  • Man, if you guys had atmospheric scattering...

  • 3ds max? please reply

  • This game is beautiful!

  • @morehate4uall well that explains it

  • @morehate4uall he had this? is he dead?

  • Holy shit. I hope you guys put up an SDK.

  • @Earo16 They already have, with the game when you buy it, didn't they?

  • @ENDORPHINSAM Yeah, I realized that as soon as I got it.

    Good stuff.

  • @Earo16 Anyways, are you willing to help a brother out? I have been having this problem for awhile. The resolution is at 800x600, and I read FAQ over at the wiki page and it said to edit the config.txt file and change the resolution, but, the problem is I can't find the file! (I'm looking in the right place) and alot of the buttons are being cropped by the screen. the config.txt file seems to be missing from the download? anywho, care to help?

  • @ENDORPHINSAM Yeah, no problem, it's in My Documents/Wolfire/Overgrowth/Data. Assuming you're on a PC, that is.

  • @Earo16 Ahh.. thanks. I was looking in Program files

  • This reminds me of Õkami!

  • God made the sun. God made man. Man made Phoenix Engine. God burned man (for making computers and not listening). Man moved sun, burned God.

  • God rays??

  • @monkey1o8 I don't know if they could even do that. Didn't Unreal Engine 3 JUST implement god rays? Seems like a hard thing to do.

  • @DavidDhoi oh.. yeah it would be cool though .. but if its hard, well.. I understand.. cheers man

  • @monkey1o8 Well anything is possible :D You might be interested in knowing that David (the programmer) has actually contacted Crytek for possibly licensing CryEngine 3. Not sure if he would implement things from CryEngine into his own Phoenix engine but that would definitely help with more graphically intensive features. So...hurrah for God Rays!! :P

  • @DavidDhoi Woaa that would be well cool if they had cool crytek features, Hmm just wondering but is there any chance that YOU are the the programmer who helped make this?? Lol sorry i just thought because your name is David haha :D cheers man

  • @monkey1o8 Haha no I just paint pictures for a living :). I've just been following the game for a while and check David's twitter account every so often.

  • @DavidDhoi It's actually quite simple if you only want them to be visible when looking at the sun. Just radial blur with masking.

  • Lol when u were on a ground view and u made the pillars fall I imagined the pillars falling in slow mation and a voice saying "it is a dark day" seemed epic =D

  • Make it so you can drag the light level all the way in for night scenes

  • OK, that's it, this engine is making me drool.

  • lol theres moisture vaporators at the beginning obviously this is tatooine

  • wow, its amazing how a game not being developed by a software company, has no fan base, and has barely been heard of can have such great graphics

    great job guys

  • Holy crap, that really "pops!"

  • finally we get a glimpse of how it feels to be god ;D

  • My god, this is awresome

  • Can anyone tell me the music used in the video? Thanks.

  • @TheKiimii Soundtrack for Overgrowth.

  • One question: How many years and how many people did it take to make this awesome engine?

  • @dindresto 4 people thats all i know.

  • Absolutely gorgeous. Better lighting than most games I've seen. Very cool. More dynamic skies!!! :D

  • This is just amazing... ! ... !! ... !!!

  • Some sunrays. Then landscape would be perfect against sun

  • Whale Man clicked thumbs down :D

  • you can literally drag the sun to change the lighting??? COOL!!!

  • I don't know how much time I'm gonna log in this game solely exploring.

  • Hole Lee Sheeeeet. amazing work! keep it up!

  • will there also be a character editor? I mean, Bunny's, Dog's, Cat's and Rat's may are cool, but maybe i want to play a human Ninja or something else?

  • Holly molly! Mind blowing editor, I have to try it soon.

  • this is impressive! i didnt knew any game engine could do ha light calculation SO fast :o

  • I think you should make it so the sky is changing a little bit of hue/lightness with the sun but except for that it's FREAKING COOL!

  • this is going to be sweet

  • THis is BEAUTIFULLLLL

  • drool....

  • NICE! Ö

Except that when the boxes fall their shadows aren't dynamically rendered. ;)

  • All this FUD about OpenGL, go frag yourselves Microsucks :D

  • and all of this made with opengl? awesome

  • @anony36 opengl is an api not a tool

  • @MegaCtrlaltdel i think what he means is, the game can now be played on the pc regard less of what OS you're running. so linux and mac users can experience it.

  • @anony36 I know it's old but you have to have in mind that OpenGL is able to things DirectX isn't... OpenGL is a lot of time way above DirectX but because of the missing acceleration it doesn't get this much recognition..

  • AMAZING

    this is really cool.

is this made with opengl or directx ?

  • I'm in shock. :'( and you made me cry a tear... Breathtaking... I've seen good graphics, man this blows ALL my expectations of today's standards. Holy crap that is SICK. How is even possible to make it look so real?? This right here, this is why I'm so into games. Man this is wicked sick... <3

  • sucker for soft shadows eh? Raise your standards brah

  • Yeah, I have to agree. It is a nice engine, but blows all your expectations? What games are you playing...

    Search youtube for "dx11 benchmark"

  • too bad this game is compatible with dx10 so, really, this is amazing. If they did this in dx11. Wow.

  • this game isnt compatible with dx , its written in openGL

  • dude.... Sweet.

