Why is a Mayan calendar necessary to highlight contemporary issues? The main problems we face today are our own doing, we cause them. Disaster is inevitable due to people and their attitudes, not because an ancient calendar says so, and it has been apparent to anyone who cares to look and think about it for decades- its a natural consequence of how we choose to live. The world is 4.5 billion years old, its done fine in all that time. The world isn't going wrong and doesn't need to change- we do.

But there is a possibility of "planet x" causing the CME's...of course, we will all get the correct info, at the same time! I don't know how they don't understand that its 26000 or so years, aka its tracking our solar system's movement through the milky way. The sun rises from earths perspective to be aligned with the exact center of the milky way on december 21st 2012 and won't happen for another 26000 years. How hard is that to understand? Our calendar is based on how many days it takes to go around the sun, it doesnt mean the world ends every year just because the calendar does.

When examinging the Mayan Calendar, I do find it strange that they plot the stars so far into the future, but what is more eerie is that it also went backwards. It plotted these solistria movements before the Mayans ever existed. Our calendars today only deal with what lies ahead.

i dont believe in the apocalipse at 2012 but i enjoy listening to hancock's ideas. some are very brilliant. Last year on 21/12 every single earthquake monitor went off simultaneously. This has never happened in our known history. No one knows why but I find the date rather strange. It will be interesting if the same happens this year.

This is the asteroid that NASA plans to land on in April 2029, as it passes in between the space of the Earth and the Moon, and probably divert its orbit so it doesn't hit us the next time it circles around.

3. Someone realises there is a mistake in the current format.

When examinging the Mayan Calendar, I do find it strange that they plot the stars so far into the future, but what is more eerie is that it also went backwards. It plotted these solistria movements before the Mayans ever existed. Our calendars today only deal with what lies ahead.

The solstice was used to measure the end of the agricultural calendar by the "gods," when the actual physical year ended on the last second of the last minute of the last hour of the last day of Winter, 2012. The Mayan calendar counted back to start at around 14,6 billion years or so and at the end his rank of figures is 13 / 13 / 13 / 13 ... 13 / 13 / 13 ... That rank shows the connection between the Gods and the creation, there is no seperation in the Mayan mythology between all beings.
At the 2012-12-21 is just the end of the long counting, the old world (consciousness) will pass, a new consciousness will arise.
