  • When i do this conversion I'm chaning out the tacometer because this engine redlines at 2500 RPM. What kind of mileage you getting with your truck? 25-30?

  • @Ratkill9000 20mpg

  • Nice truck but take off the shell it'll look better

  • why not go with a 5.9 cummins everything as far as body and frame is really similar to a 2500-3500 dodge and then you have a big engine, second you switched to a manual from an auto why not get rid of the shifter and dash stuff, i am not gona lie you did a decent job always nice to clean up under the hood a little better then that but hey if it runs big deal, but i am looking into this on mine i would not go with anything other then the 5.9

  • @ranggarrett thats a good point but the 5.9 weighs 1150 lbs. Every 3/4 to 1 ton has heavy front sep. to support the weight of the engine. If you want to do a 5.9 swap in a 1500, you must upgrage the sep. and frame.

  • so is it a 4 or 3 cylinder?

  • @RM250D8rzr 4

  • nice truck! that sounds like it woud be a great rig

  • Did you use the stock gas motor mount locations or did you make some modifications? Also when you wired it up how did you do it? was it just the normal wireing like to the fuel pump and starter and so on or is there a harness?

  • Does a/c work? Any problems with vaccum lines? I have the same set-up with a 1993 6bt cummins in a short bed.

  • Your belt idler pulley has the same annoying squeak my 4BT has :-)

  • The 4bt in my 2000 Durango sounds just like a Subaru from the interior. Not too loud if you have an insulated vehicle, and I added heat and sound deadener to the firewall. Stock 135hp will pull anything the Durango is capable of with ease, and then some. Very nice choice for a fullsize 1/2 ton truck. It will pull anything the frame and suspension is capable of hauling. And I love my 30mpg (summer fuel blend...high 20's in the winter)

    NHDiesel

  • After 3 head gaskets... o-rings, head studs... water meth, 2 manual transmissions..... in my 6bt Dually... I can honestly say (Keep It STOCK!!!!) i just sold the truck for about a 16k dollar loss.

  • whats the fun in that?

  • It was fun as hell to race... to stomp hemi's and mustangs.

Just not the money, time, broken parts. I should have kept it driveable, and reliable s all. guess you live and learn, my "bad" habit is drag racing.... so I dump money in my Camaro now, maybe i just didn't get into diesel as open heart/walleted as most.

  • @BurgundyBomber I am really wanting to do a 4bt swap but your comment is stopping me from wanting to do it .................so I think I'll think twice before doing the swap.............although I really want to!!!lol

  • How is the interior noise? I've loved the idea of putting a 4b into a half-ton but that was one of my biggest concerns.

  • its really loud, if your going up a hill its hard to have a convo with a passanger

  • @pigeonmaster107

is it really that loud on hills?

do you have it straight piped?

  • I am wanting to a B3 Cummings in my 1500. Do you have any pointers and/or advise. also what did you do with the transmission and electrical?? any help would be appreciated.

  • first off its cummins, 2nd why a B3? they are more expensive and way less common than a 4bt, and if you have a ram 1500 you can use just about any part from a 3/4 ram. The nv4500 i used was from a diesel ram, and the electrical is beginner at best, its easy

  • go with a 4bt. and twins on that bitch!

  • Nice work man. A clean & solid install!

  • thankyou good sir, yours is looking quite good as well

  • How much hp do you think? ive got a 95 chev 1500 that i want to put a 4 or 6 bt in. I also want to be able to keep up with my freinds trucks and pull the horse trailer

  • i would be careful. i would go with the 4. the 6 might be too much weight for the front end and might twist your frame

  • how would this cummins stack up to a tired old 5.7L vortec v8?

  • when im done upgrading it, it would kick the pants off it. Stock it would do a better job towing for sure

  • 6 would twist the frame if you towed anything or stepped on it or ran it anything above stock, which i guarantee you will want to do

  • 120 stock, hopefully to be over 200 shortly, which will be more than enough for me. Just with the 120 it did just fine. You have to do alot of stuff to it though if you want to increase power

  • is it manual or automatic...I see you have both

  • lol

it was auto, i just never took the shifter of the steering column

  • hey im thinkin of putting a 3.9 turboed cummins in a old truck of mine does it sound pretty good?? and does it have any get up and go on the highway?

  • its decent enough, maybe not quite as much as the 360 that was in it, but if you get the turbo spooled up it pulls decently

  • What kinda mpg are you getting???

  • around 25-30, its not too fast but it keeps up on the highway, and feels like it could tow a good bit

  • 6bt weighs over 1,000 lbs wet; a 4BT is easier on a front end designed for a V8 gasser.

  • coulda fit a six

  • then i would have just bought a 3/4 ram with one already in it...

  • hey it a cummins so you get two thumbs up regardless! i own 2
