I'll take the Lada, Most Volvos are just over-rated rip-offs of other cars like the PV444 which is just a smaller Chevy/Studebaker and the 122s cars which were just front motor'd VW Type 3's and their many poormans Mercedes copies like the 240.

They are actually copies of the old Moskvitsh cars, but indeed have a little mix of fiat. But I like both cars and Lada's are not that bad as you described, I've even seen a lot more old Ladas on the road than volvo's despite the volvo's are very popular. And as you saw, the Volvo started smoking first ;)
