And Jason Newsted left because he was having issues with James Hetfield over the release of his side project, Echobrain. He then had stints with Ozzy and Voivod (the latter of which he is still a member), and then signed on to do "Rock Star:Supernova."

Hey Scapegoat, what about ...And Justice For All? That was a great album! Though Cliff Burton was already dead, the album was great and complicated with its lyrics! Rob is pretty cool.
An album that surprisingly had a few great hooks, but was not anywhere close to what they had been when Cliff was contributing to the band. In retrospect I think they should have dropped the Metallica name out of respect for Cliff, rather than tarnish the work of the original line up with what is now well over a decades of mediocre bull shit..
No matter, it is however a sad fact that before Cliff's premature death, Metallica ruled far superior above all the others of that era. As much as it grieves me, when they went to write an album on their own, minus any of burtons riffs/hooks, we got the black album.
I am going to give recognition when recognition is due. Getting rid of Bob Cock was indeed a great decision & hiring Rick Ruben was a definitive step in the right direction.
But peeps they have clearly lost it,there is no Mojo in the band,i think that they hate each other,so a reforamtion would be a good thing,a new beggining of sorts.

You're confused. Cliff Williams (who plays bass for AC/DC) never played in Metallica, but Cliff Burton did. And Jason Newsted left because he was having issues with James Hetfield over the release of his side project, Echobrain. He then had stints with Ozzy and Voivod (the latter of which he is still a member), and then signed on to do "Rock Star:Supernova."

An album that surprisingly had a few great hooks, but was not anywhere close to what they had been when Cliff was contributing to the band. In retrospect I think they should have dropped the Metallica name out of respect for Cliff, rather than tarnish the work of the original line up with what is now well over a decades of mediocre bull shit..

No matter, it is however a sad fact that before Cliff's premature death, Metallica ruled far superior above all the others of that era. As much as it grieves me, when they went to write an album on their own, minus any of burtons riffs/hooks, we got the black album.

Man, Metallica's "Other New Song" is fuckin' badass, very catchy, very punk mix with metal & thrash metal. I love this song and can't wait for their new album. Its a shame that a lot of dumbasses criticize this cool song. Yes I know it isn't like Kill Em All or Master of Puppets. All of you who hate it, go listen to the gay ass "Black Parade" from MCR or to emo, pop-punk, all you guys & girls suck. St. Anger is a good album though it has large flaws.

If they wanted to they could make a good album but James and Lars are too fucking gay to do anything right anymore all they care about is getting airplay and selling records and try and sound younga and modern. They now suck total balls. And no excuses by fanboys please. Iron Maiden and Megadeth are just as old (maiden is older actually) and they have changed their sound without selling out, and they still make awesome music.
