Sorry but Sofia is so much more as the Citycenter and Vitoshabulevard.... I lifed in Sofia 2,5 years and I like it as well in Mladost or in Studenskigrad. I liked the the area around Xotel Pliska :-) Also Vitosha mountains I missed a bit here... Anyway I really liked to live in Sofia... Thanks to all the people who I met there... @KpEMuKoBcu Get rid of the buraucracy and centralization left over from communism and give more freedom to the municipalities to make their own budgets in other parts of Bulgaria in order to save Bulgaria from Turks and Gypsies who conquer the empty teritories ! Go to Greece and see their expirience ! In Greece there are no empty villages !!!!!
Most of the municipalities in Bulgaria dont have the ability to make their own budgets thought they are required to. so the taxes payed in Sofia (and few other bigger cities) are used to back the finances of the rest therefore Sofia dont have enough money to do its job like fixing streets for the millions of cars most of witch arent from Sofia.
There are a lot of people who are both Turks and Bulgarians, the history can show you why.

I love Sofia beyond reason but I get mixed feelings when I go back there now: I'm happy to be back but it's sad to see all the beggars and stray dogs on the streets next to all the shinny new cars, malls and casinos ... lots and lots of casinos. People have always been welcoming, kind and fun now there's a lot of bitterness in the air. That's the feeling I get when walking around not all parts of the city mind you but most and it pains me to see this because I know Bulgaria has more to offer.

I'm an expat currently living in Sofia. There is so much there that needs fixed. I have never seen a dirtier city in my life. Its terrible. there is rubbish all over the streets, stray dogs on every corner. It seems like people there just dont give a fuck. I am sorry to say this.

Most of the municipalities in Bulgaria dont have the ability to make their own budgets thought they are required to. so the taxes payed in Sofia (and few other bigger cities) are used to back the finances of the rest therefore Sofia dont have enough money to do its job like fixing streets for the millions of cars most of witch arent from Sofia.
There are a lot of people who are both Turks and Bulgarians, the history can show you why.

@niokotta Ok so 1. the Communism has been build for some time so not everything comes from 44, 2. as i said the local municipalities cant collect enough money to sustain them self so Sofia, and few other cities budget are relocated partly. if they are not relocated those places will die. 3. the villages are Debulgarisation (?) because most Bulgarians go to the bigger cities like Sofia. and you are the one who had the worst crisis as i recall so i guess your system is not so good as you claim

and the gypsies - well the problem with them is that they aren't working (not that they cant they just dont want to) the history has shown that they aways do the same thing and it is to live on the others expense no matter what you do and haw you try to help them. even if you find them jobs and everything they will loose the jobs and wont take care of the rest (at best) but there are those who are good citizens but they are very small number

I love Sofia beyond reason but I get mixed feelings when I go back there now: I'm happy to be back but it's sad to see all the beggars and stray dogs on the streets next to all the shinny new cars, malls and casinos ... lots and lots of casinos. People have always been welcoming, kind and fun now there's a lot of bitterness in the air. That's the feeling I get when walking around not all parts of the city mind you but most and it pains me to see this because I know Bulgaria has more to offer.

I'm an expat currently living in Sofia. There is so much there that needs fixed. I have never seen a dirtier city in my life. Its terrible. there is rubbish all over the streets, stray dogs on every corner. It seems like people there just dont give a fuck. I am sorry to say this.

I apologize if I have offended any BGs with my comments. I grow regularly frustrated with Sofia and the mindset of a lot of people in it so I let my frustrations out in public which I obviously should not have done.
Most of the time I do enjoy living in Sofia and I can say that no 1 has ever done me any harm. 2 b honest, most of the time I am the 1 telling BGs that their country is not as bad as they make it out to be.