  • I hope this doesnt turn out like savage did

Savage 1: surprisingly good graphics and gameplay, surprisingly, no lag at all

savage 2: couldnt join servers, lagged like hell

Even with intense physics, lugaru has no lag... until my camera angle goes into the fire,

  • I mean You're just Gods !

  • only one thing: the shadows didn't update when you started the physics simulation. other than that the engine is looking really nice and polished

  • i seriously cant wait for the game to come out

  • nice nice nice nice!!!

  • i am god.

  • wow what a good way to make nice amtosphere

  • Lol obviously you didnt watch it no less know anything about it, it's not online (at least this video isn't about Overgowth's online features). it is the best game to be ever made. BTW, mybrute doesnt even work for me >_>

  • amazing, u can sell engine when u polish it aside from game

  • Lol if they sell it, it wont be theirs anymore, it will be owned by a two-bit company who wont know what to do with it so they will just ruin it and put crappy ads everywhere made on flash by a 10 year old who cant use motion tweens and Overgrowth will slowly die.

  • when i told "sell" i was thinking about licensing it.... selling licences so authors still own it but earn extra money

  • yes, like Unreal engine or Source Engine? you can buy a license, but it still owned by Epic Games / Valve

  • Good job you made it to YouTube's most popular!

    Congrats from Iiro's brother.

  • Haha sweetness

  • Wow pretty good =)))

  • that's pretty sick. Is the Phoenix engine free? How do you like it in general?

  • It looks like the sun is in front of the clouds, other than that it looks nice. I remember I couldn't wait for Ocarina of Time to come out to see the day/night transitions.

  • i faved and subbed ! :D

  • Still needs some small final touches tbh, but still very impressive, nice work :)

  • Wow, makes me want to mod/map it up again.

  • Are those shadow map bias issues I see on the ground?

  • If I understand what you're saying, then I think so. Seems to be a problem with the shadows not updating for the physics objects.

  • Nice looking but even though the clouds change colour it isn't apparent that they are lit by the light source. They don't actually appear to change brightness relative to the suns position nor do they cast shadows or in fact block the sun as one poster has mentioned (there is a point that the structure momentarily blocks the light). A lot more processing power would be required but when you're playing a game I feel that it's not really needed (yet).

  • It's actually beautiful.

  • The terrain reminded me of tribes for some reason and I wanted to ski!

  • Is this original music, or can I find it somewhere? It's beautiful.

  • It was made specifically for the game.

  • Mind blowing. This is the sort of creativity gaming needs.

  • Wow. Beautiful.

  • OMG this game is going too be awesome MUST HAVE!!!

  • I believe this is a gaming engine not a game

  • A gaming engine being made for a game. Overgrowth, specifically.

  • all u need now is some 3d clouds to block the sun

  • I take it you completely missed the clouds blocking out the sun then?

  • I think that was an illusion, because they state pretty clearly that they just have a 2D image sitting BEHIND the sun.

  • Epic sun editor. <3

  • Sweet =D

  • THEN PLAY LUGARU >_>

  • then scram, and come back when you realise this game's full potential

  • Gratz on being a cap using, dick-sucking douche-bag.

  • No one wants to read your whinning either but it seems everytime I see an overgrowth trailer I see a poor fella with nothing to do writing the same comments over and over. Really, haven't you noticed that nobody in the overgrowth community cares if you like bunnies or not?

  • get out

  • Not everyone wants to be an uber muscly hardcore space marine with a cock rocket capable of shooting 30 equally handsome muscular men in one load.

Besides, Lugaru was awesome. As is Art Spiegelman's graphic novel Maus, and the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Tread the path untrodden I say.

  • looking nice guys, I may have to get this

  • moving away from my failedness, you should get this, I would pre-order it but I don't have a bank account.

But I will get it asap

  • That's very nice!

  • woah thats great

  • fantastic job guys. you create such elegant tools!

  • beautiful

  • Amazing Sky Editor. Keep it up!

  • awesome

  • It's so... beautiful...

  • The bit at the end is sexy. The blocks fall over and the sun shines through. Awesome.

  • omFg, is awesome, good job honestly!

  • WOW i just jizzed in my pants!!!

  • Awesome! I've always wanted to control, the sky. Now it's so easy!

  • Man what a fantastic, simple and user friendly system! I love it, how it just seems so logical.

Need to change your lighting and time of day? Just grab the sun!

  • I want it, now.

  • How will the skylight react to translucent object such as glass windows. And will it cast light at trees aswell or do you have to work with projected textures to get the leaves shadow?

  • (cool I'm the first commenter)

    Will there be lightrays?

    -rebel28

  • You wasn't first hahahahahahahahaha noob

  • well then it's a youtube problem, because I refreshed twice to be sure there were no other comments

  • Yeah, so you failed

    epic failz

  • I didn't fail, I merely proceeded to incorrectness

  • Right. Failed.

  • right, failed

  • that's 13 hours slow (since the other comment)

  • I'd love to not have a life but unfortunately I have real life commitments. If you truly believe you posted first then good on ya, put it on your CV, I'm sure it will get you far in life.

  • :D I can see it now, me, the man who posted first, lol

  • and most of those hours you were sleeping, assuming you got sleep.

So you weren't really having a life, you were doing what everyone else does :)

  • Did i hurt your feelings that much for you to get this butthurt. Move on with your life kid. Added to ignore list.

  • You guys are ALL idiots. It doesn't MATTER!

  • Looks incredibly easy to use. Nice job!
