  • Jeezus. If it was "boo boo" then why the F does it say "Ubu" you dopes?

  • @yeahrightkid it was never boo boo dumb ass. It even said UBU on the fucking commercial.

  • 400 x 262 pixels

  • My BF thought it was Booboo too - had to come here to clarify!! LOL

  • I only thought of this because of Peter griffan's opening statement lol

  • I'n pretty sure the VAST majority of us all thought it was "boo boo" and not Ubu.

Either way, these 3 seconds trigger a myriad of memories :'-)

  • UBU

  • Its boo boo, deff..

  • warf

  • lol i thought it was "Boo Boo" too

  • Out of nowhere this popped into my head after 20 plus years. I had to see if it was posted! Youtube is awesome!

  • I always thought it was "Sit boo boo sit."

  • @OnlyOneG1986, yeah ur not the only one. lol.

  • I saw this like the other day & i could not stop laughing !

  • I used to love this when i was younger.

  • what are you talking about? i heard the bark good

  • Thumbs up if Peter Griffin's opening statement made you look this up.

  • Sit boo boo sit!

    Good Dog. ^w^

  • @TheBadShaman It's "Sit UBU sit...good dog. Took my 8 yr old to convince me i was wrong all these yrs.

  • @ayengeliis Ya know how much i regret that? I actually submitted the comment and then I was like "Oh shit! Its UBU not Boo Boo dumbass!' I had nightmares for the next 7 moons

  • @TheBadShaman back in the day i thought it was that also. : D

  • family guy

  • I remember when I used to watch spin city only because I wanted to see this dog

  • @HollandurGnaget i'm watching spin city right now haha

  • olollllolllol

  • It makes me wanna watch the littlest hobo, I loved that show back in the day!

  • It's meh dog's name.

  • All sorts of media always parody this ending logo. Hehe.

  • Nowadays they run voice over commercials during the end credits (an act that I DESPISE) and they ALWAYS cut off Ubu's end bark...which was always part of the ambience for me. *sigh*

  • Always thought it was Booboo ;-(

  • @Aldwyns Me too LOL

  • @Aldwyns it is boo boo, but the company is ubu. listen closely. you can hear 2 b's

  • Grr Arrg!

  • My dad used to say this to me when I was younger, minus the "Good dog." and I had no idea where it came from.

  • UBU always scared me too but I can't really say why. I think mostly it was because he does not appear to have any eyes (they match his fur color too well) and plus he doesn't actually sit! Also my Mom told me that the dog was probably dead when I was a kid and that just scared me even more.

  • Good stuff... Where's the bark?

  • Ubu used to scare me when I was little. I always used to hide behind the chair whenever Spin City was ending lol!

  • Ubu has scarred me for life.

  • The bark didn't get cut out. You can't sneak that one by me. I saw the whole clip. Nice try.

  • Uh.... apparently that dude can't see striaght cause that dog is not sitting!

  • Gary David Goldberg's production company logo was initially seen at the end of his first Paramount TV series, "MAKING THE GRADE", a six-episode "wonder" which aired on CBS in the spring of 1982. The next series he used it on was...'FAMILY TIES". Read all about the story behind the logo in Gary's 2008 autobiography, "Sit, Ubu, Sit".

  • @fromthesidelines ok, no one cares, get a life plz

  • I remember always seeing this at the end of Spin City with Michael J Fox.

  • Weird, how stuff like this gets stuck in your head for almost 30 years.

  • Was that the production company from Family Ties?

  • But Ubu did not sit. Ubu just stood there with a frisbee. Ubu is a bad dog.

  • Family Guy did it

  • THANKS FOR POSTING THIS! SIT UBU SIT GOT STUCK IN MY HEAD AND RANDOMLY SAY IT SO MUCH THAT MY NOW 16 YR OLD WONDERED WTH I WAS TALKING ABOUT. HA!

