  • GROOVY!!!!

  • Copyright infringement on Saint Saens masterpiece!!!! :P

  • Organist at 1:55. He's like, nice one, I'm on! Then he finds a bogey on the keys.

  • James Cromwell did this better. Also, the music they made for this song in Babe was way more fitting.

  • @MrDestro0000

It was the British Eurovision song contest entry for 1988. It came second in the competition behind Celine Dion singing "Ne Partez Sans Moi"

    Courtesy "Song facts"

In my opinion there would be many who would disagree with your view that James Cromwell did it better

  • I like it

  • Oh, good to see so many from Nederlands commenting. My Dutch is not good, only Pim and Ida are fluent. Great singers from Holland, Yvonne is one of those, love this song! BB x

  • 77/ 78..... mijn eerste dansje met meiden uit de zesde klas, wel een paar keer dan één. Toffe herinnering.

  • Ter gelegenheid van de geboorte van Noortje Peels ?

  • This vid was on TopPop, back in 1977. Everybody knows this is Yvonne Paay, Patricia Paay's sister.

  • this was my first single i bought in holland i liked it and i still like to hear it

    great song

  • Does everyone know the melody is Saint Sans Organ Concero? Thought you would like to know.

  • Heerlijk!!!

  • Thumbs up if you thought the farmer from babe made this song up and then thought these guys made it up. Then you realized that like all good songs it was actually written by a great composer. By the name of, of I don't know, CAMILLE SAINT SAENS?!?!?!

  • i was 8years old when this come out. was a great song in New Zealand back then :]

  • @chevyvictor I was 5. In OZ. I still listen to it with family. It is a favourite... :) Good times.

  • I like this!

  • 16 people are deaf.

  • IF you like this go watch Scott & Yvonne UNITED WE STAND video good stuff

  • Wow!!!!!!!

  • Love it

  • Simply beautiful!

  • real a lovely song

  • I am sure if they brought it our again it would top the chart once more! Best any of the Paay sister sounded too!

  • that'll do, pig! <3

  • How ignorant... when I was younger, I always thought Scott Fitzgerald was African-American!

... he sounds like it to me anyway.

  • @JruHoliday I think you are thinking of F Scott Fitzgerald, this is the Scott Fitzgerald (William McPhail) born in Glasgow,Scotland who was a one hit wonder with this song.

  • He has an extremely distinctive voice like a really deep falsetto with shades of Kermit the frog and Ron Isley. Interesting to listen to.

  • and this is the original :

youtube: saint saens organ symphony 4th movement but better you can listen it live p.example in Amsterdam at Concert Gebouw ...

  • As pure as a Child's song

    As powerful as Gospel *

  • Mashallah. Beautiful.

  • God I used to love this song as a kid. It's only now I realised they were White. Omfg. I shall be downloading it for my all time favourite compilation.

  • What's with the black people wearing African clothes..? How far south is this?!?!

  • Poor Saint Saëns. I'm glad he never heard this

  • This has "seventies" written all over it. Love it !

The singer Scott Fitzgerald went on to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest. He lost out by only one point to Celine Dion inexplicably representing Switzerland !

  • My best friend's son, and my 'nephew by default', was married in Vancouver in 2002. This song was used as the couple's first dance at their reception.

I need to go watch BABE again!!!

  • cool ,from the year i was born ( February 1977 )

i like this Reggae touch in the song. but also the melody line is very pretty.

acctualy the first time i heared this song was from the movie Babe ( it was played very fast ) but already i heared the melodie line and i went to the net to search for the orgnal and found it ... now i now and than listen to it.

    great song !

  • QUALITY !!!!!

  • BABE!

  • This is one of my favorite songs ever. And you can get it on iTunes in some countries like Australia. It's on the "This Is..." series of compliations. And look for the one for either 1978 or 1979.

  • my ringtone as sang by the mice in Babe! ;D

  • Nice. =) The song was originally written in 1886 by composer Camille Saint-Saëns. Check out Symph #3 Op. 78, and crank up the volume. Its AWESOME!

