I drove a 1970 2002 in the early 90th. It was my first car and it was a wonderful car! - Traveling from Germany to Spain, no problem, the 2002 did his Job. A Tour to Scotland: No problem, the 02... :-))
20 Years after, I did it again!
2002ti from south Italia, unrestored and in great condition.
What a fun! - This tiny little car makes so much fun.
BMW did a really great Job with the 02 and they never build again such a "Funbox"!
I thought I'd seen all the old 2002 vids, but this one is awesome! I am the proud owner of a '74 2002. Pure, raw driving pleasure. I must say I'm also pretty excited about the new 1 series M Coupe coming out next year. The 'Ultimate Driving Machine' DNA lives on!
I can't believe that Kraut slammed the hood shut @ 5:33! My dad always used to make a point to inform the kid at the service station to gently lower the hood.....something along the lines of "If you slam that hood, I'm gonna get out and deck you!"
I ordered my 2002 in December of 1970 and took factory delivery in early February of 1971. I've enjoyed thirty-eight happy years with this car, "the original ultimate driving machine."
I have a 2002 and, as long as I'm concerned, there is no better car, even today. It's quick, easy to maintain (almost any part is simple to replace without going to the service) and tremendous fun to drive!
They have got to be one of the best cars of all time. Fun, simple, and very reliable. 30mpg no problem. With very minimal upgrades, they are more than able to keep up with modern traffic.
amen to that they are also bullet proof and can run at 100 mph all day long from san diago to san fransisco with no problems what so ever even some of the asian and american cars can't do that today
i wishd id had green 2002 with 8 track recorder