  • Ubu ( dog in the logo ) died in 1984

  • I was born in 82 and all this time i thought the freakin Dogs name was Boo Boo. lmao. oh yea and....."RUFF"!

  • Here's the alternate version from Ubu Productions: =1yQx_PjgGAk

  • I am only 12 years old and I sort of remember this.

  • this was my most favorite logo of all time since it first came out. not only was it on family ties, but also on spin city.

  • I just saw this after watching an episode from my newly purchased Family Ties Season 2 (1983) DVD. I miss the 80's.

  • @SquareheadX me too

  • sit youbou sit.good boy.bark!

  • damn ubu allways closing out the family ties episodes!

  • It sounds like he's saying sit boo boo sit. The only reason I know he's saying ubu is beacause it says ubu productions.

  • CREEPYYY

  • Toinye: Judging by your grammar and typing, the reason you were scared was because you're an idiot.

  • i thought i wuz the only person who got scared shitless by UBU.......but now I cant even figure out why. Looks like a regular ass dog to me......

  • My dad used to say this to my dog all the time.

  • @yerboogieman Did your dog also happen to be named Ubu?

  • its ubu lol i thought it was boo boo

  • OMG...same here! I was thinking..."Some day...when I get my own dog...I'm going to name him BUBU or Boo Boo..." alll because I remember seeing this as a kid...It was a toss-up between this or Mr. Muggs~

  • nice

  • Why was this considered scary?

  • @Chonson it was considered scary not necesssarily because of this logo, but because of the subsequent Paramount logo and its jingle, which was used in pre-1987 episodes of Family Ties. Many people (especially little kids like me in the 80s) found the Paramount logo scary.

the UBU logo sort of warned kids that the Paramount logo is coming up, so the kids become conditioned to get startled by the UBU logo . The UBU logo was to the Paramount logo what the bell was to Pavlov's dog food.

  • Where's the woof?

  • read the descriptionnnn.... -_-

  • Oops, my bad. Usually I read the descriptions, but I think this one was so short that I didn't even notice it.

  • lol you are forgiven ;)

  • freakin classic

  • I think I'll get myself a black labrador, and name him Ubu, just to impress the hell out of my friends when I say "Sit, Ubu, sit"

  • I don't know why I used to be scared of this. I always jumped behind the couch whenever Spin City ended.

  • LOL when i was a kid, this used to come on after cheers, i used to think this was a horse lol.

  • @RL789 wait a minute Family Ties was broadcast b4 Cheers

  • I thought I was the only one scared of this too! I have no idea why either. I used to see it after family ties.

  • That dog used to scare the piss outta me when I was little.

  • @jpowers55 I was the same way when I was a kid. I think I was like 4 or 5 years old, and I think it came on at the end of Family Ties. My parents would have to hurry up and turn the station before the production card came on because I would freak out.

  • Me too!

  • @jpowers55 What did you mean that ubu used to scare you?

  • its taking the piss out of ppl who r glued to the tv.....sit boy sit....good dog

  • WTF! Just recently I had gotten this out of my head and now it's back. HA HA!

  • Sit Ubu sit.

    Bad dog. *shoots ubu*

  • This line has run through my head millions of times in the last 25 years.

  • WOOF

  • Ubu never really sits. How is he a good dog?

  • @hondoman99 I know right

  • Without the bark.....it's NOTHING

  • Comment removed

  • no he did not cut the bark

  • ubu or bubu? theres another vid with bubu, both look authentic, weird

  • Yeah, most people say bubu, but it was actually Ubu. Classic.

  • aww come on man! You gotta keep the bark in there...its a trade mark.

  • i miss ubu too..... ;(... ;(.......

  • where's the bark?

    the most important bit..... :(

  • I love this. I miss you ubu.

  • Haha I remember this from spin city. Thanks!

  • why... the fuck.... did i just look this up

  • my thoughts exactly

  • LMAO!!!

  • I don't know, but I was watching a string of 1-5 words videos and thought this might be funny.

