HOD's "Successor of Fate" & "Offense and Defense" were both brilliant songs, in spite of the poor sound. But man, the Luminous Cave and Merchant BGMs were *atrocious* the Merchant one being probably the single worst song in CV history.

I dunno, even on those good songs, the sound quality was attrocious. Now, Portrait of Ruin, thats how you make a Castlevania Soundtrack.

I played the hell out of this game! I too played it so much that I could loop the game indefinitely. Love the music too. Konami would always max out the GB sound chip.

It amazes me that this manages to sound better then HoD.

Yeah, I don't know what the hell happened with HoD. There were a handful of really excellent songs on it, but the rest of the soundtrack was just really "off".
