this song was written about my dads girlfriends older sister. when they sang it for the first time they had her come up on stage while they sang it to her. yes this song is true and her name is really bobby sue. haha that rhymed :)

Richard Sterban was with J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet before joining the OAk Ridge Boys. In case you don't know, J.D. and the Stamps (with Richard) backed up Elvis in the 70's.
Catch their debut of this one on the Johnny Carson Show, it's even better! I had a Bobbie Sue once a long time ago, she's in my heart and can never go away.
Bobbie Sue very good Oak Ridge Boys kinda fallow up hit to there 1981 hit Elvira then they had a hit with this one good group one of my favs of all time and there still out there going at it so cool
You really must have the brain of a gnat, or perhaps you're 14 years old and raised by savages. Either way, it would be appreciated if you could speak English and not be so self- centered . Kids should be able to watch an oak ridge boys video without reading your foul language. It's really that simple.
This is a great song. It has a great up beat and I love haering Richard sing his bass parts. I wish that The Oakridge Boys would go back to singing and recording country music. Thanks for posting this video.
Pianocidal... Not trying to be rude but this song was released in 1982 from the oak ridge boys seventh album call Bobbie sue The White Strips where not formed until 1997
@deftittle800 The comment about the White Stripes doesn't really apply here, but I saw a special on DIRECTV last night where they performed their version of Seven Nation Army.....It was kind of funny.
Where did the guy on the right get pipes like that? He doesn't have the frame for it, and it doesn't look like he's forcing it out there either. That is amazing.
@HHSGDFootballJPD Have you aver heard of J D Sumner and the Stamps Quartet? Richard sang with them in the 1970's when the toured with Elvis Presley. I agree that Richard dose not have the tipical look of a base singer.
I don't know about those lyrics - I know there's a "Santa's Song" by the Oaks that goes, "All night long, I'll be singing my song, singing ho ho ho as I'm flying along." Is that the one you're thinking of?
wtg bobfordd thankyou for giving everyone a look into what i already knew.and that is what a great group the oak ridge boys are keep the posts coming god bless you bobfordd and your family
Chicks dug that deep voice. They thought it was symbolic of being penetrated deeply in the ass. The other three guys hated that prick. He got all the pussy. He dropped load after load of his man gravy on those stupid redneck bitches.
On another post, someone said this song came out in 1982, and I would guess it was around that time. If you would like to see what they look like now, check out the 2008 performance on MikeWX2's site. My husband went to school with William Golden (long beard) in East Brewton, AL.
Richard Sterban must have Formaldehyde flowing through his veins...he sang with Elvis, J.D. Sumner, and for the last 100 years the Oaks.....with the exception of updating his hairstyle every now and then the guy never ages
I think everyone is missing the point. I meant my original comment as a compliment. Mr. Sterban has been one of my favorite singers for many years since I was a child.
The were in Topeka, KS last weekend but I didn't get the chance to see them.
