  • Hey dude, I Really like your list! and honorable Mentions!

    lots of great bands!

For me the number one is The Form Of The Good!

  • I'm the violinist in The Living, and I was so pleased to stumble across this today. We are honored to receive an Honorable Mention from you. :) Thank you very much!

  • @xenophile84

Thanks Elyse! I really enjoyed the EP. Hopefully a full album will follow in the not too distant future. All the best!

  • @yesrushdt We plan to release a full album later this year. I will make it a personal goal to get on your Top 10 list for 2011 ;)

All the best to you too!

  • Also, An Endless Sporadic's album is great too. All around good list dude. It's cool to see people still have the same kind of taste in music as I do.

  • Great fucking list, man. Thank God you included The Whirlwind. Such a great album and its cool seeing it getting the attention it deserves.

  • Nice list!

  • I agree for the most part. ;-)

  • It's rare that I find progressive rock and metal bands that I haven't heard of or don't know anything about, but this list has introduced me to a LOT. On this list, I knew about Dream Theater, Phideaux, An Endless Sporadic, Epica, and Transatlantic. The rest I've never even heard of before. Thank you very much.

  • Very interesting selections, and some I really like, in particular the number one choice. Some I wouldn't have in there (Dream Theater) and a couple I'd not heard (An Endless Sporadic - sounded good, and Knight Area).

Excellent presentation of the songs too!

  • Me Quedo con ADHD (Riverside), Jolly , The Incident and the Octahedron.

  • Brilliant selections for three years so far, yesrushdt! Your videos make up a useful catalogue... if you like it, I'll buy it. Your taste is superb.

I look forward to your top ten for 2010. If you're considering suggestions, may I humbly nominate: Kaipa, "In The Wake Of Evolution"; Spock's Beard, "X"; Opeth, "Blackwater Park"; Myrath, "Desert Call".

  • My top 5:

    1. Disperse: Journey through the hidden gardens

    2. A.C.T-Last Epic

    3. Frost*-Milliontown

    4. Kaipa-In the Wake of Evolution

    5. Red-End of silence

  • ASTRA WAS AWESOME!

  • This probably IS the 10 best albums of 2009 as far as I know. The only band I've heard of is Epica. It would be interesting to compare it with a Top 10 of the 70's:Welcome Back My Friends,Brain Salad Surgury(ELP),Close to the Edge,Fragile(YES),Journey to the Center of the Earth(RICK WAKEMAN),Caress of Steel,A Farewell to Kings(RUSH),Thick as a Brick(JETHRO TULL),Larks Tongue in Aspic(KING CRIMSON),Mirage(CAMEL).Has music gotten better or worse?

  • which song is that Transatlantic song? :)

  • Muse - The Resistance should be on your top 10 :)

  • Maudlin Of The Well-'Part the Second' is BY FAR the best album of that year in my opinion , i really really recommend it to any prog fan who have'nt heard it (it can be downloaded free from MOtW's website! in fact it's the only way to get it)

  • What about Big Big Train?

  • Nice selection, many bands I never heard before.

  • I would have to agree with an endless sporadic being number one or two, but no beardfish? Of course, i havn't heard most of these bands so i have yet to judge.

  • ah but i have a fuck load to explore because im trapped in my dream theater and opeth bubble if you know what i mean...

  • You probably do have a lot to explore, but I can think of worse bubbles to be in.

  • ya... :)

    Jonas Brothers bubble....

    Slipknot

  • IQ's Frequency Should be up there... its so good!

  • @nickoo2nickoo2 Very good album indeed. Like I said, it was really hard to narrow my list down. I put it in my honorable mentions list at least. :)

  • I haven't heard most of the albums on your list, but it all sounds good.

And IMO Destined Solitaire could be the best 2009 album I've heard.

  • best album of 2009 is megadeths endgame

  • osi-blood?

  • Prog is alive! The albums of this top-ten are wholly excellent. And all your honorable mentions give us hours of fantastic music! Thanks Yesrushdt

  • Dream Theater' album is the best of 2009. YAAAAAAAAAY!

  • What software did you use?

  • @jubalprogject Sony Vegas

Thanks for the heads up on 5BridgeS. I've never heard of them until just now. The songs on their MySpace sound very promising.

  • Thanks for reply. And thanks for post Phideaux, I had heard the name but not their music, is great.

  • Nice list.

Wobbler - Afterglow is my favourite.

5Bridges - The Thomas Tracks is a great album too...

  • Some really cool music hear. And most of the bands I've never heard of. Got lots to explore. Thanks :)

  • Definitely amazing.. Glad to see Phideaux on the top of the list, although I'm not sure that I'd place Number Seven on top of Doomsday Afternoon myself.. It's a tough call, both are excellent.

It's too bad Beardfish didn't make a better album this time around, it's not HORRIBLE, but it doesn't compare to the "Sleeping In Traffic"'s

  • @MawcDrums

Yeah, Destined Solitaire is a good album, but not quite on par with their other releases.

  • Yay! 1st to comment.

That being said, I'm still watching the video.
