@flyingjibus these aircraft hav completely new engines in them, not supercharged engines, not packard-merlin engines, but new rolls royce racing engines, they shud b put back the way they were, and then, maybe flown stunt performances, but not in a museum, that is just stupid
@trainguy3 Look man, You really have no idea what you are talking about. The Merlin engine was designed and produced by Rolls Royce. Packard was contracted to make some, but they are the same engine. Yes, some of the fast mustangs use a race prepped Merlin that include parts from Alison engines and have been modified in other ways to be able to run more manifold pressure safely.. Please do some research before you come here and talk trash. "Flown Stunt Performances" Really???
@flyingjibus I do not like racing mustangs, that is my point, and yes the original ones, it is nice to here the engine scream, if u ever saw one perform
Your ignorance is on display here. These engines had turbochargers in them in WWII. Most of the Gold racers have been completely rebuilt and undergo xray inspections to detect airframe weaknesses. I suppose you would rather have your kids see an eagle in a cage rather then flying through the air as well? Stick to trains, their speed is more fitting for your intellect.Respond to this video...
hey mate what kind of camera were you using to get this shot? i see you were still able to snap a picture and do video t the same time?? i just went to omaka airshow in new zealand cant wait to get to reno!!! thanks for adding the video
@thestinson108 I used a Canon PowerShot S3 IS. I love it. Put it in video mode and grab a still anytime you want. And i hear the new model is better yet.
these shud be retired, and put stock motors into them, the FAA needs to have a "protected species" list if u will

@trainguy3 Air racing has done more for the preservation of warbirds then you might think.

@flyingjibus like what, putting supercharged engines in them, and not reinforcing them structuraly, they're 70 yrs old for God's sake!!
I want these birds to be around when my kids grow up, so they can see how it used to be