  • @hamel1968 Nobody knows that! I did :)They just took the melody and make it in to this simple song and get all the credit for it. Great song though

  • hi billy i remember you well and yir uncle. awe the best. showaddypaddy fae the handful.you and frankie ur it

  • God, wish i could buy this on I-Tunes, would start my day off justright. Brings back so many school dance memories. Just love finding these songs out of my memory box (my head)

  • @hippychick65 You can - I got it from the Jackie CD (if not from UK - Jackie was a 70's girls' mag). If you go on iTunes look out for the red cover with Donny Osmond on I think it's on that one. I also got a track I had been waiting for for ages off that one - Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davies Jnr - You Don't Have to be a Star.

  • ocleirigh86

You are so right. Deep inside of all of us I beleive we have the ability to act in a kind way to others. As I stated before - "it takes the same energy to be nice as it takes to be bad" - only the results differs. BR to all you fine people out there. May all the best things reach you.

  • I agree with ocleirigh86. It is indeed good to read only nice comments and to see everyone getting along. Sadly, it is not always the case, with cancerous scumbags and paedophiles slagging each other off. Cunts.

  • Man, this guy was a great novelist AND a great song writer!! XD

  • @bwc3821 Haha, Scott Fitzgerald and F. Scott Fitzgerald aren't the same person...

  • This song makes me think of yesterday: The day I recieved my A.S. from college!

  • My first shuffle close to close dance!!!!!

  • I am old enough to remember this when the video appeared on New Zealand TV in 1979. I will add this to my iTunes library and put it on my iPhone shortly. Great song.

  • all those people waving arround make me happy :D

  • Thanks for sharing. Gotta love the coordination of the congregation.

  • Always loved this song, still have the vinyl single. Also Love the Saint-Saens organ concerto it came from, play it full volume on my MP3 player (note not an ipod)

  • 0:40 to 1:20.. where did a white man get a voice, phrasing, inflection, and tessitura like this??!!??!!?? Incredible. As good and soulful as any singer that ever came out of Motown, possibly with the exception of David Ruffin (I'd have to hear more).

  • Check out Scott Fitzgerald & Yvonne Keeley United WeStand video great stuff

  • Hear this on Paul Ogrady Sunday show on BBC2. Brought back beautiful memories and lifted me so much I could have flown!! What has happened to Yvonne and Scott would love a remake of this song - or re release. Yep it is soooo good to hear people saying nice things and getting along. Take care and be happy folks, think a new era of caring and beautiful things is about to start! Fingers crossed!! Love and peace. BB x

  • @buntybunny yeah me to! lol

  • @buntybunny So did I, that's the great thing about radio, it introduces you to some great new pieces of music you'd otherwise never hear, (I'm 19 so fat chance any of my peers would have this on their iPods!)

  • MY MUM LOVED IT,SO DO I...

  • If you're watching this, Saint-Saëns is rolling over in his grave.

  • @kenalebla "If you're watching this, Saint-Saëns is rolling over in his grave." I wouldn't bet on it. You just don't know much about Saint-Saens, who was not the typical composer prima-donna. Like most composers, with few notable exceptions (like Sorabji), he would be pleased that his music was an updated memorable basis for a landmark movie loved by countless millions of children. Study SS's music and bios. There's nothing to indicate he'd roll in his grave over this.

  • @TheLyiinHawaiin What are you talking about! Saint-Saëns was quite the prima-donna and a musical conservative who often made a point of bashing his more progressive contemporaries, like Debussy. As far as getting his music out to the masses, consider Debussy prevented the publishing of his Carnival of Animals because, although he realized it would be popular, he thought it would tarnish his reputation. Also, consider that many people listening to this have no idea he wrote the tune.

  • @kenalebla Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this isn't great music and mostly meant the comment as a joke and nod to the uncredited composer of the melody.

However, having a knowledge of the live and times of Saint-Saëns, who walked out of the premiere of the "Rite of Spring" and who composed extremely conservative works for his era, I feel I can safely say he wouldn't go for this.

  • @thelraRock

this seems to be a very long time to make a comeback but

  • what on earth is going on in there...jonestown all over again..

Dus 8 seconden? 0;08 seconde is wel erg kort;)
