There are some weird comments on here. I am Swedish and I understand this 100% and I'm sure most people do. The slight "southern" accent just adds to the flavour of the song :D
This is a very good tutorial - you're not going super-slow like many other tutors do, neither do you split the lesson into several videos (that's really annoying).
@simon4tw Thank you for the great comment Simon4tw . . . glad you enjoyed it and could understand it . . . some people just can't follow it . . . owe well
Thanks so much for your help! I am a pretty good player but I've never been good at this style at ALL and this video is really going to help me a bunch. Great video! Thanks again :)
I just joined a band and have to learn Sweet Home Alabama. This really helps me to get along with the solo part as fast as it´s possible. A big "Thanks" for this from Cologne.
The sheet music for Billy Powell's "Sweet Home Alabama" piano solo can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm. His solos from "Call Me the Breeze" and "I Know a Little" are there also - note-for-note.

@emovideomaker999 . . .just asking , but why would you get on here and make fun of the way I talk . . . I'm just trying to share my knowledge with people and I'm trying to help other musicians out . . . I'm from Ohio and if thats what you concider to be major rednck country then I guess I'm the biggest . . . . thank you for thinking it was a nice tutorial
Great Tutorial, thanks very much. Have you ever thought about doing Dixie Chicken by Little Feat. Some great little licks there but impossible to work out! All the best Ian
lmao . . . its really not a cricket , that's a drummers seat that I'm sitting on and when it moves it squeaks , guess I need to use WD-40 on it . . . thanks for the comment
Thaat was great lesson...I wrote it all down in my own notation...I sholud be able to learn it in a few weeks. Please, Please do " Call me the Breeze" in a lesson like that also, Thanks very much
Just To let everyone know , I play by ear and for me to sit down and figure out exactly what notes to play would take a lot of time for me . I've never learned a song by reading notes so that's all new to me and not the way I learn . Thank you to all
the people who have left comments and I apologize to those who wanted the notes . just use the pause button , watch me closely and carefully listen to what I play , train your ear to hear the notes and become a better musician from it .
i've been tryin to find a tutorial for the part of the solo that you decided not to do that billy powell plays as the song fades out...think you could do one of that small bit?
i learn alot of my piano songs and improvisions like this, this is a great way of learn but can i suggest to sperate into parts so u have a video for part 1 and a video for part 2 and so on, so then we can go through the song section by section and try and do it a bit slower
and i can see that ur a good pianist by the way u hold ur hands when ur playing, but if u flaten ur hands so ur finger arnt covered it would make it easier for us 2 see the note ur playing tony
I really like this solo and I have been looking for a video like this for a long time. Thank you very much for putting it all together. By watching the video slowed down I was able to copy down all of the notes and now I can play it. Thanks a lot.
I love Roland keyboards.Billy Powell is such an awesome player and none of his riffs are easy. That walk down always stumped me so thank you for clarifying the notes!(could ya put together a "call me the breeze" solo tutorial?)
great job but it was hard to follow your hands because its hard to read the notes! could you please send me the notes! that would be great! thanx and once again..good job!!!
hey cheers 4 the tutorial i have just about managed 2 play it 2 the best of my limited ability now, and it sounds gud, but still not as gud as urs, ur a legend, cheers
Fuckin' best version of that solo on Youtube!!! Thanks a lot man!