  • @tavern2468 lmaoooo...i was thinking about typing the same thing while i was executing the search...

  • Why..the fuck...would you post a comment like that? It's not like anyone's going to be able to tell you WHY you looked it up. Why the fuck WOULDN'T you look this up? :)

  • @tavern2468 lmfaooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! i was thinking the same thing.. sigh things you do when your bored..lol

  • why cut the bark?

  • Thank you so much for posting this!! LOL! Good ol' 80s...

  • I can't believe this is here!!!! I remember saying that all of the time after watching Family Ties. You made my day!!!!!!!!! Someone said that to a coworker today and made me laugh and I wanted to see it!!! THANKs for posting!

  • shit ubu shit good dog

  • BrownEyedRican2, Paramount (now CBS television distribution) are the distributors for Family Ties and Spin City, so their logo followed this.

  • I bet that dog is dead by now. I would always sing with it. Sit Boo-Boo-sit. Good dog. Ruff.

  • the funny thing is when i was younger i always thought that the dog was a big black horse...lol...

  • I thought I was the only one. Woo hoo I'm not alone! I also thought the dog's name was "Boo Boo".

  • @LPOSLA haha...the first time I saw it, I thought it was a cow or hippo

  • Ha I named my dog ubu after this dog.. I had him 14 years. I named my 2nd black lab Bonzo because that was my ubu"s Fathers name

    RIP Ub man

  • When I was a kid, we named a cat we had UbU because it didn't clean itself and was not a very attractive cat.

  • Its notable productions include Family Ties (1982--1989), Brooklyn Bridge (1991--1993), and Spin City (1996--2002).UBU's "mascot" is Goldberg's dog Ubu Roi, a black labrador retriever. The dog was named after Ubu Roi, an 1896 play by Alfred Jarry that is considered a precursor to the Theater of the Absurd. Ubu died in 1984.

  • Don't forget Night Court!

  • Night Court is affiliated with Starry Night Productions/Warner Bros. Entertainment.

  • I liked the commercial but the bark kinda freaked me out as a kid while watching it.

  • same

    is was scary hay

  • I remember seeing this after they would air Family Ties as a kid

  • i remember this from when i was younger not they dont show it anymore

  • awesome i love it

    so sendimental to me

    but where's the bark

please someone post it with the bark

  • One of my favourite production company "jingle" :)

Too bad the bark is cut out, cause that is the best part of it. :)

  • silver spoons,and punky brewster

  • Sit Ubu Sit, Good Dog

  • HAHAHA 5 stars

  • there is no bark..... BUT he was the 1st to post it on youtube!

  • Besides Spin City and Family ties, what other shows has this logo? because back in the 90's i remember seeing this logo with "in Association With" right under the words "UBU Productions"

  • Day by Day (spin off of FT)

    Brooklyn Bridge

  • The arf was the best part of the logo!

  • any way you could get the bark on the end? Classic though.

  • You posted the same message twice.

  • yea

  • Was the bark being cut out an accident?

  • yea

  • I think he cut the bark because the scary "in association with" in yellow letters with a complete dark screen would follow and then came the ultimate nightmarish ending with the Paramount Big Blue Mountain that would follow to finish things off...

  • @LPOSLA

Oh, ya. That was def SCARY, when I was a kid. The "In association with" line especially! :-S

  • @babygiraffe123 Yeah I always took that "in association with" line as being disguised as a *WARNING* sign to me because they were just preparing you for what was scary that was coming next. It's almost like they knew you were going to be scared of the very last logo so when it says "in association with" they were pretty much signaling you to turn the channel before that logo with scary theme music came right in. And for some reason as a kid, I always thought that the dog was a horse by mistake.

  • @LPOSLA oh yes...and that pre-1987 Paramount logo jingle can startle a little kid easily.

  • ubu is a great dog

  • I miss UBU Productions badly. I appreciate that Michael J. Fox brought it back for Spin City.

  • Sit, Ubu, sit. Good dog!

  • and spin city
