That's easy. He's chained down in Mephistos realm. All you have to do is get to that level, and have one of your heros trade places with him. There's a save place right next to him, so I went and got a character I never use and traded him. I'm pretty sure you get the character back after you beat Mephisto though (Havn't beaten him yet, so I can't say for sure, lol).
