I love the Office and I think it is SOOOO funny that he mentions working for CUTCO. I've been working for CUTCO for a year now and have hit FSM promo which means I make 50% commission! It is a sick job--it has plenty of struggles but it has helped me grow so much as a person. Wouldn't trade my paychecks, experience, friendships and relationships I've built because of it, or the experience for anything. :) CUTCO is why Michael can sell! hehehehe

Its not the sales rep's fault, because they don't know anything about cutlery. Cutco produces cheap stamped hollow ground blades yielding terrible edge retention, with cheap injection molded handles. If Cutco is the world's finest cutlery, then McDonald's is the world's finest restaurant.

I don't sell cutco cutlery anymore, as i am a computer repair tech level 1, and make more doing that.

the blades are not hollow (in fact they have shown how they make their cutlery to modern marvels), they have excellent edge retention (also proven on modern marvels), and the handles are made of "football helmets"... well the same materials anyway.

A "hollow grind" is the concave primary grind that is done on Cutco's cheapo stamped 440A blade blanks. In addition, Catra trials only test relative wear resistance, not impact or pressure resistance; the blade might be able to cut through cardboard for a while, but some moderate contact with the cutting board will roll or blunt the edge, thus instantly dulling it; terrible edge retention.

@Coolaid4507 I've sold thousands of dollars worth of Cutco; if a knife can't pop hairs, it isn't sharp. Not even CPM S90V could last a year in the kitchen and be sharp. It is widely known in the knife community that 440A is the lowest end, cheapo stainless steel (only thing worse is 420 series stainless). With an HRC of 55, it has terrible impact and wear resistance. Cutco hasn't tested their blades against top competition in their Catra tests; they didn't test their blades against Shun at all.

I'll have the money from a homemaker to pay for a month of insurance or something but they'll have cutco forever and it will make their lives easier. If you're having to push the knives on people, you're a horrible salesman. It's about comfort. If they aren't comfortable with it, then they don't need to buy it and I as a Cutco rep am not going to force it on them.

And it's not about cutting a penny. We do that to show the strength of the quality product you might be buying, because people like my parents use the shears for everything, including cutting through that annoying plastic electronic equipment comes in and small fruit tree branches.
