no actually, you dont understand what fair trade means, thats the whole point, the women are getting a fair price for their products, because they arent working for a corporation that would pay them pennies to make the necklaces

no, the fair thing to do is pay a fair price for the goods they produce, and make less of a profit when you resale the goods, and not exploit them for cheap labor, when you pay them a fair price, you lift them and their family out of poverty

Three problems. 1) You don't actually address what I'm saying: that we should buy from those who need it most, that free trade ensures this, and that buying from some at high price is unfair to those willing to sell at low price. 2) Raising prices disincentivises foreign investment and trade, thus restricting growth and keeping "them and their family" in poverty. 3) You ignore when buying the cheapest labour has in fact lifted "them and their family out of poverty", eg. Singapore in the 80s.
