It sounds so similar to Curt B's other projects, Millennium and Ballroom, that I wonder if it's the same musicians and just released under a different group name.
Standing in this rainy darkness Not a star pervades the night Standing in my lonely shadow Will I ever see the light ? Don't say no Give me just a little of your sunshine Don't say no Can't you see how dark my life is without you ? In the winter of my life time Longing for a hand to hold Want to find my only true love Before my eyes have grown too old
Don't say no Give me just a little of your sunshine Don't say no Can't you see how dark my life is without you ? People always call me on earth I think that you hang far between Always searching for my rainbow Going where the grass is green Don't say no Give me just a little of your sunshine Don't say no Can't you see how dark my life is without you ? I think thats right !! Ade in the UK
Thanks, it has been a little slow with graduate work and full-time teaching. I have a sister site at sunshinetunes67 that my partner does a lot more posting than I do.
Wow, that is a really beautiful track. I love it. Curt was the King Midas of sunshine pop. Everything he touched turned into gold. Thank you very much for posting it.
I can tell you that the last time that I heard this song was aroung 1968. I tape-recorded it from the speaker of a cheap AM/FM radio onto my reel-to-reel with the station fading in and out. The radio station was WABC-FM in New York City, a pioneer FM radio station at the very beginning of the FM radio rock era. I never even knew who recorded it as it wasn't announced in typical FM radio fashion. I simply CAN'T believe that I am hearing this. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
Yes, these recordings surely do have merit. I have always been one to go for the obscure. There is so much talent in this world and so little of it is exposed to a mass market. Keep up the good work.
That's interesting because the liner notes on the album credit Curt on vocals; but it may not necessarily have been the lead though. If you can find out more, get back to me.
Great to see this online, I found this same record back in the early 90's and it's been a favorite of mine since then. I always thought it was a studio production with Curt singing lead and maybe double-tracking harmonies.
You're probably on track with your assessment of the origins of the song. Another studio created band for Curt to try new stuff. Too bad he isn't alive so he could fill in the details.

Incidentally, WABC-FM at 95.5 later became WPLJ in New York.

There is always someone out there that remembers even the most obscure cuts. I guess that is why I feel this music has merit.
