  • I think Secretariat is a good example for all us and there is no doubt that he had a great spirit, driving him to be the best, it's to bad we don't have someone like him running for president.

  • It's such a beautiful sight to see him run in slow motion, because you get to that one point, where absolutly no feet are touching the ground, and he looks like he's flying. And I bet that's where Big Red was at his happiest.:)

  • Big Red, "Secretariat", really did have the "HEART Of A Champion"!! Despite what anyone says about the movie, for me, it achieved it's Goal. To make me aware of the Greatest Race Horse That EVER Lived!! I Love Big Red!! His character, strength, passion for racing, and poise as a horse, is one that was never seen before and has never been seen since!! "Secretartiat" was INDEED the Greatest Race Horse that EVER Did or Will LIVE!!

  • That was great. Thanks for posting.

  • 12:16 THAT SCENE AND THE EMOTIONAL MUSIC = BEST SCENE IN HISTORY!!!!

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!!!

This vid really tells the whole story in 10 minutes. Great job!!

  • Help! I think I need SA (Secretariat Anonymous). I am an addict. I cannot stop watching his videos and this is one of my favorites. Pure perfection. Thank you for posting it.

  • talk about tear-jearker, 11:50 - 11:55 "and i just cared for my horse so much that i've just kept honking his horn..." penny was an 11yr old girl in an older womans body for those 5 to 7 seconds there. she knew sec saved her family's (her father's) legacy - what they had invested their entire lives in... penny's such a class act, i think she loves spending the rest of her life repaying him

  • Wish I could have met Big Red. He is a legend.

  • I love Secretariat!:X

  • God let us borrow Red for 19 years, and then He took him back.

  • @deb90566 Amen to that! Penny said something I think really is appropriate in describing Secretariat: She said from Sec's point of view: "I've already won the race, now I'll show you what I can really do". WOW! And when you watch the stretch run in the Belmont, Sec just takes off in that last 16th of a mile and widens the margin that the camera man had to focus just on Sec because his wide angle lens was already stretched.

  • @deb90566, ITA, God made one Secretariat, not to be duplicated.

  • SEC don't get me wrong yur hotstuff, always have been always will be... but this is the one and only youtube video where someone else is being stared at as much as u... Diane Lane is hotstuff too and definitely givin you a run for your money... u sired approx 600 foals u know exactly what i'm talikin about. grerat vid thanx 4 post

  • I'd like to carry this video in my shirt pocket.

  • Thanks for Posting!!!! What joy to watch and a truly extrordunary horse! Simply Amazing!!!!

  • one word- extrordinary- he was extrordinary

  • It's amazing to me how the "supernatural" dwarfed an amazingly talented horse like Sham. Perhaps if Secretariat never existed Sham would have been the triple crown. Will God ever bless us with a horse like Big Red again?

  • i visited secretariat in the summer of 1989. he was 19 yoa but he still looked magnificent. he posed for me and those pictures are still on my living room wall. i also have hair from his mane and tail in my secretariat scrapbook that his groom gave me. he was put down 2 months later. glad i got to see him in person. miss you big red.

  • One of the best representatives the US ever had. Better than any president.

    Big Red for Pres.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. Now I don't have to get the blueray disc of the movie out whenever i want to watch this and can watch it on portable devices also. It's been 38 years since this" once in a lifetime" horse amazed us all and his legend will live on for others to behold. I don't think there will ever be another that can do what he did. Thanks again.

  • Love this more please..Aussie Secretariat fan

  • i get emotional everytime i watch races of secretariat.

  • Secretariat was a Machine!!!!!

  • @sr200179 hey-that's a cute name for a thoroughbred-speed machine!!

  • I just saw this movie and remember the year it all occurred....little did I know the history I was watching being made.....he was truly a Miracle.....thanks for posting this footage that wasn't part of the DVD.

  • I know a son of his and I can tell you that he is just as intelligent and generous with his affection. He can also spend time in the air if he wants to. He is 27 and lives in Ohio. I am fortunate to have spent a year with him as my instructor. I will never forget it.

  • Secretariat is amazing. How he just kept running and pushed Sham out of the way and won the Belmont Stakes by 31 lenths! Amazing! =D

  • Thanks so much for this video and all the others that you post. Any chance you have access to videos of any of the following races:

    1970 San Juan Capistrano

    1992 Las Palmas

    1992 Yellow Ribbon

    1994 Pacific Classic

    1995 Pacific Classic

    1996 Pimlico Special

  • @tenbyssimo Thank you for the comments; you're very welcome. I'll take a look through my videotapes, but I have over 120 of them, so it may take some time to see if I have any of those races.

