hey amanitta wath did you say??!! u can't say that all the european judokas are wrestler....do u know roberto meloni?or..demoufacont of france?or ilias iliadis? And what about paischer?
@emptyspace07 Kata Guruma is all about using your opponent's center of gravity and shifting his weight. So yes, all judo techniques is NOT about strength.
@emptyspace07 But it's one of the most obvious examples where strength does help a lot in lifting, since strength can compensate for not moving the pivot point under the center of gravity

Personally I think Kata Guruma is a cheap throw beacause its not pure judo you must use muscle to execute the throw real Pure judo is not useing muscle or raw power but useing technique that you must work at that is why i think kata Guruma is a cheap throw i also fell the same about leg picks and drop knee and double drop knee seionage al your use ing is muscle and a bit of your opponets momentum but all you can get is an ippon if your lucky but most of the time a koka
please hush.....they are all traditional techniques for judo, luckily the world does not revolve around your arrogant opinions. The more techniques the better the arsenal, it gives ones opponent something different to look for.
As a kata guruma specialist I may say that NO JUDO technique is pure strengh. Kataguruma needs to break the balance of the body as all the techniques, if yours is not that good it's simply because your doing it wrong. Here in Brazil kata guruma comes out really well in competitions, and our judo follows the japanese tradition we are not a wrestling judo like the european judo.
if you use a kata guruma with no setup whatsoever, then you're obviously using pure muscle. But the thing with kata guruma is that you're NOT supposed to feel the weight of your opponent when you do it. its supposed to be used in conjunction with you're opponent's momentum to be done right. I personally love doing leg pickups. what i do is i use various minor throws as set ups when i do them so as not to really too much on power but more on speed and timing. you gotta be more open, man.

It's actually not a kata guruma
This one was a Te Guruma. I don't care so much about little details but the lifting technique is quite different

this is like the fireman throw in freestyle/collegiate wrestling

There is no way this is done through pure strength. Base alot of my judo on techinique due to lack of strength i can do this.
