  • Yeah, it was off cans with a little bend in the middle to hold the wash, or an evian bottle with foil and holes in the top and a hole in the side to pull through.

I never did it, but you used to see people licking up like that all the time, or the cans with the bend in the side and ashes on it.

  • Ah the Hippodrome... Watch out for them triads!

  • In the old days u didn't really get crack pipes (unless u were a rish crack smoker lol) so U would have to bust one out of a coke or super T's can :D lol

  • @MegaMoobag *rich

  • I spelled that wrong it was hippo as in the animal not hipper as in hipperholme near where I now live in Yorkshire!

  • Hipperdrome was THE chart music/pop night club in Central London for a bit in the 80s - it had a hyped opening and celebrities used to go there if I remember - was probably still going in 1988 when the Acid scene took off.

I suppose the rappers sampled and tried it and either not got in or had a shit time

  • Hippodrome was a type of pill?

  • Comment removed

  • basically hippordrome was like a top40s club in central london.........isnt it just a diss to the hippodrome?

The sample is from an old uk hip hop tune, that was made before Ecstacy had become popular.

  • never tried the hippodrome i'd rather check a tin can!!

  • It is definitely

    "I'd rather check a ting"

But the scratched "puckapucka" sound makes you think he's carrying on.

I met the bloke and he told me.

  • rather check a clear cap ! old school eeezzz

  • Why did these sort of tunes die and split into drum and bass and happy hardcore,it was a golden era that will never be bettered!

  • it is "never try the hippodrome, I'd rather take a pain killer"

    ithink

  • rather take a pink cali.. lol

  • TUNE have to of been there good old days

  • i think it's "i'd rather take a tin can" referring to alcohol??? that's just my guess

  • big up phants,chels 4 ever,mc dope bristol=unagroun st65ylee

  • wow i forgot about this tune memoriesss:):):) tx for sending

  • this was/is a fuckin blindin tune! it's the simplicity that makes it. solid loops & basslines. old school breakbeat fucking rocks harder than any shit i've heard over the past 15+ years.

  • @ratty23uk - Oh Word! Nothing comes close for me. H A R D C O R E

  • who has tried the hippodrome

if anyone knows where i can get this tune on mp3, that would be great, i ll give ya gud links of mp3 sites

  • 1992 :D

  • Rockin snorting track from the day!!!!

  • the drum lines are what made these tunes, things are just so shitty and simplistic these days, enough to nod your head at most, this was full body experience man, yeeeeeeeeeah!

  • Are you a producer? Do you know how much processing and precision can go in to making drums? The drums in this tune are just sampled and re-arranged, that's it. Even my nan could knock up a drum pattern like this in 10 minutes.

  • you're full've shit. even to chop up an amen in reason on the rex maching, to get it to sound coherent and none linear, is a lot've work. don't talk shit lad.

  • apologies, i totally failed to read your comment properly. hence my retarded reply. what i MEANT to say, is that it is irrelevent as to how complicated it is to make a drum loop and bassline, it was the sheer simplicity that worked for these records, they served a purpose and that was met. however, in the heady days of 93-95 when really intelligent breaks where being made, that's when complexity came into it, and kept it on a completely listenable level. todays breaks are shit in comparison.

  • Go away nob head. Who gives a shit what you think, this is a tune!

  • Yeah - shut up! These where the days before any Tom, Dick or Harry could produce a track on their home PC!

  • Yeah - shut up! These where the days before any Tom, Dick or Harry could produce a track on their home PC!

  • Wrong. With a 4 track tape deck and an Amiga you could knock out tracks like this. Urban Shakedown did.

  • Is that Stakker of Stakker & K-Tee..?

  • Octamed !!!!!!!!

  • Yeah - shut up! These where the days before any Tom, Dick or Harry could produce a track on their home PC!

  • Yeah - shut up! These where the days before any Tom, Dick or Harry could produce a track on their home PC!

  • we used an Amiga or Atari ST in those days and every Tom Dick or Harry was at it.

  • FutureProducerUK is right. Most of the hardcore breaks were samped from hip hop tunes and then speeded up. Very easy to do.

This sample sounds like it is taken from an old Run DMC track if my memory serves me correctly.

  • That great!

  • bring that oldskool back man, love this tune nice one!

  • Sweet

  • proper music , any one know any good sites for hardcore

  • Hardcore Will never DiE !!!
