The Mrs. Lovett performance was great (as was Todd's). Although I always have to watch her die; I just Love the last bit she sings, so much emotion, no matter how not right in the head she was.
@benjamminjensen Yes this is the school edition. Not much was changed. The Judge's number was removed and there are alternative lyrics in a few spots but those are the major adaptations.
The set looks more intense than most stage productions i have seen (in person)
That is insanely impressive!
I dont mind the movie look so much, but I think they really could have done without the wig for Sweeney, that's just distracting, he could have just used his own hair and idk sprayed the white/grey streak in But anyways, awesome production. I wish my school would do that, but I honestly think given my Sweeney knowledge, my school would disappoint me and prob just destroy the show
@FleetStreetNightmare Thank you so much for the comments. As far as the wig goes, that was at the actor's request. We did need to wig him though, he had really short curly hair and looked too clean cut. We needed something to make him look more 'menacing'.
@introspecttheatre lol oh if his curly hair grew out a bit longer they could have just used that I guess. but yea I get what you mean. Anyways great job! Im still jealous that my school cant do this, we fail at life :P
my high school is considering this show for next spring :] i would love to do it, but couldnt figure out how a high school could pull it off...this has proved me completely wrong :D
Oh I see. Yeah, the actor playing Sweeney requested the Depp wig- look and if you look at the original Broadway production with Angela Lansbury , Lovett's hair (wig) was based from that not the movie. wasn't Lovett in the movie just a messy up-do? Don't remember, only saw it once when it first came out.
@introspecttheatre Mrs. Lovetts hair in the movie was a messy up do. The broadway hair was like two twisted up pig tails. Kinda hard to explain but yeah.
Yeah I hate it when people mimic the movie "because thats what it is supposed to look like." Come on people have some creativety and do something original!
We all have made our own interpretations of characters. We havn't watched someone else do it and took ideas, with our director we actually sat down in the read through and thought about where our character was. Really worked for us to develop our own characters.
ok aside from the movie-esque aspects....it was actually pretty cool
set was awesome and i mean like wow pretty damn cool and the fact your school allows this school pisses me off because our school would NEVER let us do it!!!
We're doing this! I'm playing the role of Mrs. Lovett, and I hope to do it just as well as she did! she was spectacular! xx xx

I love it how everyone claped on poor Mrs. Lovett died. The scene was good and dramatic, don't get me wrong, but the clapping made me lol!

That set is amazing! But I don't like some of the staging choices and neither your sweeney nor your mrs lovett can act. They're only good singers.
KevCantStop 1 year ago
@KevCantStop Thanks for your comments! It is a melodrama so I know the actors were told to overplay it. The staging definitely could be better.

@RyanToro69 I felt lovett leaned more toward Angela Lansbury, they combined the movie and the show
