White's N(b1), B(h8), and R(a1) -- and Black's B(e7) -- did nothing during the game, so White was practically playing a piece down. With an open file and an open diagonal also exposing his castle to attack, no wonder White lost.
07:53 "Black has two ways to defend the hanging knight here. He could either play bishop to queen 2, he could play, err, excuse me, bishop to bishop, knight 2, bishop to queen 2. Or he could play, queen to queen 2 as well."
It's pretty easy to see why the algebraic move notations quickly became the popular standard. I've personally never heard anyone use anything else, until now.
hey, Patrick Please post more chess video, if i might request , can you uploadCapablanca-Alekhine World Championship Match 1927 . game 34th. I don't see how Alekhine defeat capablanca to mee it seems that capablanca could still defend his pawns but well I am a rocky.
@myname12321 good call. it was 2 am when i watched this lol. but thanx for the correction. i knew it throught the whole video too, but i must have had a brain fart at the very end when i commented.
Maybe the white could take the queen to D5 that way he would protect the rook from going to G8 and eventually defend the G2 if he moves the F3 pawn forward. But anyway he would probably just add few extra moves to the game and loose after that.
Beautiful stuff

If you keep making chess videos try sticking to algebraic notation, easier to follow and you won't trip up as much. Nice vid though

Hey, thanks for the great video!
These chess videos are so much better that reading long lists of chess notations.
But when Reti takes the pawn on d4 with his queen, he's lost! Why did he do that strange move?
It's pretty obvious that blacks response with pawn to b5 will cost him the white bishop.
Did Reti just miss this one? Or was it a sophistcated kind of sacrifice?

if the queen went to D5 wouldn't the black knight just take the pawn and put white in check ?
white queen could then take the black knight but black queen would take the white queen