    Take care.

  • Awesome!! Thank you so much for this, and all your other amazing videos.

  • this horse had the biggest heart

    RIP big red

  • this is a special video ,,, 13 minutes never flew by so fast!!! many thanks for sharing this truly enjoyable homage to the incomparable thoroughbred

  • I noticed that this wonderful horse has the same features (wide neck tapered at the head, shoulders, head shape, even the three white ankles!) as the Darley Arabian - one of the founding sires of modern thoroughbreds. Sec has the most impressive physique of any racehorse I've seen. I think Man o' War had a similar build. The user "carleykaiser" has a vid of him ("Secretariat"), and in the beginning he's being washed - the resemblance to the Darley in that clip is uncanny! I enjoyed your video.

  • wow just wow. What this horse did was just 1.mind blowing and 2.untouchable really. Not another horse in race history could ever possibly accomplish what he did. This horse truly had a love for running. If i could pick just one moment in history to be at...this would be it.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. He was awesome. Brings back great memories for me. I soo love Secretariat.. Poor Sham....

    any other year....

  • @AnimalsRock4Love smile.... :)... my sentiments too... poor Sham... this is wonderful footage, glad he found it.

  • AWESOME!!! That about says it all. . .

  • Secretariat was smart, when i say smart i mean very smart, he got the pleasure of passing all the horses, when people see what there horse is up against they make there jockey do whatever it takes, even if it means whipping the horse reapetedly, but Secretariat? Nah He just cruised along happily not even trying.

  • What a great, wonderful horse. I'm really waiting for Rainaway's racing career, his grandsire is Secretariat and he has the same outlook. ^^

Secretariat is, and will ever be immortal. I don't know what will come in this century, but I don't expect to see a horse which could break his Belmont record.

But I was wondering why Sham isn't in the Top 100 list of racehorses of the 20th century...he was better then many others in this list... ._.

  • As always, thanks for all of the great videos. May Big Red's legacy live on!!

  • WHAT CAN I SAY HE WAS THE GREATEST HORSE EVER THANK YOU

  • Thank you all for the very kind words. I appreciate the support more than you could possibly know.

    God bless. :-)

  • You, Sir, are a keeper of the flame of the greatest racehorse this galaxy has ever seen...SECRETARIAT. I really appreciate your efforts to keep alive the memory of this spectacular four-legged Force of Nature.

  • Thank you again cf1970 for another enjoyable posting. Sorry to see the gfn02 has closed up shop. I'll miss the videos.

  • There will never be another like Big red...HANDS DOWN THE GREATEST!! CF I really appreciate all these great videos you post. Your channel is my favorite. Thanks again.

  • This is so beautiful, what an amazing tribute and it tied in nicely with the movie, I was around when Big Red ran and he inspired me and that is partly why I run, thank you for the post, it's in my faves.

  • Secretariat was simply breathtaking... I wasn't around to see this "tremendous machine" run, but I thank you for this amazing post so I could see his beauty :)

  • O CF, thanks so very much for this. I love him so much and can never figure out how Man O War was rated above him...I must have missed something somewhere. I have favorited of course and will watch every day, because I miss him every day:)

  • Terrific! His playful sprint in the paddock was a sight to behold!!! Thanks, CF!!!

  • Will seeing that Belmont run EVER stop putting a lump in my throat?

Thanks for this great upload, cf! He was a treasure.

  • It appalls me that people can see this footage, see him run his Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and then the legendary Belmont Stakes and STILL DOUBT him. It wasn't only his untouched athleticism, but his unreal intelligence that made him great.

Thanks for posting this! Nothing makes my day more than watching Big Red :)

  • Preakness move, best in the history of horse racing.

  • nice post.Penny and ole Big Red, the two of them were and always will be the bestest of them all, forever.

  • cf , I love this video ! =D What a joy to watch ! This is truly magnificent my very dear friend . What a treasure . :)

    Thank you so much !

  • @Jazzgirl8888 Hello, dear friend! Happy you enjoyed the video! I just couldn't pass up posting this footage when I discovered it, and I think many other Secretariat fans will love it as well.

I'm off to my Mom's birthday party soon, but thank you for the kind words; I appreciate them very much.

  • Secretariat greatest organism created in the last 100 years!

  • WOW OH WOW! thanks so much for posting this. i love the non-racing footage of him. your video contributions of secretariat and some of my favorites.
