Was this Midnight Oil or just Garrett and Hirst? That is Mark McEntee on geetar, from Divinyls and Rick Grossman on bass, from Hoodoo Gurus, Persian Carpets and Ghostwriters.
Garret found this song was a little high for him, but was committed to do the song as it was a tribute concert. Barnesy came out half way through the song to help out as he could see Peter was struggling. Have a look at his face when Barnes comes out. A look of pure relief. Props to both of them for their professionalism.
@Warthogfan Yeah, I think you're on the money!! Garrett was drowning out there 'til Barnesy came to the rescue. Not the ideal song for Garrett's voice. He showed more energy to the end of the song when he was sharing the vocal's with Jim.
good to see someone smart enough to appreciate the music and what it was about....all egos along with the 'cool' were left in the cupboard that night...well done Peacedawg!!!....and aint that Divinyls guitarist a rock legend
Those are some high notes but who gives a shite if they are a little out of his range! The performance as a whole still kicks alot of ass and as a MO fan, introduced me to JB, which I am most grateful for!
pretty typical of garret it seems these days , maybe he payed of the mixer , as barnsey may as well of sang without a mic has showed him up no doubt, pull the finger out peter!
Thanks so much for posting this. I love the Dragon original -- saw Marc sing this many times in the late 1980s. Can we get the original on Youtube some time??
Seeing Garret struggling with the upper register stuff Barnes came out to help. It was nice to see. This was done shortly before Marc Hunter died to help raise funds for his cancer fight. RIP Marc.
Nothing like seeing a good Garrett dance in your night. This is a fab video, two of my all time fave Oz rockers and singing a legendary NZ band song sadly on the passing of Marc Hunter. Dragon a truly understated group.

Rob Hirst is without doubt the finest drummer (and songwriter) in this country.

This needs more Jimmy. Peter seems to be hogging the song and he doesn't have the voice for a song like this.

hogging the song? Peter is the lead singer! Jimmy was backing

That was fantastic! Midnight Oil, Barnsey and half of Divinyls all on stage ... brilliant!

I remember watching this live and thinking it was a powerful performance.
Sure, it stretched him in the upper register, but it added to the emotion - you gotta admit this is straight from the heart.
