBZ rolled around he became a bitch character. God! He had so much potential, it all when done hill once Vegeta started banging his woman.
Ohh well I still think in the end hes one of my favorite side characters, and deserves more respect than he gets.

king kai training for goku put him from aroun 1200 to OVER 9000! around 8000.
since tien yamcha and chaotzu said they do that work out and put their own little spin on it thats maybe a less than 1000 power level difference like i said. not that big of a margin. now the destructo disc thing is pretty badass. don't forget the spiritball or the wolf fang fist.

@notallthatevil Yes, Krillin has hidden power. His power jumped from about a thousand to ten thousand. Notice the giant power increase for a guy like krillin. Yamcha would never be close to having potential like that. On the other hand, just because yamcha underwent king kai's training doesn't necessarily mean he's stronger. Yamcha doesn't have any hidden reserves to tap into, he just has to train like tien, while krillin could tap into his power, so if krillin keeos training, he could tap into

Yamcha even admitted that krillin is stronger right before krillin fought pintar at the world tournament saga. He was easily destroyed by one saibamen, while krillin was able to kill 3. Yamcha is one of the weakest characters in DBZ. Even TFS (Not sure if you know them) make fun of him. Look it up, Krillin is stronger.

@AnonymousDiv0 well in viewing wise in america DB was aired in the middle of DBZ. I believe DB was made after the original story for DBZ. but i could be wrong. Its been a while since ive looked it up. but either way who cares about Yamcha. fuck it. Vegeta even takes bulma away from Yamcha. so he became utterly useless.

DBZ is the sequal to DB. Dragon Ball started in 1986 and Dragon Ball Z started in 1989, but Dragon Ball Z was shown on TV in America before Dragon Ball. I think thats y ur so confused. So no, DB was not made during the middle of DBZ. The dragonball series is not an American show. It strated in Japan.

Yamcha is so awesome, but when he was traveling with Bulma when Goku was 12, he reminded me of a guy called Gannon. I guess it's just the boyish features.
YAMCHA IS ONE OF THE BEST! He should be stronger than he actually is. What was going through Akira Toriyama's head when he made Yamcha weaker than Krillin?

I feel sorry for him. I mean, he sucks more than Krillin and it's hilarious because he should actually be a pretty strong dude. He just always gets the opponents he can't possibly beat.

Good vid. really tics me off how yamcha got pushed to the sideline. hes probably the strongest of the z fighters, since, 1, he beat reccoome, and also has the ability to do the spirit bomb. And no one ripped off his move, and he was the first one who did kamehameha, after goku. yamcha shouldve been more popularized, but Akira toriyoma needed a scapegoat, and randomly picked yamcha. sorry for the rant, haahaa.

- He never really beated Reccome, it was a filler.
- He can't do the "Spirt Bomb", but the "Spirit ball", and even being a ball and having spirit in its name, it has nothing to do with Spirit Bomb. Actually, i don't know if the translation of Sokidan is really "spirit ball" and Genki dama "spirt bomb". Why did they translate the names of the attacks in first place?

Hehe. Yeah, that's only because Akira used him in a wrong way. Yamcha has the coolest attacks ever, in my opinion, and is my favorite character so far. I keep dreaming on him having a badass training together with the other humans just to be able to deffend the earth at the same level of the Sayajins.
Tien is always training so he must be the most powerful human, but it's not for sure. The way Akira's shows the power of the characters is not logical at all.

@Clearefoda wolf fang fist is pretty frickn awesome, no doubt. but, i believe someone said krillen was the strongest human before. matter a fact, just checked!! yamcha said that at the tournament at the begginning of the buu saga to krillens daughter. he said "no sweat! your dads the strongest in the world! Among humans, that is..." and yamcha just sat there smiling -_-... akira shouldnt have done that to him

Everyone seems to use Three Days Grace songs for Yamcha.
Def underrated. I was hoping for more out of Tien and Yamcha for DBZ since Tien was the toughest challenge for Goku and Yamcha was always treated as one of the best by Goku and Krillin and he usually does very well in his battles.
Introducing Power Levels was another big mistake. People seem to think that the person with the higher power level was stronger. :( thats just Bull.

Krillan is another one that's treated like shit. The only one of them that isn't treated like shit who isn't a "regular" on the battle field seems to be Tien. Even though he isn't on the battlefield much just like Yamcha and Krillian,he seems to be the only one that doesn't get disrespected by everyone and talked down to like a piece of garbage. I just don't understand it. Is it because Tien is never around? Why do the supporting females have to act like such detestable pieces of garbage.

@Lance241151 And yea, Toriyama decided to make the females out to be 'b*tches' towards Yamcha and Krillin alot. I mean it's bad enough how females are seen as 'b*tches' in society, but making them act like so in cartoons/anime towards the good-hearted guys is just too much. Like how ChiChi ALWAYS is towards the guys, especially Goku, and how Bulma is towards Yamcha but her attitude compared to Chichi is ALOT better. I understand how they can angry at Roshi for being a perv but not for the others

They over-glorify and shed tears for "vegetas" and when someone like Yamcha dies "oh he can just be wished back with the dragonballs when we feel like it" "oh hey yamcha how was it in other word? @Lance241151 Exactly! I know he's the creator of the DB universe but he messes up ALOT. I didnt really mind much about Bulma, because she's actually intelligent and nice most of the times, but Chichi is what pissed me off alot. She was made to be the stereotypical over-protective, bitchy mom. I hate that so much. But yea, BOTH women did things that were downright annoying. Yamcha got treated like total crap, which I hate. He deserved lots more respect, despite being to weakest human Z fighter

@Xtrasupershadowgirl Exactly! I never even enjoyed Chi-Chi. She was never funny in my eyes. Just a complete pain in the ass and a waste of space in the DBZ casting. I completely agree that Bulma was the less irritating of the two.
I enjoyed her character in DB,but In DBZ she just became an annoyance that frustrated the hell out of me.

They don't give him any respect. Bulma and Chi-Chi are constantly talked down to him and shit like the time when he was transporting them in the flying machine. Even Android 18 was treating him like shit.
I hate how fickle the characters act in this series and how fucking stupid Akira Toriyama has to make the characters act. As if Yamcha is "insignificant" and to be treated as such. I hate that.

@Lance241151 I agree. But he isn't the only character who is treated badly (though he is the most badly treated one, along with Krillin). But you're right, he's the one who gets the most insults while Krillin gets the most beatdowns. Tien is the ONLY human who almost never gets bad treatment/insults. Everyone seems to respect him enough not to insult him for some weird reason, even Vegeta. And Vegeta ALWAYS has something demeaning to say about everyone. But that's what I like about him :D
