Your point about great minds not going to college is invalid, and is similar to the "they laughed at the Wright Brothers" fallacy.
Sure, some successful people were laughed at originally, but being laughed at does not mean you'll be good-- they laughed at the Marx Brothers too.
Same with the college argument. The vast majority of successful people in our society went to college.
