if he would have sung 'love' the pronounciation would have been totally different,

plus none of the other lyrics indicate that her new love was actually there when he seranaded her...

I normally hate The Killers but this is a great version of the song, vocally Flowers sounds a like Mark Knoffler (for those who don't know Mark Knoffler is from Dire Straights and they originally did this song)
